Following Our Nearest And Dearest Rivals 2021/22

Felipe's sliding tackle was actually a good one but then he put his feet too high and actually went for the extra contact on Foden so the second yellow is pretty clear there not sure why was he so upset about that since it's his fault he got it.

Simeone's players are like him, hard to play against and full of dirty tricks but last season they showed more sportsmanship against us than now against Man City.

A fair few signs point to Liverpool repeating our process to winning this year's CL.

We won our group ahead of a Spanish side last season, so did Liverpool.

Liverpool beat a Portuguese side in the quarter final, with the second leg at home which they did not win. So did we.

Real Madrid beat an English side in the quarter finals both times.

Liverpool will play a Spanish side in the semi final, so did we.

Real Madrid will play an English side in the semi final, as they did last season.

We beat Man City in the final, this season Liverpool will play in the final???

I wouldn't mind seeing Man City lose a CL final again.

Be even better seeing them lose it to Villareal, just as it would tickle me pink to see @Munkworth in a full Southampton kit as the saints mascot, since I am talking about things that would never, ever happen. Lol

@Nibs

After tonight, after Liverpool resting 7 starters, after City traveling and slogging it out with Atletico, after KdB went down injured, I think you get your wish and it is Pool in the final for Palace or us.

But I really hope you don't, and here is why.

I get why you want payback for the league cup final, for the 2 league games. I would love that too after 3 times robbed by the refs. However I don't want to risk them having only Palace to beat to win it, or face us again when we have faced them 3 darn times already, been better than them each time and not been able to win any of those games.

Yes I understand City dominated us twice, that we cower in fear of their shadow now, that arguably we or Palace would have a slightly better chance against pool. I do get that point.

More important than the FA Cup itself is the broader picture for me though.

Say it is City, say they win, and the league, and the CL and they do the treble yes we don't get to sing our CL song at them anymore. Annoying but United already did the treble, and that is in the distance.

However consider this and here is where I really want you to see where I am coming from. Say we mess up that chance at revenge, or they beat Palace. They win the FA Cup, not the end of the world right?

But what happens IF City slip up in the league? And what happens IF Pool are just that clinical once more in the CL final? They are in the final don't let anyone kid you about Villareal. Bayern coach messed up. They are 7th in LA Liga for a reason.

What IF then Nibs? You know what it means right? It means they win the quadruple. And we all have to live with that.

Till the end of time we will hear all about Klopp and the class of 2022. It won't matter if TT or anyone other manager wins 10 PL titles in a row or 6 CL in a row they won the quadruple and their fans and the media will diminish any of our achievements in comparison.

And we will have to live with it.

How can anyone praise the way Atletico Madrid play, its hideous. They gave a hugely talented team able to play excellent football, but instead their bellend manager, who's the most highly paid in the world, decides to just be snidey sh*thouses, everything that's wrong on football.

How can anyone not see the point of view of Atlético when we suffered Guardiola’s tactics and referee influencing in 2009? Yesterday the referee was quite one sided, City was wasting time instead of playing their football and the referee said nothing, and surrounding the referee like the Atleti players did should not be done, but it is something every Guardiola team has done since his days at Barcelona. But hey, Saint Pep Guardiola’s City can’t ever do anything wrong and they were never rolling around wasting time. If a Real Madrid player had been rolling around like City’s players yesterday and Rudiger had taken one player off the pitch, I would have applauded and so most of us in here. I don’t condone the pushing and huffing at the end, but I can see the frustration in Atlético’s players as we’ve suffered it when we play many Italian and Spanish teams.
Funny enough, last years game against Atleti had more gentlemanship, must be a Guardiola effect.

I agree that the second yellow was deserved, but I think that Felipe reacted to Foden not trying to avoid sticking his studs on him. Nevertheless, deserved yellow and off he should have gone with our protest. Then, the way Foden reacts rolling back into the pitch to waste time triggered Savic, should not have dragged him off the pitch but can understand after all the time wasting from City. Deserved yellow to Savic too. But City only got one yellow for time wasting later on.

Madrid stand no chance v City over two legs, they simply don't have the legs in midfield to sustain City's suffocating pressing. Going to be Liverpool v City in the Final, wish Liverpool win it, but if they play like they did at the Etihad a week ago don't think they'll get close to winning it. Hope they do, though, just for the sake of City still having to leave empty handed after yet another Final. If they don't win it this year when they are at their peak under Guardiola, then I don't know if they will do it anytime soon, especially shoulf Guardiola leave in the summer of 2023.

Isn't there a question mark over City's line up due to yellow cards?

I can see what you're getting at axman. That would be unthinkable and obviously mustn't happen. They are a good team but the way they are being put up there as one of the best of all time is truly nauseating. Of course the worry is that as well as being a good side, they do get the rub of the green decisions wise and with each success the self-belief grows and so on...................

Buy no. It won't happen. We WILL win the FA Cup. Think City will win the PL and possibly the CL too, which will be a bit of a shame but still preferable to Liverpool winning it.

I disagree with previous posts enjoying Atletico's "Performance", I thought they were a disgrace.

Passion is one thing, but they lost the plot, and the ref lost control.

Zero sportsmanship in their team - I have no time for them, hope they end up in the Europa league.

I concur. Simeone and his team are all that is bad about football. He's always been a snide, cheating c**t and he gets his players to play the same way. Only ever watch their games to see justice done and them get their comeuppance. So glad City beat them as the dreadful thought was that had they got through and gone on to play Liverpool in the final, I would have actually wanted the dippers to win, and that was like going back to when they played Spurs in the final which has to be the worst ever night in football!

You bring shame on your family Nibs. In fact your whole street, nae neighbourhood, wants you out.

If Jimmy Saville came back from the dead and managed a team against Liverpool in a final I'd have my 'Jingle Jangle Jewellery' tshirt and scarf set on.

In a game between Liverpool and a hell xI including Hitler, Saville, Shipman, the west's, pol pot, Vlad the impaler and Lenin, the only consideration I would have is how many i want the Hell team to win by.

I truly hope so as it would be unbearable and I would sooner not risk it and face City in the final.

Even if they did win the league and CL United fans would wind them up it was a fake treble at least lol.

I think that most of us don't appreciated in the right way the archievment of won 2 europa leagues in the 2 times that we play in that competition

Juventus, Milan, Arsenal, Inter, Liverpool, United and Barcelona playing that and just United won 1 time and loss another.

We play 2 times and won both

not so bad...

and we beat Frankfurt as well, they were excellent today and in the first leg, their fans are something else, it felt like barcelona was playing an away game
