We are in full win mode but essentially from next season and ahead in my opinion.

Our last regime left a complete mess of a squad and with the situation being as it was Boehly & Tuchel had to start with the defense. Think we will see a transition towards a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 this season and then we will do everything in our power to sign Declan Rice next summer when he should be available.

And that's when we should really be able to compete with City and Liverpool and perhaps even Tottenham who's a dark horse this season.

Well as most will know I'm not a fan of Trev, but say what you said is true about him being in the team due to circumstance, why is he being kept now over Colwill? Even if people like Trev not many will say he's better or will end up being better than Colwill.

The year PSG sold Nkunku, they had M'Bappe, Neymar, Cavani, Icardi and Di Maria in the forward options. 

How does Nkunku get in the side ahead of players like that ?

The fact that he's only had his "break out" season a full 3 years after leaving PSG suggests it was a fair decision to sell him, don't you think ?

In most cases I agree and I'm not that bothered about most of the players on that list especially if they want a role above their current ability level.

However Colwill is different, he can slot in now (not nesseserily starting lineup every week but certainly as a key role in the squad).

Hopefully he plays that well in the friendly's and forces TT's hand.

If both Rice and Bellingham are available next summer I certainly know who I am prioritising.

I defended Lampard selling Tomori because I didn't think he was as good as made out (still don't although very happy it's working well for him at Milan) and selling Guehi because we had Colwill.

The latter is James 2019 level so if goes then my expectations shot up, only sustained and regular challenges for the big two can justify decisions like this, starting immediately.

That said, this tweet from Simon Phillips gives me a little hope.

I can accept Broja being sold, he needs to play regular minutes and I doubt that happens here. 

Gallagher and Colwill are top prospects and it would be like selling Reece and JT, utter madness.

It could also be the case as it's the player himself who's pushing for a permanent move as he wants to play week in week out from this season on. If the club can't promise that (and we simply can't at this point) then your hand may be forced if it's the player himself who's pushing. We have seen it countless times.

Another little aspect here is that Colwill is unproven in a back four. LCB in a back three is entirely different than one of two in a back four and if we do plan to transition to a back four it's something to keep in mind.

Ok fair point. If it is Colwill, Gallagher, Broja or whoever from the youth settup and they want to go have them submit an official transfer request so we know they are the ones forcing the matter.

 

Problem is, the success our graduates have had the past few seasons spurs on the others to want to play regularly.
 

In a lot of these scenarios TT can’t plan to keep them another year or 2 to see if they get to Chelsea 1st team starter level. It’s either play them or lose them.

It's just struck me that Malang Sarr is gonna outlast Levi Colwill at Chelsea 🤦‍♂️

The saddest part of all of this is, Ake has not had a great few seasons, and not only are we buying a player surplus to requirements for so high, but Man City will use that money to buy another Ruben Dias for the same amount. The gulf is just going to get bigger. 

Worse than that but Kimpembe is just such a poor poor defender. Atleast with Ake he isnt a bad player. Kimpembe is, hes so bad its unreal. 

Id understand if Tuchel didnt think Guehi and Colwill would make it without even giving them a chance. But his options are these two clowns. Bare in mind we sold about 4 academy graduates last year to sign Lukaku. Things arent looking good.

I love Tuchel, but who is making these signings, and why are they always so wrong. Lets hope we can win some more trophies, but the league, forget about it.

They already have three world class defenders, it's why Ake has become avaliable in the first place.

Accountability is a good thing. Tuchel will not shy away from it but its something we have lacked for years and years with the previous decision makers staying in their comfy jobs despite their failures.

It will take more than one window to clean up the mess though so some patience is required.

By cleaning up the mess you mean selling our promising youngsters while keeping Sarr, Kenedy, Emerson … ?

How hard is it for TT to keep Broja, Gallagher & Colwill. 3 measly positions out of 25. Add Trev into that and you only have 4 youth in 25. Hardly risky is it. Keep them in, save the money and let them develop with a healthy amount of games.

Haven't sold a single youngster so far this window as far as i'm aware.

Those who impress in pre-season will get a chance to stay (like Chalobah). Now it's up to the youngsters to prove they are good enough and have the right mentality,

 

Why are we signing Ake and selling Colwill?

Why are we selling Broja and buying a striker?

Surely Broja will have sufficed as a 2nd choice striker behind Havertz? Colwill has immense potential and surely we are much better off keeping him instead of signing Ake?

We can save so much money by using players from the academy, why not using Dujon Sterling as back up to James? Colwill back up to Silva, Koulibaly and new cb? Broja back up to Havertz? Gallagher back up to Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic?

It annoys me when I see reports that we are looking to sign a wing back, midfielder and a striker when we have all of these young talent.

Really hope we don’t sell Colwill.

Specially as you can use 5 subs per match from now on, I was hoping that would make talking youth players into staying a little bit easier.

Obviously a player might want to leave to get more minutes but selling him wouldn’t be good without giving him a fair chance.

Even a loan to another premier league team I could understand as that way you can have a look at him against premier league strikers.

Lets just hope he impresses in pre-season.

Yeah was hoping he could fill in as back up if the Alonso rumors are true. Though he'll get more minutes out on loan, so looks like a good move

I really don't think we can buy our way up to the level of Man City/Liverpool. Those teams are both long term projects that took years to build. This strategy of chasing immediate success whilst selling off talented young players isn't going to work in the long run. We might win trophies here and there but we aren't going to reach their level without making smarter decisions in the market.
