May 1, 20224 yr Better fix this fast TT. Individual mistakes are costing us - be it defensive errors (most costly) to just awful finishing (Utd). Everything in-between is not much better with this pedantic sideways build up play. Sure its the individuals making mistakes. But at some point you have to question is the team really prepared. And beyond that, where is the fight and mentality. Club is simply blowing in the wind and rolls over when anyone shows any sort of effort against us.
May 1, 20224 yr He better fix this fast and we better start doing a winning run now. Otherwise, it's EL. And by the looks of things, some don't care because they are leaving us. It's absolutely pathetic.
May 1, 20224 yr No doubting TT’s pedigree as a world class coach but our club is the graveyard of even that caliber of manager, all have won cups, yet all are gone - Mourinho twice, Carlo, Antonio. There’s a culture in the dressing room that despite hauling in loads of trophies is not quite right and it surfaces sporadically over many seasons to contribute partly to those sacked managers downfalls. TT appears to be caught up in the same malaise, lucky there’s no Board around at the moment to give him a vote of confidence. Let’s hope he can adjust tactics, pick the right players on game day and make meaningful subs to affect outcomes (we’ve seen very little of those managerial skills lately) and get these players over the finish line to secure CL for next season. Either way he’s not going anywhere no RA out of the frame. Week off I believe, instead of giving these players 2 days off I’d have them at Cobham tomorrow watching and analyzing the last few performances, but that won’t happen.
May 1, 20224 yr My problem with TT goes back to last summer. Both of new signings turned out to be flops. While Saul was just a loan and could be excused as a low risk gamble, spending 100m on you-know-who at the time looked baffling to many, me included, and our worst fears were realized as the season unfolded. Did he genuinely think Lukaku was the answer to our problems? Or that this squad was otherwise good enough? I can definitely sympathize with him given the injuries/Covid issues, Lukaku interview debacle and the whole ownership fiasco but he needs to make some important decisions this coming summer that may very well have a bearing on his own future at the club. There are no excuses at this point, he's had a full season to assess whatever he needed to, now it's time to step up and show he belongs up there with Peps and Klopps of the world and hopefully he'll receive full backing from the new owners. But this time he needs to get it right. Edited May 1, 20224 yr by abramovich
May 1, 20224 yr Arsenal now 3 points behind us. Arsenal fans licking their lips again. And the damning part of all of this is that we gave Arsenal the kickstart to start winning again. US. Feck this useless squad, your mentality sucks ass. I'm still fuming after what I witnessed today. I'm fuming after holding on to 3rd for so long, we are letting it slip. Just like last season.
May 1, 20224 yr He just said in his presser we tried to be patient to find an opening. Sorry but when he comes out with stuff like that it leaves me to believe he wants this slow lethargic buildup.

Of course some of our injuries are just unlucky but if he wants to keep playing like this the next season, he will need 2 more full-backs cause James and Chilwell can't play a full season without any resting. He's losing Rudiger that is the key of this back 3 lineup so I'm hoping that he'll ditch this system and go for a total rebuild for a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1.

This only solves a 1/3 of our problems with our squad. Our midfield and especially our attack are abysmal.

But if he doesn't solve that part he won't have much to work with regardless of other areas. What made us strong was the defense. Midfield is easy, sign Rice for 100m and that's that. Attack nobody knows how to fix.

May 1, 20224 yr Since our CL elimination we have an abject win against a Palace side who were overcome by the occasion. Out fought and defeated by Arsenal. Lucked out against West Ham reserves. Drew with the only side in the league less motivated to actually work hard for a game of football in the league in United. Out fought and defeated by Everton. Is as I feared when it happened. How we got put out by Real broke us and TT won't be able to get us going again. We will simply limp to the finish and look no better now than when we did at the end of the last league season.
May 1, 20224 yr A reminder that this squad only finished 4th because Spuds beat Leicester on the final day. This same squad (bar Lukaku) lost to Aston Villa when we desperately needed to win (while giving up 3rd place to Pool). This squad also lost in the FA Cup. Imagine if Spuds lost. The CL final would have a lot more pressure on us. I said this before in the other forum. Take out that CL run. Then we look like complete and utter bottlejobs from 3/4 competitions. They are doing the same thing again NOW but no CL final to look forward to this time. Edited May 1, 20224 yr by Mana

You are giving this squad too much credit. We won’t beat Liverpool. They are on a stellar run and a well oiled team with passion, fight, spirit and heart. We literally have first team players including that £100m piece of crap who can’t wait to leave our club. No chance. Chelsea Women on the other hand are the shining light in Chelsea right now. But this time he needs to get it right. Who knows whether Lukaku was really his choice? Either way though he sanctioned the signing so at that point he is always going to be held accountable. I would argue that some of the club's decisions on outgoings were even worse last summer though. We let both Tammy and Giroud leave, plus Broja on loan, bringing in only Lukaku as striker. Even if he had worked out better, there were still the risk he would get injured and we then had little cover. We also sold 2 highly promising CB's in Tomori, and Guehi despite knowing that most of our CB's were coming to the end of their contracts. Instead we could have started to phase the older players out this season and brought in Guehi and Tomori. Chalobah and Sarr could have gone out on a loan for a year instead. Now we have a hell of a job ahead this summer to replace the key players in defense.

That was different because at least then we didn’t have players who have their minds elsewhere. And even then they still almost bottled that whole season. And lol at “sucking off opponents”. Liverpool are two classes above us. So are City. Play City 9 more times in that CL final and we will lose at least 7 of them. Edited May 1, 20224 yr by Mana

If Leicester had beaten Spuds, and we then went on to lose the CL final, I am not sure that Tuchel would have lasted the summer. We know how managers fare in the past under such expectations. There could be fine margins involved this season too after today. The general consensus is that 4 points will be enough because Spuds will lose to Liverpool next week, and we have a massively better GD. But what if Spuds surprise everybody and get a win there? Suddenly we may need 7 points from 12 which looks far trickier given current form.
