April 3, 20215 yr What on earth was Tuchel thinking? I just wish Tuchel would start our strongest players against teams like West Brom. He can take them off second half if they need a rest. We’d lost the game at half time, 2-1 down, ten men, and the wrong players on the pitch. It was a disaster. Why did Tuchel make the Porto game a priority? We’re not going to win the Champions League. Today was a must win game. A good run in the CL is a bonus. But let’s not get carried away. Top four is our priority.

Top four is our priority. The first time he saved some players we played a bore draw, now we got heavily beaten at home against one of the worst teams in the league. People said that the last draw will be justified if we win against Atletico and that we did but right now I don't see anyone saying that if we win against Porto that this loss would be justified. It's because we have no excuse here, we should have won this game.
April 3, 20215 yr 5 minutes ago, Malta Blue said: Not with that attitude I really don’t see the strategy here. We’re more likely to qualify for the Champions League by getting points against teams like West Brom, aren’t we? Trying to prioritise Champions League is a big risk and means we’re more likely to fall between two stools. That looks more likely after today. I think Tuchel has done pretty well up to now, but today was a completely self-inflicted disaster. You can’t underestimate teams like that. It’s not like the French or German leagues where so-called “lesser” sides politely roll over for you.

Even if some team manages to pip them to a title, they can just buy the best player from that team the following summer then continue their dominance again the next season. We don't have such a luxury Apparently their league is sh*te and BM can beat everyone without breaking sweat. so when they come up against English teams from the best and toughest league in the world you would think it would be a massive shock and extremely difficult for them. ??
April 3, 20215 yr Ref cost us the game. all their goals were offside. we should have had 3 penalties. Silva was miles away when that cheat fe!l over. There, that's better

I never said their league is sh*te. That's you. They have one-off games where they lose big, sure, but in general their first XI and squad is heads and shoulders above the nearest competitor. Don't know where you're going with that second paragraph. When have I ever compared the quality of the PL with the Bundesliga?

April 3, 20215 yr We lost today ultimately because of the red card, not team selection. We went 1-0 up and it all changed after the red. Remember that.

Apparently it's Jorginho's fault that T.Silva got 2 yellows in the first half an hour. So next time when someone makes a bad pass our defenders can just concede a penalty or a red card and say hey man it's your fault cause you lost the ball in the first place, you don't lose it I don't get to mess things up!

Thee red card is only part of the story, we were leading but had been very poor in the first 30 mins. There is no excuse though for caving in like we did today, the players played poorly and the coach didn't help with his total mismanagement of the situation.

I actually didn't think we were poor in the first 30mins. We were threatening and the goal was coming, you just knew it. But yeah no excuse and Tuchels management after the red killed any hope.

I see both sides. Yes Silva is the main culprit imo but don't put him or the team at risk with a silly pass. It just creates a sequence of errors.

Jorginho's performance today was a shocker and he did directly contribute to the sending off. Silva gets blame for not staying on his feet and giving the referee the question as to if it was a yellow. How Jorgi stayed on the pitch so long is a complete mystery, his horror show was only eclipsed by the manager today.

Yes he had a bad game but you would expect from a world class player like T.Silva to simply avoid getting sent off, at least not so early in the game. 7 minutes ago, KonaKai Blue said: I see both sides. Very cheaply giving away possession like that should have been a good enough reason to take him off at half time, something clearly wasn't working. Still T.Silva was also pretty reckless and it really doesn't help when Zouma and Alonso are not really defending at all. I think that when one player isn't doing his role someone else needs to step up, Jorginho was clearly having a bad game but then T.Silva just made things much more harder. Tuchel said it wasn't overconfidence nor arrogance but it looked like the squad thought this would be easy and were confused by being challenged to show up or something...
April 3, 20215 yr Apart from Kante & Mason who really gets stuck in on a regular basis vs the oppo in the team ? It’s obvious grit and muscle is needed vs a desperate Big Sam team. Today that was absent. (only my perspective. From 1st half. Cant be assed with highlights today)
April 3, 20215 yr While we learned many things today, one being we really aren't that good at the moment (and if anyone thinks that the 14 game unbeaten streak defies my logic, if the other teams had taken their chances and our defensive luck didn't hold out, I doubt we would have made more than 3 in a row) and secondly we'd better go and get a world class centre forward in the summer because putting up with this sh*t up front virtually every game just isn't working for me and I suspect many on this forum. Right now you can play Werner every day of the week and he wouldn't hit a f**king barn door; his first touch for a professional footballer is beyond comprehension; If TT wants someone to run around like a headless chicken all day we have a ton of those players at Cobham and on loan, so why we paid 54 million quid I'm scratching my head, and its not like he's been here for a week or so. Alonso can't defend worth sh*t, Ziyech is lightweight while Zouma clearly has a mental block thinking that the ball can only go sideways and backwards. While we might scrape past Porto on Wednesday, Palace next week will be a lot tougher so TT and the team best get their sh*t together; right now the fixture list is in our favour as the teams around us play decent opposition, City did us a favour today and maybe Arsenal will too, but that will end shortly. Serious clear out in the summer or you just might see Moses and Bakayoko in the starting line up.
