Kai Havertz

Against Bournemouth I was encouraged.  Today we were back to stupid free kicks and a nonchalant style on the ball that doesn't suit the premier league.  Just do not know what to make, but I do want to persist and see what he can offer with a decent midfield behind him.

Two years left on his contract this summer - pretty sure he'll run it down and walk.

Pattern recognition mate.

Learn to not be fooled by any one of our attackers if they have a “good” performance. Inevitable a stinker just right around the corner.

Oh completely agree.  Hard truth we've seen all we're going to get.

Can see him being sold in summer in Nkunku is coming in. Take the hit if anyone offers £30m.

If you watch his performances, he thrives through the middle playing off a ST and two dynamic wingers. If we buy him to play him wide or as a false 9, then he will simply be added on to the list of disappointing players.

Potter seemingly rates Havertz and if so then it's been nice knowing you.

It's either Havertz or Aubameyang for me and Potter's subs yesterday with Ziyech crossing late for Auba could have got us 3 points.

Apart from the fact that a 33 year old, 6 foot 1 inch striker with 300 games under his belt, didn't have the presence of mind to jump two feet off the ground to head the ball in.

Every bone in my body still wants this guy to come good for us consistently. But I just don't see it happening, he's not a striker, rarely contributes to creating goals and looks generally disinterested either because he knows his time is up with us, or because he, for the last two years, has been played as a striker and out of position. He isn't a 9/ doubtful 10, I'd certainly have him in the mix of midfield where he played in Germany and looked like a generational talent but if you want to know why we don't score or create, I reckon its probably because we play Havertz up top. He's too static sadly as an attacker.

Anyhow, can't fault him as person and hope he finds form with us.

He's got great talent and works hard, but it really is hard to see it coming together for him at Chelsea.

I can't think of one player ever who has gone from inconsistent to reliable in their fourth season at a football club.  It's a shame because he is potentially the best player at the club, but at the moment he looks further away from realising that than ever.

I am not giving up on him until I see him in a team with a mid that creates chances.

It is not a coincidence that every single attacker keeps underperforming with out current mid.

I understand that we might not have the best attackers/ killers in recent years, but it just can't be that all of those attackers suddenly are THAT miserable miserable up front.

  • Lukaku, scored a lot of goals before. Useless at Chelsea.
  • Aubameyang, scored always his goals. Useless at Chelsea.
  • Kai scored a decent amount of goals (not as a number 9). Useless at Chelsea.
  • Sterling always had his goals prior. Struggles so hard at Chelsea.

Not even talking about the wingers like Zyech, etc. Only the ones that played up front.

Without any creativity in the mid any striker will underperform.

You simply can't score if you get not service.

I think Havertz was pretty good against Fulham. He won many of the long balls and he seldom lost possession. I know it is probably not a favourable opinion. I also think him and Felix could form a nice partnership. Shame Felix is suspended.

Few nice touches but the above video largely showcases Kai's Chelsea career so far

Most annoying thing about this was he actually had 2 passes on (Mount through the middle if he turned the other way) and both passes would've led to players running in on goal. Instead he turns the other way and completely kills the momentum.

Mount was guilty of similar in the first half. Had an easy through pass to Felix but went sideways to Azpi instead. Felix (When back) will soon stop making them runs once he realises the pass isn't going to come.

Whole team is guilty of it tbh, having the ball in promising areas and not doing anything meaningful with it.

I agree, I thought he played well, apart from him falling over the ball, instead of playing in felix during the 2nd half.

Promising link up play, and in think Sterling will also look good combining with felix.

Pretty good is not good enough though. We spend a lot of money on him for his supposed quality he showed in Germany, but what has he actually done since coming? He isn't a game changer. If he was kept on the bench nobody would notice. He isn't a Hazard esque player who will change the game, he just strolls around the pitch and doesn't show much at all. He doesn't even show a goal threat.
