Declan Rice to Chelsea?

The most hilarious thing of all is the Lukaku disaster probably means we need to consolidate finances now a bit and can’t afford this outlay. Funny comparing them though.

Rice - Genuine natural ‘leader’

Lukaku - Fake leader, loser down to the core, not a role model.

Rice - Chelsea fan, his whole family Chelsea fans.

Lukaku - Chelsea ‘fan’ when it suits him, fake marketing campaign

Rice - Young, homegrown quota, future Kante replacement

Lukaku - Old, homegrown quota, Tammy was better

I've suspected since he left the first time the stadium tour was PR, since the interview I'm almost sure it was.

That said I'm not as convinced by Rice as most (i don't think he's a natural fit to the current system but I hope I'm wrong) but I don't doubt his support for the club is genuine and he would give absolutely everything to make it work if he joins.

In hindsight we could have kept both Tammy and Giroud last summer, while signing Rice. That probably still would have come out cheaper than what we spent on Lukaku.

I’m a big Declan Rice fan.

If we have any ambition of competing with City & Liverpool in the future we need this guy.

A player used to playing in the Premier League with a high ceiling makes more sense to me than any unknown midfielder from abroad who needs to adjust.

Make West Ham an offer their board can’t refuse, Moyes doesn’t set the price despite what he thinks.

Rice and Gallagher for next season and I’m happy.

Best hope Frankfurt knock them out then, cause no way they let him go if they win the EL and end up in the CL as a top seed.

We should have went all in to get him last season, massive mistake. Its likely we now will miss put and will regret that for years.

Yeah, we should of.

City will also want a new midfielder to replace Fernandinho so that’s a worry for me.

First thing I thought when i heard the Fernandinho thing, they are almost certain to go in for him unfortunately.

I’m not sure why. As far as we know, the new owners will have massive funds and could possibly make an offer to West Ham that Roman would not have sanctioned before. Who knows, as long as the sale is done by the time the window opens, the new owners will have to make some moves to get the fans behind, and this would sit well with the fans and Tuchel most likely.

He is a Chelsea fan, loves London and is Mounts best mate. For sure he comes here if we agree a deal with West Ham.

Problem is with new owners the purse strings may be very tight.

If Marina stays on for the summer, which would be smart she would advice on what we need and should pursue. Rice probably is one of the players that is on our list. City and United would strengthen with him. Especially United.

I thought we had concluded she's not involved in the decision making of players leaving/buying, but in the negotiating part of it?

Probably yes but she is on top of that all I feel.

Another problem may be that he might feel uncertain about Chelsea's future, and will chose a club he thinks will give him a better chance to win silverware.

Can't see us splashing nearly 100 million on one player when its evident we need to strengthen in practically all areas.

It depends who leaves really come end of the season. We could free up some money with player sales, and add carefully with both our academy and some thoughtful transfers. I would love Rice to join us though, he's a tough leader and he would be a great asset.

Much like in the Exodus thread, the only players I can see us "selling" are Werner and Kenedy.

I can't see us getting Declan Rice, £150m is what they have priced him at.

Reminds me of Zaha though perhaps City might be tempted.

That also could just be Moyes saying stuff to emphasize that they are going to expect a huge offer to take him away. Don't think 150 is a price they are ever going to receive for him, but think they'd eventually sell for around 65-80 million. Of course, they could pull a totnam and be stubborn and truly set his price at 150.

At the very least we know Tuchel wants Rice per The Athletic.

Still think Tchouameni will both be the cheaper and better player.

We do? Why? Because they always tell the truth?
