Liverpool and man city didn't see short term results. You are aware of that right?

We are still in the hunt for top 4, we were in the final of one cup competition and very close to winning it and we look favourites to be in the final of another.

I'm happy with how our season is going and excited to see what can happen next year under Sarri. If we chop him,I expect we will go backwards.

That was a cool video that was shared on page 1, its hard to argue its Roman's fault when you look at the insane amount of money spent.

Football goes in cycles and we have to accept that. You cant win every single year in a league as competitive as ours.

We are in a tricky period by our very high standards, but have reason to be excited. Sarri seems to have a core team that he likes to play, but we need more depth.

It sucks to not have Roman there at the home games anymore. That is a real worry. Out of sight, out of mind and all that. Its hard to support with the same intensity from afar...

Exactly this. With the recent upturn in results from Liverpool and Spurs, there are more potential silverware winners or a CL spot than 5-10 years ago. That is not even counting the dark horses in a cup run. In another 5-10 years the picture may be different again.

It's damn nice to win something or play in the Champions League, but no reason to go "we're doomed, DOOMED" if a few years we don't. That's not a reason to stop supporting Chelsea. And if it is, well.....

In order for the fans to get behind the idea of Sarri long term he needs to prove that he's worthy of that trust and show some signs that he's capable of managing a side like Chelsea. He hasn't so far, but that's just my opinion.

We won't go backwards if we chop Sarri. For that to happen he needs to have made some progress which we would regret to lose if he's sacked. He's accomplished f**k all, in fact we're looking worse now than we were at the start of the season.

Liverpool and City hired proven winners, so there was an obvious logic behind it. Pep's and Klopp's resumes were the reason for giving them time and money to build something. What can Sarri use as an incentive for the board to persevere with him in charge? That he once finished second in a Serie A while playing an entertaining style of football? If he came to Everton or Watford, that may have been impressive enough. At Chelsea, the most successful club in the country over the last decade, it buys you nothing. He was a gamble because of his resume, and has proved to be an unsuccessful gamble, at that.

We won't finish in the top four. Even with an easy route to the final, I doubt we'll win the EL, not with Sarri in charge. He doesn't have respect of the players, they don't trust/understand his ideas, and the opposition have no fear of us because we're mentally weak team that can be pushed around and collapses the moment it concedes.

To be fair, there is a bit of context needed for what Souness was saying. He's adding it all up, Hazard likely leaving, a squad that needs freshening up in attack, and a transfer ban. He's not saying we are finished as a top club, just that chasing immediate success probably won't be successful in the next few seasons, and I agree with that point of view.

I think it's going to be very hard to challenge for anything in the next 2 seasons.

Pep came with a pedigree, and whilst they didn't immediately have success there was of course reason to be optimistic. They weren't getting mugged off every week (apart from their 4-0 loss to Everton) and were still performing fairly well. With us, currently the results are sh*t and the football is sh*t. If we was getting bad results, but still putting in a shift where you could say "we were unlucky to lose there" then i would have a bit more patience and be willing to give him a bit more time but as is at the moment, we are routinely getting mugged off with no signs of improving.

Fair enough. I'm not considering we were 11 points clear of United when Mourinho was sacked and looked a dead cert to finish in the top 4. Now we are slogging it out for a top 4 finish which is looking more and more unlikely. As eluded to earlier, I am also not happy with the manner in which we crumble. Man City and Bournemouth were appaling results and performances, but we have also crumbled against United (cup), Tottenham, Arsenal, Everton as well as everyone else who we have lost against.

Fair enough. I'm not considering we were 11 points clear of United when Mourinho was sacked and looked a dead cert to finish in the top 4. Now we are slogging it out for a top 4 finish which is looking more and more unlikely. As eluded to earlier, I am also not happy with the manner in which we crumble. I don't think we are going backwards at all, we've just tired. Our club needs a refresh but we won't be getting that

Sacking Sarri and replacing him with ... Not sure who, we have a two year transfer ban....won't do us much good. It 100% won't improve us and I think if we did that we would finish 7th next year.

Not sure if you've seen it but i did a post earlier in this thread about how the transfer ban and shift in focus *could* do us good. Give it a read.

We are on course to miss out on CHampions League football for the 3rd time in 4 years, whilst still being one of the highest spending clubs in world football. That is frankly unacceptable.
