I'm buzzing after today, not getting carried away with Tommy Tuch, but in just 45 minutes he shows real pro-activism, but we really looked calm, and more positive in our play..Tunes, food and a nice Cab-Sauv for the evening

January 31, 20215 yr Much more fluid today, less passing for the sake of it. Jorginho and Kovacic did very well and CHO was excellent. Burnley are very difficult to break down, probably a nice preview of what we'll see with Jose on Thursday, so good to see us get a couple of goals and create opportunities. Good to see Alonso get a goal on return. Much like I never forgave Willian for the Conte incident I won't forgive Alonso for being a snake to Lampard, but he can certainly play a positive role in a 3-4-3 system. Six points off fourth which is very doable with the games left. Need to go to the next level and get a win v Spurs to show we can beat top level opposition.
January 31, 20215 yr Ive just shown my wife this page, she hates you lot now. She's terrified of butterflies ?

January 31, 20215 yr Almost a copy of the Wolves game. Despite Burnley have 1 more forward and 1 less defender they created 1 opening at the death. We did not mae enough of the good position we got in to, hopefully Tuchel will get us to be more clinical. Lovely goals from Dave and Alonso, the latter looked no better than Chilwell until he scored that belter. Not an easy pick for man of the match for me. Jorginho, Mount, CHO and Silva the contenders for me.
January 31, 20215 yr I thought the bedrock of the performance today was actually Jorginho and Kovacic in midfield. Jorginho was excellent taking the ball under pressure and finding space very reminiscent of Makele and Kova moved the ball forward well. That solidity in the centre together with Mount's willingness to turn and run at the centre of the opposition created the wide space for CHO etc. I am with GOL15 and I would be loathe to interfere with the centre two. I can't easily see what Kante is going to do in this situation that Jorghino can't. Kante is no better at receiving the ball under pressure and certainly doesn't distribute it any better. He could probably do the Kova job, but Kova is looking strong in offence. Kante would defend better than Kova and thats about it.

I struggle to see Kante coming back now though we need to see how Tuchel's system works against better teams before saying he will not reappear in another role. I agree that Jorginho and Kovacic are working well and with Mount's ability to turn a defender give us a godd balance in midfield. Kovacic is better on the ball than Kante and Kante does not anchor the midfield like Jorginho and unlike Mount he does not open up the opposition defence. So unless Tuchel is going to force a square peg into a round hole or drop a forward player to fit in Kante, remains to be seen. He might work on Kante to add a dimension to his game of course. The last thing I want to see is Kante camped around the edge of the box keep getting the ball as the spare man with nowhere to go.
February 1, 20215 yr A pretty good performance in my view. Burnley was in good form heading into the game, they have just beaten Liverpool and they'd be looking forward to have a go at us. We offered them nothing, no shot on goal until the last minute, and all the long balls were dealt with ease. Offensively, it's hard to break them down again, but we did find our way. I do believe our transition from back to front is faster now, and the wing backs are finding the room outwide which weren't available before. The real test will be Spurs, but we have made small but noticeable progress in this game.
