Time to bring back the fences. Or maybe the Plexiglas like in ice hockey.

No thanks, making the majority suffer for a minority of incidents was exactly the reason they went up in the first place. Did they stop pitch invasions? Did they f**k! Solve the social issues that manifest themselves on the terraces first.

Interesting the media are putting zero blame on the Liverpool fans. Basically saying “we saw no evidence of Liverpool fans jumping the gates/fake tickets”. Errr..have you not seen of the tweets and videos flying around?

I don’t doubt many of the issues were caused by poor organisation, local gangs and heavy handed policing. it’s clear it was. But it’s almost like they’re scared to criticise them because they have a mob mentality

Just a few thoughts

There were no problems at the Real Madrid end so any organisational problems were related to the Liverpool end.

If these fake tickets were in abundance it might explain why extra fans were let in/forced their way in - as can be seen by the packed aisles at the Liverpool end, conversely the wide blue aisles were clearly visible at the Real Madrid end.

The people who climbed the fences are highly likely to have had no tickets or suspected their tickets to be fakes. ( Unlikely that supposedly genuine ticket holders would have climbed the fences, but you never know with these people.)

All of the fakes tickets were clearly the reason for the congestion which in turn prevented genuine ticket holders getting in.

Liverpool are attempting to gather many letters and petitions to blame the French, the Police, Uefa etc it will be interesting to see if they get more complaints than genuine tickets issued ! i think 19,000 is the benchmark.

Its quite a good ploy to blame everyone else as they are attempting to position the situation a long way away from a fine, matches played behind closed doors or even a ban ( obviously not just for the good folk of Liverpool but all English clubs.)

The Continental police are always/often heavy handed.

Tear gas - nasty stuff i should imagine - i would be leaving the scene rapidly wouldnt you? but i was amazed to see a few adults advancing or holding their ground with children by their sides - Its almost as if getting tear gassed is a badge of honour.

I think they are unwise to take on the french police and Uefa they wont win, good luck with that one.!

Mr Carragher asking for a bit of solidarity is rich - i cannot condone fake tickets at an industrial scale ( to quote Uefa ) and any solidarity could enhance the case for all English clubs to be banned for these incidents/disturbances in Paris.

Uefa will come for them soon, setting fire to the Citeh coach, and other incidents must strike a chord somewhere in the Uefa offices.

Klopp was unwise to encourage fans to go to Paris without a ticket.

Carragher was unwise to comment he would bunk in if he had paid a lot of money for a fake ticket.

I think there are many faults by several parties, but the production of fake tickets on a industrial scale and forcing entry into the ground are only at the the feet of one group, this time its their fault.

It’s emerged there were some problems at the Madrid end, possibly manifested less due to reduced Spanish fans. One thing that has shown is the involvement of local scumbags, #St Denis twitter has some horrendous videos on , on looking like a scene from GTA. Also has links to Spanish papers reporting the problems around the ground.

Ive no doubt there were Scousers there without tickets and fake ones, highlighted by one tweet I saw proclaiming he had bunked his dad in. One thing, Paris police will have to get there act together before the Olympics, otherwise it will be like feeding time at the zoo for the packs of hyenas that roam close to the stadium.

The problems with the Real Madrid fans were after the game, on the streets of the neighbourhood where the stadium is. Gangs of people robbing handbags and whatever they could find on the fans. Nothing to do with entry to the stadium, fake tickets and 40000 ticketless Liverpool fans trying to get in however they could.

Another matter to consider is that Real Madrid went for electronic tickets, which apparently are more difficult to fake, while Liverpool rejected the idea put forward by UEFA (I believe).

Look how much it pained Rio to put Terry in his top 5. 😂

He knew he would get absolute sh*t if he didn’t yet still managed to make himself look like a mug by picking himself as #1. The pair of them are having a twitter battle and the comments on the video have Terry clear.

Reading Dad's Daily Mail, football comment - Rio got it wrong, no contest John Terry was far and away the best defender for his time and as for Rio he might just have made the top 5.

I have seen a few comments going around commentating about Van Dijk's tendency to keep backing off when he is asked to defend. There are a few examples going around now and maybe it's something teams can exploit going forward. He doesn't seem to know when to back off and when it's time to step in. He doesn't do the dirty work, he leaves it to other defenders. His defending for Real Madrid's goal in the final was worse than Trent Alexander-Arnold's for me. He basically just invited the cross/shot.

So much for mr perfect best CB the Premier League has ever seen.

I think I saw that the French authorities presented an adjusted number of the counterfeit tickets that were identified on the Liverpool end. Something like 2500 in the end. While smaller than the original number that still means that more than 10% of those in line for the Liverpool end had counterfeit tickets. When you add a significant number who had no tickets you can quickly see how this would have been challenging to deal with, especially if those fans refused to leave once the tickets were rejected. From what I read the fans surged past the original checkpoint which led to a bottleneck nearer the ground. Had the French authorities stopped the surge at the first checkpoint they may have prevented the numerous fans from bunking in. I suspect when they saw that unfolding they lost their nerve and pulled out the pepper spray. Definitely the French authorities could have done a lot better, and they certainly have previous. But the fact remains that there was a serious issue with counterfeit tickets and it seems to have been primarily with one set of fans. Perhaps as you point out this was specifically because Madrid went for electronic tickets which are much more secure?

I've read a few things and watched some video clips.

Still not sure.

Madrid fans even going in had problems yet don't think this was at every gate and this included pickpockets and would be ticket thiefs.

As for every Scouser being ticketless jumping over the fence that might not be true they may have thought the queue was taking too long.

I found this on a current affairs site so curious about paper tickets and whether this is the French looking for scapegoats or is a genuine issue -

Paper tickets part of British culture

Mr Aubin said buying a sporting ticket event in a paper format was much more common in the UK than in France where digital QR-codes are often used instead.

He added that Liverpool had asked UEFA to produce the 20,000 tickets in paper format since the club was not technically able to handle the blockchain technology used by the UEFA for that event.

While the blockchain-technology guarantees against attempts at fraud through a complex technological system, the production of several thousand paper tickets opens the door to greater risks for black market sales, said Mr Aubin.

Mr Aubin said many tickets appeared on ticket reselling websites such as RelaxTickets, Ticket Swap, Viagogo or Stub Hub, a phenomenon increasing the risk of frauds and scams."

the new barcelona kit🤢 so ugly

They’ve gone a bit overboard with the shoulders but aside from that I like the darker colour scheme and the sponsor blends in nicely.

the colours are okay, even the gold … it's those weird patterns (looks like tire racks) and the rounding of the stripes that i find really ugly

Yea, I know what you mean, maybe I just think it’s decent purely because of how much of a mess their current home shirt is.

i don't understand why all these kits are getting so ugly, except for the Madrid teams, they hardly ever get an ugly kit, their new kit is beautiful

there have been so many beautiful kits in the 2000's

now it's rare to find a half decent kit

i always think that if you have a strong kit it improves the team a little bit as well.

Well , we've seen the scenes at Wembley with England's  ticketless fans , That might have been a factor in how cops behaved

and Plenty Chelsea fans without tickets at our games abroad too , and fans hurt by over enthusiastic police .. Nothing new there.

I see Eden got some minutes and put in a cross or two.

Lukaku clattered into Ake looking for a hopfeul freekick too.

why does Gareth Southgate still play Maguire? it doesn't make any sense. And Tomori isn't even in the squad. What a muppet Southgate is

is there some unwritten rule that you always need to call up at least 1 man utd player??

How Tomori didn’t make the squad I don’t understand. He was vital part of a league winning team. Madness.
