You guys are pretty harsh on Loftus Cheek, the guy has been back for only 6 months in the middle of a pandemic. And Liverpool won the Champions League and the PL with freaking Adam Lallana playing a key role off their bench so i think we can ease up on him a lil bit.

ONLY 6 months? You’re right. Needs an additional 6.

That might be the best RLC can hope for - coming off the bench amd making an impact against more tired legs. But he DOES have to take his chances when they come as they'll be much more competition for places this season and if you don't grab your chances when they come, you'll slip down the list.

Been saying this for a couple of years with RLC. Hope to be wrong but I just don’t see it. His lackadaisical doesn’t necessarily help, but I just don’t see enough end product from him whenever he plays. It’s all simple stuff and not top four or top six for me.

Pretty much what I think on RLC. He's been a highly rated youngster for too long now, boys like Mount and James have come since and took the opportunity and shine while Ruben has only really shown in flashes.

Our squad is looking a lot stronger now and If Havertz is to join you just don't see on the current development of Ruben that he's going to cement a place in the team.

I still think you can add CHO to those comments...alright the boy has been injured but he's been back a while and we can assume he's 'match fit' given the fact that he's been playing.  Apart from the first 10-15 minutes today I thought he looked half arsed, did nothing offensively or defensively for the rest of the time he was on.  If he's playing for a spot in the starting line up then he's better up his game in a big way given the competition now.  Even though he is a young player and still learning his craft he has only shown flashes of short term brilliance for those games he has played; let's hope he develops this season.

I thought cho was ok. RLC can play a lot better we’ve seen it, but he’s not doing it right now and looked no better than at the end of last season. Kante did look good and has the confidence.

in defence kepa did ok without doing much. The one I’ve personally become far more negative onsince the league resumption is Rudigier. So clumsy in his marking, always throwing his arms about etc. he will give away lots of free kicks and penalties..

Why was Ziyech playing in the second half? He hadn't played a competitive game in about 5 months. The decision making of Lampard and his staff is baffling at times. It was a friendly... empty the bench in the second half and get some of the younger players some playing time

Guessing there isn’t any more pre season friendly’s then seeing as it’s international break next week.

Or perhaps a match at Cobham against Kingstonian or whoever when everybody is back.

That one might as well be played at Kingsmeadow* seeing as we own it...

Ah the memories of those Kingstonian friendlies; that’s where I got my signed Zola shirt and Vialli picture :wub2:

*after some quick googling turns out we booted Kingstonian out a few years back.

Someone hinted before that RLC may be moving differently due to preventing injuries, this might also take away some of his previous noticed strong points.

I thought last season he did not look as effective as in the previous season.

Why would he not be playing the second half? He's not played  for 5 months like you said, so needs as much actual game practice as possible before the league is under way. We can't just play him for half a game all season.

Its a crazy post that you replied to, I just couldnt be bothered because its one of those hindsight ones. Of course he should have played the 2nd half, we need him up to speed as fast as possible for the season ahead which starts very soon.
