Zidane, in my opinion, is the only Real Madrid manager in years that I can call a proper success. Player power is huge at that club, it's even worse than it is with us, and the only way Real Madrid could get it under control was if they hired a manager that demanded respect. Zidane being a Real Madrid legend, one of the best to play the game and a player those Real Madrid players grew up watching, he was the perfect fit for them. We need that here, we are desperate for it. 

I don't believe coach's would avoid us because they are afraid of getting the sack. If anything, the Chelsea job would be seen as great challenge for them. If any coach is afraid to take a job on because they are worried about being sacked, then they were never good enough in the first place.

My view is that Zidane doesn't need or want that challenge. 

For me it's almost like asking why mourinho won't take the Everton job. I genuinely think we are beneath Zidane as a club. We are tier 2.

It will only end up the same though until the club change the structure of the club and their policies. We have been heading for the situation we are in now for years. We should have seen this years ago going back to 2012 CL win.

We finished 6th that season and since then it's been inconsistency. A few trophies just masks over the problem. I would rather we focused on a long term strategy, which included using our academy better and being smarter in the transfer market, as well as backing a coach. 

Given how we have not spent lavishly on anyone for several season except Kepa they will know they have to work largely with the existing players and any others they can bring in.

I think Laurent Blanc might come here, not sure the others mentioned would,  he had done reasonably well at 3 jobs and win percentage is 58% to 71%. Can't see he has worked for a few years though think he might be a good it.

Each to their own. In my view we have been poor since that Spurs game. Many other people have said that even that Spurs peformance was a long time coming. 

Since then we have had the following:

Spurs, loss
Wolves, loss
Leicester, loss
a 0-0 at home to Southampton
a 1-0 loss to tottenham (granted we didnt play too badly this night)
loss to arsenal.
humiliated by bournemouth
humiliated by man city
loss to United.

We had a win against Man City in that period, but since then we have seriously regressed. 

For me this 'blip' started a lot sooner than Bournemouth away.

For me it started at Bournemouth. Wolves had a late winner,  0-0 at southampton is hardly terrible, and in that period we outplayed Spuds away and beat city, two of the best in the league, you cant just sweep those performances under the carpet to help your stats look cleaner.

135 minutes of football that lost us fourth place for the moment, and fa cup spot.

0-0 at home to a team that was in the time in the bottom 3 isn't great though is it? 

United were 11 points behind us when Mourinho was sacked. They are now a point clear of us. Them gaining 12 points on us hasn't just happened since the Bournemouth game.

I agree with @drjonesy1994 that Tottenham was the turning point. The City match was an aberration as the team ignored Sarri and played just counter-attack.

We have not played well since Spurs ( City at home was an exception), though many teams were not able to exploit this, those that could Arsenal, Wolves and Bournemouth made us pay.

I'm trying convince myself of just why zidane come here. 

I would think he likes kepa since he was close to signing him at Madrid. 

I dont think he would fancy any of our defenders, bar maybe christiansen.

In midfield, I think he would look forward to working with kante, and maybe he would see some potential with RLC, the rest are a million miles away from what he had at Madrid. 

Up top, obviously he and hazard have a mutual respect, and I think hazard would definitely stay to work with zidane. I think zidane would work with higuain, since higuain can link play pretty well in similar way to benzema, but the rest would be surplus to requirements. 

Zidane hasn't really shown much willingness to play the youth, Asensio and carvajal both made an impact under him though, so maybe he would use them here if push came to shove.

Theres talk of a £200m budget, but in all honesty I think zidane would want at least 5 new players, 2 full backs, a centre back, a centre midfielder, and another wide player, I'm not sure we could get the quality we need for £200m 

It just doesn't seem a realistic fit in my opinion.

Yes that's right, but if we had won 2 of these games:

no easy games in this league, palace away to city, wolves away to spuds, plenty of shockers to be had by all.

Can't see he fancies us, or any club for that matter, when your first job is Madrid with an unprecedented 3 CL  , where you go from there? I'm willing to believe Roman would put his money where it counts to back a man of such statue. No players would dare to f* around with Zidane in charge.
