June 7, 20224 yr He's obviously isn't going to get 100% control otherwise they wouldn't be hiring a director of football, however, his input will definitely be valued on the same level as Guardiola and Klopp if these rumours are correct. I think there are pros and cons to this model. The pro is that you don't end up with COnte/Mourinho-type tantrums but the cons are that we have to stick with the manager and the process regardless of the results otherwise you end up like United where every new manager ends up building a new team when they come which costs more.

There’s a reason even when our defence struggled in the second half of the season Tuchel still wouldn’t start him. Locked down Diaz in a cup final. Barely put a foot wrong all season. Team was much better defensively when he started. Heavy losses against Arsenal, Madrid (H), Brentford, West Ham all when he didn't start. In fact, did we even lose a game when he started this season? But yeah, timetowaste doesn't rate him so he must be Championship level. The only time you're wasting is ours when we read your posts.
June 8, 20224 yr The report adds Tuchel will continue to work in tandem with sporting director Marina Granovskaia and technical and performance advisor Petr Cech, only now they will instead be focused on delivering on the players the manager recommends. So marina is staying?

Must have been watching a different game because Diaz was MOTM in that final, he just didn’t score. You say all this but for what reason did Tuchel not play him then if whenever he plays he turns our defence back into our 04/05 defence? Can’t believe Thomas Tuchel can’t see that we’ve got the second coming of John Terry sitting on the bench while Malang Sarr gets a game. Hilarious joke btw mate if you came up with that by yourself you’re a genius!!!!! Now if you could have a conversation like a normal adult instead of throwing your toys out of the pram and insulting strangers on the Internet you’d understand my point is that this season I don’t think he’s shown he’s good enough for us currently, I think a championship loan would have done him the world of good, possibly a lower half prem team but he’s so error prone. Hope he does kick on for us next season because he seems like a top lad and has shown some promise but based on what I’ve seen so far he isn’t a starter for us if we’re trying to close the gap on City and Liverpool.

Alisson was MOTM. So Tuchel has never made a mistake? I gave you facts, the games we suffered defeats in Chalobah wasn't on the pitch, the games we won Chalobah played. Sarr plays LCB, Chalobah plays RCB, you're comparing apples and pears here. Chalobah was in competition with Azpi, Christensen and occassionally Reece for the RCB role. I understand your point, i'm just telling you you're wrong.
June 10, 20224 yr Disregarding TT's first 6 months in charge that was his first proper season and it reminded me of Mourinho MK 2 in 13/14. We have (had) a good squad but are missing the key components in attack to make us true title favourites not just contenders. Mourinho had Eden Hazard, and built his attack around him buy acquiring Fabregas and Costa. Right now we don't really have a Hazard but the closest would be Mount and Havertz one leads the teams in goals and assists and the other scores or assists in big games to help us win trophies. I think if Tuchel can put an elite goal scorer and playmaker next to these two young lads we can see a transformation in the teams attack maybe similar to 14/15 under Mourinho. You could argue we still need that Eden Hazardesque player to truly win the title, but I think 2 elite attackers may just get us there.

Fab + whoever beside Kante is going to be a total disaster so our new "cesc" has to be an attacker and if you sign a costa it mean New attacker + costa + Mount/Havertz/crazy long list of attacker.
June 10, 20224 yr When the media say that Tuchel will have control over transfers, do they mean that he will have control in the type of player we are looking for or the actual player? Because if it's the actual player, then I am not sure I like that. I don't believe for a second that any coach has the time to go and watch players when they are busy coaching a full team of their own every day. I hope what they mean is that he will be instructing the likes of Cech and Marina to go and find a certain type of player and they will report back to him when they find one.

Sounds like a sensible decision to me and a welcome change to how we've operated until now. This is more of click bait. What does it mean having full control? Honestly the only time this really matter is when resigning older player and rejecting a bid that is accepted by the club.

June 15, 20224 yr Next season the thing that I am mostly excited is our returning loanee Can borja succeed in this team when Tammy n rom fail to do so? How Tuchel is going to use Gallagher? Can colwill nail down that lcb position? Other than that, not much else. Our transfer window doesn't sound exciting. Our gamestyle will probably stay the same. It probably will take Chilwell 1/2 season to get into form so our football is going to be the same as the backend of last season. Plus I find mount - kai - timo combination to be very boring. I prefer to have cho there, more dribbling more creativity but cho - kai - mount does not offer enough penetration, maybe Borja can play over timo. Edited June 15, 20224 yr by Bob stark
June 15, 20224 yr I would be tempted to go 4-3-3 if we buy suitable CB's and Declan Rice. Would be exciting to see Mount - Rice - Gallagher midfield. If we go for Kounde it most certainly means we will use 3-4-3 and the variants of that. Chilly and James can handle back-4. But we need suitable backups. What does Azpi do? I think it is easier with the squad to work with 3 at back.
June 15, 20224 yr Jose once famously said he would have failed if some youth players did not make it in his time with us, o forgrt who those players were. Well TT actually has an amazing crop of young players coming to him. In addition to having James, Mount, CHO and Chalobah already he now can have Gallagher, Gilmour, Ampadu, Broja, Maatsen and Sterling. Very talented and hard working players. So while our new signings have not rolled in as they did when Roman bought us those are some excellent options for TT to use. No more signing 2nd or 3rd rate players, get the best or don't buy at all, we don't want more bakas and drinkwaters.
June 15, 20224 yr Mount Rice Gallagher midfield is a Lampard wet dream. We already saw how two attacking 8s and a DM doesn't work.

The Essien Maka and Lamps trio certainly did.

But Rice doesn’t play as a lone DM for either England or West Ham. Either Phillips or Soucek sits and allows Rice the freedom to carry the ball. To suggest he will come here and successfully be a lone DM yet again will be the same mistake as Kante at DM. We’ve already seen how poor England are in the defensive transition when Southgate tries to play Rice as a lone DM and Southgate rightfully gets criticized for it.
June 15, 20224 yr We really need to address our midfield creativity and I'm surprised we are not being linked with Eriksen. He should be relatively cheap and I'm sure he would love to play in the Champions League. Either that or I hope Tuchel has some ideas to improve our chance creation, otherwise we will be fighting for Top 4 yet again.

I did not name Rice though mate, you did. I was responding to your post saying 2 number 8s with a DM would not work, when with the Right DM we have seen it work very nicely.
