Was a yellow card, not a red. You card based on the challenge which was a standard late slide in. Poor to change the decision purely on the basis of the injury.

As for the injury. They won't show the planted foot challenge that caused the injury but you did catch a glimpse of he aftermath (foot at a 90degree angle to his shin).

It's one of the worst leg breaks I have seen. It will be a long time before he plays another game of football, it may even never happen.

It's not sympathy or pity, it's empathy, something different entirely.

Ok I know it's not a nice situation and it wasn't really his fault, but players get bad injuries. My point was it wouldn't have happened if the officials gave a very obvious penalty 1 minute earlier.

The foul son made was a retaliation one for what he felt was a smack in the face, so I have no sympathy for him as it was cowardly.

The main problem with the Son sending off is he didn’t get injured as a result of his challenge - it was when he slid into Aurier.  And then someone in the VAR room reviews it and suggests it warrants a sending off ( I assume as all  red cards are supposed to be subject to review).

As others have said, VAR itself is not the problem here - it’s the implementation of it. How can we be one of the last leagues to have it and not get it right first time, when we should have learnt from those who had it before us ?

Talk about spoiling the moment, my stream is about a minute behind. It felt like the 'past posting scam' in the film The Sting.

Ha ha, sorry about that....

Get in...

You have no idea if that's true. More importantly, it wasn't a bad foul, never a red, and it's led to a horrendous injury. It's a terrible situation all round, and I have a lot of sympathy for Son, and even more so for the Everton player, obviously.

Of course it's bloody true, he chased him round the pitch to get the foul in. I'm wrong in saying i have no sympathy for him as he was very upset and never meant to do that, but it was a daft and unnecessary foul he made in revenge for what he thought was a smack in his face.

So many talking points in this game and the game in general at the moment.

Somebody needs to take control of the situation with the 2nd referee before it becomes an even bigger farce.

Goal line technology is enough for now.

Whoever decided to give a red needs to be sacked. It's that simple. We'll never know, there'll be no accountability, everybody will be officiating next weekend and everything will carry on as normal. The game has completely gone. VAR is a total joke.

Spurs should appeal that red. They'll get criticised for it by the moral crusaders but their player was sent off wrongly. There's no debate. I'm dismayed by what's going on. It's absolutely killing the game.

VAR is a disgrace. Watford get an easy penalty yesterday and then Spurs escape a penalty today. At this point its looking like Ordinary refereeing is more accurate. Even though plain refereeing might miss somethings at least there is more consistency.

My thoughts also go out to Gomez and for a speedy recovery.
