Kai Havertz

Very poor performance tonight.

I really hope to see much more from him.

I've a feeling we won't see the best of him till the back end of this season. He's still very young, learning the game and will have been shocked by the intensity of our league. Not to mention the small matter of Covid. His time will come.

There's one specific thing he does that I love, he is so direct and firm with his passing, none of this floaty wishy washy sh*te, its always passed with purpose and precision.

Give him a year, he’s 21, only one year older than Hudson Odoi. I think he needs time to settle so he really shouldn’t be in the first team, Kovacic can keep that spot until Havertz is ready.

Looks more and more likely that he'll need the entire season to adjust. Which is fine but the pressure will be on in many ways next season then.

I think he'll have to be happy with cameos from the bench and starts in the less important games for a while though. He's not close to Kovacics level currently so Kova needs to play.

Kai definitely needs time, the kid is struggling with new league new country syndrome ,I just hope he doesn't get home sick and will want to go back to Germany,I suppose you never know with a young kid moving to a different country.

Definitely his worst performance. Absolutely awful yet he’s not a player I’m worried about. You just know he’s going to develop into a superstar. There have been some games pass him by as he is clearly getting used to the league.

It was great to see him walk off to a round of applause because he will likely be unsatisfied with his performance yet our fans can see the talent.

I don't really see his performances as awful, but average. However I keep seeing flashes of how special he is, including yesterday. I love watching him play, he moves with the ball beautifully and has an eye for a pass. Just needs to thread it together.

It's a cliche but he just needs to adapt to the pace of the league.

As mentioned, I thought he was awful yesterday. I remember some of the awful performances Drogba, Mata, Hazard etc have put in. Not even slightly worried about Havertz.

The only thing that is of slight concern is our system. Mount and Kovacic are far more suited in front of Kante and Havertz is more suited further forward. The system works well though so that can’t be changed. When we play teams who park the bus, Havertz and Mount are a better option. Against face paced pressing teams, Mount and Kovacic are better suited.

There is no way harvetz should start in meaningful games if kovacic is available. Kova was our best player last year and is  playing at the same high level this  year while harvetz has  yet to addapt to the new club

I don't understand why are people so harsh on Kai, he's far too good for his age and all things considered. He had some misplaced passes in the first half and lost the ball a few times but so did Mount, he could have scored in the second half but couldn't put his head down and he made a good run and even recovered possession.

Feel a little sorry for Kai.

I think he was brought here to play in a 4-2-3-1 yet we have switched to a 4-3-3 and started winning.

Don't think he has the energy or tight control needed in a midfield three, he looks good with time on the ball and running with the ball.

He is an intelligent player and technically good so will never look terrible yet whether he can look good in a Lampard 4-3-3 remains a question for me.

that was the initial plan but he and the rest of the team didn play well enough.

I’m going to put it on record that he’s sh*t and we should sell!*

*every time I back players who aren’t playing well they turn to complete horse sh*t so I’m trying so reverse psychology here. Please see Morata and Kepa as recent examples!

Well, you probably know that Mount is overrated on this board so if he makes a pass it will be world class a lot sooner than if Jorgi does the same because of confirmation bias. Same as if he has a mare, there will still be people that disagree, because they like his "energy" or something.

In what way?

Not very good with the ball and his passing lets him down on a regular basis. If he was as good as many here think half the clubs in europe would want him.

How do you know they aren't, and why would we let him go? So how good do you think he is? Is he say, good enough to be the one of the best players in a team currently fighting for first in the Premier league that just cruised through its CL group battering a very, very good Spanish team?

Too many questions and a wrong statement at the end. He went on when we were up 2:0 against Sevilla and made quite a few mistakes then. You should probably rewatch that game. Also, believe what you will I made a factual statement that wasn't intended to change your mind.
