Pulisic has been rumoured by some sources, alongside Mount and James to receive new deals once the ownership is sorted. Personally I'd put Pulisic in the same bracket as Kai and Mount in the don't sell. He's young enough for it to generally make us look like mugs again if he starts performing at a top level in a couple/few seasons somewhere else.

I think both Pep and Jurgen appreciate him and Juve are linked. He managed to stay injury free for a season, great! He didn't get as many mins in his favoured position this season yet he still has one of the higher non pen xg for forwards under 25 in the league.

We're gonna need wingers so at least one of CHO and Pulisic needs to stays as we bring in another wide forward. I'd personally keep both. CHO can play more as wingback cover for James, if we bring Perisic in and lets say Emerson stays. We would have Chilly B, James, Perisic, Emerson and CHO as wingback options.

Or we just loan CHO for 2 seasons to a prem team. Back to Christian I've seen enough to know he has the dribbling he just needs to make better decisions in possession like learning to release sooner and he'll have so many more assists. Keep working on his finishing, which is already one of his key skills and really kick on as he approaches his mid 20s.

Problem is how long can we keep persisting out of the KDB/Salah fear? He's been here three years, got numerous chances and the problem of him ghosting games is still prevalent.

He's a good finisher (for our standards) but too many games go by where he's a non entity on the pitch.

I'd mainly keep him because we can't really lose more than 2 of our attacking players this summer and replace effectively.

I don't think he's going to turn into Salah, but he's a good enough option whilst we rebuild our front line.

I don't think finishing is what he need to improve. Imo he has 3 things that he need to improve :

1. Can he get his explosiveness back?

2. Can he get stronger?

3. Can he stay healthy?

While I agree with the sentiment Pulisic is probably the first I'd let go.

And on top of that he's probably the one attacker that we could actually get some gamechanging (in terms of funding new players) money for as it's been a pretty well kept secret that he's a 1 in 10 player.

Sounds like Willian.

Except when he went to arsenal they thought he only became that player after they signed him 🤣

I thought this graphic was quite interesting, and highlights areas we need to improve.

I think Tuchel ideally would like us to play higher, and press even more, but I feel the lack of pace from the Thiago Silva, Azpi, Alonso, and Jorginho, means we would be vulnerable to balls in behind. Lukaku also cant press effectively.

Better pressing would help us create more opportunities in quick transitions, so we wouldnt be always looking to play through a low block.

The key areas are too much safe possesion, we dont switch the play enough, and we could press higher. Also we dont create much from set pieces.

The latter makes me curious: does it mean how many set pieces you get to take (eg how many fouls are actually called in your favor + corners)? Or how many of those taken created a threat. Because I thought we were extremely dangerous in general from our set pieces. And if it in fact means how many set pieces you get (= your play style was influenced by it in the process) I would like to know if there were many other teams being even more threatening with those.

Says to me we won't be in a position to compete with Pool and City, which any sensible person can see, and that TT has not been assured of his place here next season yet.

I read it is how often a set piece results in a chance, although i could be wrong, as City have the most goals from set pieces this season, despite only being about half way on that. May e that us just down to the volume as they would likely get the most free kicks and corners. Burnley have the highest in the league, and i know that is something they are renowned for.

Did you watch it? Him saying about being here next season was very tongue in cheek i thought. More of a joke than anything.

He does seem realistic about the transfer though.

No just from the quote.

Have to be realistic. To challange City and Pool we would need to rip up almost everything to challage. Only a few of our players would survive and that would require massive investment.

We would need something like this:

For low block sides:

Oblak

James

Kounde

Silva

Chilwell

Tchouaméni

Havertz

Mount

Gnarby

Lewa/Mbappe

Son

For sides that will have possession and attack us

Oblak

Kounde

Silva

Pau Torres

James

Rice

Tchouaméni

Chilwell

Gnarby

Lewa

Mount

There is no way that stats come from last season. Our dribbling score can't be that high

My main take away from these charts is how glad I am that I don't spend any money on subscriptions to The Athletic 🙂

Neither do, just saw it on twitter.

Why would you choose Oblak over Mendy? He hasnt been great this season, and his distribution isnt any better with his feet.

Im not convinced we can win the league next season by any stretch, but i dont think you have to buy ready made stars to challenge in the next 2 years, certainly not the massive sums it would take for Mbappe and Son.

That front 3 would cost more, and are more established than the 3 liverpool put together to win the league.

We have to plug the holes in the squad, like at centre back, defensive midfield, and possibly wing back cover. Then see if we can make some smart signings in the final 3rd.

Its a big ask, but if Liverpool could do it with nearly a net zero budget, and from a much worse position, then why cant we over the next couple of years?

Cause our recent record with signings is abysmal and thoese same people are staying apparently?

Maybe I am out of date with Oblak. Whoever we could sign that is as good as Allison then.

I disagree, if this past season we got mbappe/salah instead of Lukaku and chilly+kante+kova didn't get injured all the time, we are going to be up there.

I think Mendy is good enough to challenge for a title despite his occasional wobbles this season, ederson has had some blunders too.

The scouting will change 100%, this summer they will rely on Tuchel, and the deals that were already in motion, but moving on it will be heavily data driven with finkelstein involved, so who knows what that will do for our hit rate.

Hopefully improve it 10 fold cause the recent ones have not been acceptable and we need to find a way to shift them.

For me next season is not about improving the team. We have to pretty much rebuild our entire backline. That itself won't be cheap.  We can potentially lose alonso, Azpi, Chris n Rudi. Furthermore, Silva is not exactly a young gun.

I expect reinforcement come from our loanee. Eeryone is excited with Borja n conor coming back to join us. However both excel right now in role that does not exist in our team. Gallagher is basically playing Lampard role for palace whereas Borja is playing in a two st system for soton.

I mentioned a while ago here about moving to a more 352 but I am not sure Tuchel really like it.

That's not how I interpreted it. Pretty sure Tuchel is committed to Chelsea.
