Kai Havertz

His best form came at Leverkusen playing off another striker. My main worry is that's where Werner played his best football too and he failed for us.

We're now signing Nkunku who plays his football off the back off another striker. Looks like he has more in his locker but positionally Nkunku looks like it has the potential to be another Havertz.

Just by looking at the recent players we bought from that league it should be obvious to not make the same mistake again and just put Nkunku as the advanced striker, sure he looks different in comparison to Werner and Havertz but if we just shoehorn him in the striker role it will look like we're buying the same player over and over and trying to make him become D.Costa out of the blue.

So realistically it could end up with Havertz or Nkunku playing of Broja?

I think Havertz time here is slowly coming to an end, with Nkunku coming in i imagine Kai will be on his way out.

But yeah, Nkunku should be playing off a bigger presence, Broja would probably be perfect as he's a big lad but also absolutely lighting so can keep up on the break to support Nkunku.

Nkunku and Broja together would limit us to having only two midfielders, or we are playing a back 5 and need to rely on our wingbacks as creativity again.

Nkunku's transfer adds a lot of issues for me unless we completely change things.

Broja gets system tax for now but I'm not really sold on him if I was pushed to give an answer right now.

Could always turn back to Lukaku 😉

Lukaku doesn't get system tax, he's a record signing who thinks he's on the level of Benzema.

Did you see him giving KDB advice during the Morocco match and KDB literally looks like he's shrugging him off?

Honestly can't can't of a worse ego:ability ratio.

Maguire is the only one I can think that comes remotely close.

No, let’s keep the dogsh*t performances and awful results!

We will be like your Beloved Pompy in no time!

That’s Mason who loves Pompey. This isn’t a Gol/Jorginho situation.

Finishes the year as Chelsea's top scorer throughout 2022, not bad for a player that doesn't have a 'set position' and therefore can play anywhere.

I think we need to just back this young man now, surround him with elite forwards (Nkunku, Sterling and someone else that's world class either in Jan or the Summer). Once being the primary goalscorer burden is lifted off his shoulders imo I think he will truly flourish.

I think he responds well to the coaches trust and is a confidence player. Sure he starts the season slow, but theoretically that means we can only look forward to him improving throughout the season. Once he starts to build some consistency I'm hoping he can do it for the whole season and become one of our true superstars.

Unlike Salah or KDB this man actually has proved his worth to us at the age of 21/22 by scoring the winning goal in the UCL and the CWC. That alone speaks volumes to his potential, if he's doing that now imagine when he hits his prime.

I mention Salah and KDB because look how they turned out. Nobody would have believed it if someone told you in 2012/13 Chelsea FC would sign the greatest goal scorer in a single season (Salah 32 league goals in a season) and the greatest playmaker (KDB 20 assists in a season) and then contrive to let them go.

I'm not saying Kai will reach those levels, but he has everything in his toolkit to be a world class player. Here's hoping he realises his potential as soon as possible.

Random note: as Erling Haaland now sits on 21 goals in under half a season it's highly likely he outscores Salah's record this season which I guess would make us feel a little better.

Really good post. Patience is key here, and as you say some real class around him, and behind him from midfield supplying more. I’d still like to see him playing off a striker, or rotating positions upfront, but think there is something to him that is different and worth pursuing.

I think he has 4 PL goals right now? Challenge him to reach 12+ by end of the season. Yes we need more but it’s the consistency we really need

It would suck if he left just as the team is being flooded with people with potential star quality.

Nkunku - ???/Havertz - Sterling/New winger

Havertz/Mount

Enzo(Speculative) - Kova/Gallagher

Chilwell - Badiashile - Chalobah -James

Is a very decent side if Potter can coach them well

I doubt he would want to leave, he's close with Mason and Christian and a few others. He's always positing his love for the bridge and London on social media too. I think winning the ucl with us also makes him closely associate with this club. Only team I think that could take him away would be Madrid in like 5 seasons like they do to every player

You'll probably all be very bored of my posts over the next hour so i'll keep it short and sweet, what the f**k is this man good at?

Very little but he’s seemed to have conned a fairly large amount of the fanbase and now 3 different managers that he’s talented. Most frustrating player I’ve seen since Torres.
