This was in relation to a huge banner made for him by "We are the Shed" group. He is hugely popular with the fans with only a small fraction not happy.

That wasn't my point. His comment on entertainment and energy from the team, and giving everything is not exactly how most fans would review recent matches. It sounds like somerhing a new signing for the Scousers would feel compelled to say.

I was a little surprised to be honest, I got the impression he was still behind Robbie/Ranieri in that regard let alone Jose/Conte.

Fair enough. We haven't been great to watch in the PL but our CL and FA games were great. Hopefully he gets backed next year and our attack gets reinvigorated.

He is a CL winning manager and plus he has handled the whole mess amazingly well, unfairly as the sole spokesperson for the club. He has also got us to 5 finals winning 2. Based on achievements alone, he is far behind Jose and slightly behind Conte. Though I can't imagine what it would have been like with them in charge with the sanctions.

I mean in terms of fans opinion. From my online and real life experiences i got the impression he still has a bit to do to win over a decent chunk of supporters despite everything. Jose and Conte became universally loved the second it became obvious they were going to do well.

For me, he is the man to break the Pep-Klopp stronghold. I can see his progression as a manager from Germany to here. He was a bit of a d**khead there but seems to have reflected on it and done better. Also, I think in terms of pure tactics, he is the best. He has gone head to head with Pep and Klopp with better players and beat them.

He makes mistakes but always looks to improve. Unlike most managers who think they know everything.

Yet towards the end of the time here they both started to grind down that love with their general c**tishness where as Tuchel is a bit more in the Raneiri/Hiddink/Ancelotti mould of being generally decent and likeable person.

Hence why I believe he has long term potential here. Even more so now under new ownership.

Although I generally don’t take in as much football nowadays (mainly just Chelsea) I couldn’t think of a manager out there I’d rather have instead of him (unless @Zeta takes the U11 leagues by storm in which case he deserves a crack).

f**k it, it’s all depressing as f**k. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be the red half of Manchester but f**king hell, depressed. If he sticks with the same formation, we’re f**ked. Genuinely. The entire team needs f**king off bar a couple of faces. I just can’t be arsed. Looking forward to waking up tomorrow and switching off from this sh*te until inevitably I tune back in this August to find out f**k all had changed and we’re battling too 4 again.

I still have question marks over Tuchel's ability to improve attacking players along with his transfer decisions, but he is a comfortable 3rd best.

This possibly is the key question.

As others have said Thomas is generally a very likable manager, clearly good at his job. I think we have to accept that the two teams ahead of us are at present significantly better. Winning the league will be a hard task especially when you take into account that we will be bedding in a completely new defence. Realistically, our goal will be to get closer to the top two points-wise. Thomas's bigger aim though has to be to make us more entertaining, especially in the final third. For the most part, we are far too happy to hold onto the ball for the sake of possession, we generally lack bodies in the box and show a lack of cohesion. We aren't a good watch, especially at home. My wish for Thomas would be to make us more pleasing to the eye and add excitement to our attacking play.

Sometimes it really is a question of silk purses and sow's ears ... :-)

Bold you hit the nail on the head.

It's what worries me the most heading into next season, because there have been so many Tuchel post match pressers where he is contempt with this style of play. You see Liverpool and City, they move a ball with a purpose and always direct. We recycle possession time and time again, so slowly, and Tuchel comes out saying "We try to be patient".

Early in the season with Lukaku we were going towards a better season. Come Champions League we lose Lukaku and a bit later Chilwell and just after that James. Lukaku then talked and he effectively buried his season. It hurt him and the team.

Injuries hit us bad and we had to rely on second or third choices. They did well and I tip my cap to Tommy for that. He is great at keeping a big squad content.

On top of that we had that Club World Cup. Too many games and a long trip to other side of the globe.

Tuchel has done well but our side needs a bit of a shake. Gladly we will see one as we are losing 4 starting players.

Big summer ahead and I predict next season will be similar to this one. 3rd at best in the league and some cup runs.

I think with the right players there's nothing wrong with the system. Our attackers are just awful. Not a single one of them would start in Liverpool or Citys front line, or even Tottenhams for that mattter

Mane/Diaz Firmino/Jota Salah

Sterling Jesus(Haaland soon) Mahrez/Foden

Son Kane Kulusevski

Mason Mounts probably our best attacker and he doesn't get near the front line for any of those teams.
