Declan Rice to Chelsea?

I don’t see Rice as the answer, that Lazio mid Sergej Milinković-Savić is just brilliant, been saying that for years, Get Eriksen, and a new Striker, that’ll do for starters..

Rice would be in like an anchor role, albeit he always has a partner there but Milinkovic-Savic is more like a complete midfielder that goes all the way to the opposition box.

Yea something we lack, a Ballack type multi faceted maestro

True but isn't that something we're going to have when Gallagher comes back?

I also see Rice as a replacement of Azpilicueta for the captaincy. He is a natural leader both vocally and by example.

I understand people wanting to go for Tchouameni who dominates with skill (i know next to nothing about him) but with Rice we get a leader as well.

I'll take both and play 4-2-3-1. with Rice and Tchouameni as the 2 in the pivot :-)

If Rice comes to Chelsea, we still need some creativity in midfield. I mentioned in the Random Rumours thread, but someone like Erikssen would be what we need. We want someone capable of breaking low blocks with pinpoint passes, capable of picking up players' runs and also capable of taking corners with quality. Now, I'm not sure that's something Gallagher has in his locker, but we've seen it in Gilmour, though he's still unproven and needs to grow as a player. Which other player could we bring to do that? I don't know, but Rice only solves one part of our midfield problems.

Rice allows us to move to a back four. I agree we need creation something lacking since Cesc moved on.

West Ham will sell in the summer of 2023 and not before if he refuses a new deal. They made that clear.

If he really loves CFC he could make it much easier and request a transfer in the summer...

Be that as it may, I doubt Tuchel & Boehly want to spend in excess of 100m on one player when the entire squad needs a revamp top to bottom.

He does but he also has love, respect and loyalty to West Ham for developing after we released him. He won't make a mess to make the move happen.

Then it’s not really him being a huge Chelsea fan if he actually doesn’t care to come. No difference from us paying a lot for Lukaku.

I believe he very much wants to come. Just not willing to do such things to West Ham to make it happen as he cares about them.

This boyhood club nonsense is doing me in. Declan Rice genuinely went to the Matthew Harding Stand and told the fans to "f**k Off" after West Ham beat us at the bridge in 2019.

Proper Lukaku kissing the badge levels of 'loyalty'.

Who cares. Him being in our system from 8-14 is irrelevant. He is mates with Mason. On top of that he is brilliant footballer.

Obviously the media does with this whole Rice/Chelsea love story.

I'd love to have him but with what's being quoted not a chance. Tchouameni for me is still the superior footballer as well.

Again Tchouameni for me is a complete unknown so I am the last person to talk about him but what I see in Rice is a player who for example dragged England to Euro final and is dragging WHU to places they have no place to be in. He is the backbone of both teams. Chelsea's backbone is Azpi who is on already 32. I would love to add Rice to our young core as the leader he is.

Same way Hazard wanted Madrid but didn't piss off Chelsea to do it. Waited respectfully for his chance.

If he very much wants to come then he should do something about it cause the set price of 120m is just too much. Can't serve two masters, he's clearly not a Chelsea fan.

Hopefully they will consider player plus cash deal.. We have too many to offload!!

The players we want to offload, they won't be interested in more than likely. As great as a player plus cash sounds, it just isn't likely
