Declan Rice to Chelsea?

I am sure Declan Rice knows his level is far higher than West Ham, and unless he is blinded by loyality, he will not sign a new deal unless it includes a decent release clause. He has basically 3 years left on his current deal, with the club able to extended it by one year from its current two. He turned down a deal worth 200k a week, so I am pretty sure he has his mind on leaving.

Question is though will his love of Chelsea be enough to get him to come here? If City show an interest, or Liverpool, that is almost a guarantee of silverware and medals, City is, pool likely is.

Or if Real or Barca come calling.

Realistically we are below these in the football food tree, so either we fix that quickly or we will really see how much Rice wants to come here.

The real problem is not real or Barca. It is west ham. Rice is under contract forn 3/4 years. Unless west ham is relegated there is no reason for them to sell unless rice is asking for it.

Lampard said we asked for rice in his 2nd season and west ham said 80m. Season after that west ham said 100m. This season west ham said 150 m. West Ham basically said he is not for sale.

Sterling- 50mill

Rice- 150mill

Bellingham - 100mill

Absolutely ridiculous prices, but absolutely a better way to blow 300mill than we did...

We did need Koulibaly and a wing-back though.

Make no mistake Rice is overrated as hell with that pricetag, looks sometimes decent in a team that is happy with 30% possession, a proper mid table player that nobody in their right mind would pay 150m for. I get why Conte bought Bissouma and Pep Philips, both actually have a lot more to offer and those managers wouldn't dare to spend so much on such an average player like Rice.

I’m growing very cold on him, to be honest. He’s not standing out in that Spammers team and I think he’s regressing as a player. I would start looking at alternatives, I don’t think he’ll cut it here if he ever comes.

I wonder what the price of Rice would be if Moyes can take them to the Championship next season...

They’ve spent a fair chunk of money over the past couple years so if the stretch continues he may be at risk of losing his job. According to Transfermkt, they’ve spent almost £225m net over the last two years

We don't know that. Only thing linking us is the player saying he'd like to play for Potter and would be open to join Chelsea.

Is true, the other two are only speculation as well, never confirmed by the club.

We made last minute attempts to get both which were confirmed by Romano.

Yes and he is a good source, but not a Chelsea employee. So while he is pretty reliable, he is not 100% accurate. I believe we did try to sign them in our panic, but without either our club or Cleaning Solution or the Scummers confirming it, it could be just speculation, as unlikely as that is.

Both Ajax and Southampton representatives confirmed our bid I believe.

Ah if so then fair enough. have not read that myself.

If we're going to spend big big money on a midfielder I'd rather us try for Bellingham, in my opinion Rice isn't worth over £40m and we'll still end up having to pay double that for him

Its hilarious watching Jorginho fans try to convince people that Rice isn't any good because they know him coming here would be the end of J5's career at a top club and show what's really been missing the last 4 years.

Keep telling that to yourself, like you have been doing for the past 5 years...cringe.

Even if I didn't rate Jorginho I wouldn't want Declan Rice anywhere near the club especially for the price he would cost. Infact scrap that I've got no issue with upgrading Jorginho if it's an actual upgrade, Rice doesn't fall into that category.

Rice is 10x the player that J5 is. I genuinely can't think of a single thing J5 does better except slow the game down when you need it.

Rice is more athletic, a better passer, bigger goal threat, more intelligent, has age on his side... i could go on.

He's 'impressed' in a compact underdog system that duped Real Madrid into thinking Thomas Gravesen was good enough for them (likewise City/Lescott) and gave Tony Hibbert a PL career.

The absolute Pikachu shock on some faces when we don't go after Rice next year.

It's evident his profile isn't translated towards a progressive system.

Furthermore, i don't think Rice himself is anywhere near as keen on coming here as is assumed.

Rice hasn't shown in any direct matchup against Jorginho that he's a better player at all (both in club and national teams) let alone a better passer or more intellingent and honestly a bigger goal threat really? You're either fully in love with Rice and have his picture on your forehead during pride parade or you're just fully clueless, if it's both I wouldn't be suprised.

Exactly, if someone really wants to complain about how Jorginho isn't the right player for us, this is the kind of a player that won't do the job anyway since Rice is the last person you want to organize your attack, he in our system where we have possession and where we miss the final ball, is absolutely useless. He's just sometimes decent in a team that is happy to defend for 80 minutes and even then it's just about him sometimes looking good in a mid table team.

The fact that Pep and Conte didn't want to come near him tells the whole story there, neither the possession-based expert nor the counter-attacking expert needed Rice, they could get someone to do the job that they want for half of the value of Rice which only points to one thing, he's vastly overrated.
