What a muppet Southgate is is there some unwritten rule that you always need to call up at least 1 man utd player?? Because Maguire is one of his key player

June 5, 20223 yr After long hard seasons where is the common sense, especially with a winter world cup, of playing these pointless international Friendly's that supposedly mean something? I get Scotland, Wales and Ukraine need to play, and any other qualifiers, but this nation's leagues and general Friendly's are stupid. Let the players rest ffs.

Mount has been playing non stop for years now and he needs a break. Carry on like this and he will be lucky if he isn't finished by his late 20's. We have all seen what happens to players that play too often when they are young. It's even more worrying for Mount because he's reliant on his work rate to have an impact, so if his body decides that it can't do that kind of work anymore, he will be finished at the top level.
June 7, 20223 yr I have just seen that there are still two games to play in this tournament. So the season for these players won't be ending until mid June, and they will be back in training in less than a month. This is crazy, there just isn't any time for them to rest.

We may be best served to let those players start late so we have a better chance of them being fit and healthy for most of the season.

Can you remember the last time we had a full team all arriving for pre-season at the exact same time? It must be a pain in the ass for the coaches. It's hard to get your ideas across for the season when half of your team is still having time off. One thing I have noticed, mostly in the Premier League, is that the quality of football seems to dip around January. It's like all of this football finally catches up with them and everything becomes a bit of a slog. We have more football than ever, but the quality is suffering and I think it's to do with fitness levels. Sometimes I wonder how often we actually see these players at the top of their game throughout a full season. I can remember the start of this season being brilliant. Games were played at a fast pace and players all over the league looked really fit, but a few months into the season and things started to slow down. It's like they can't maintain it anymore, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's because there are so many games being played and little rest in between. I would happily sacrifice a bunch of games if it meant we could see these players at their best for longer periods. Football fans need a break too. A season of football is an emotional rollercoaster and once June arrives, I am burned out. It's very hard for me to get into the mood for anymore football once the club season ends. It's worse for fans that are involved in cup finals and promotion and relegation battles because their emotions are at their highest point. You can't just suddenly reset your emotions after experiencing these things, you need a break.
June 8, 20223 yr “Official proposal from Liverpool for Darwin Núñez will be €80m plus add ons for €100m package. Benfica will make a decision soon, while Man United are also in contact with his agent. 🔴 #LFC Liverpool are prepared to offer Núñez a five year deal, waiting for Benfica decision.” Any idea what this guy is like? I’ve not heard of him before. Klopp is usually good at signing forwards - annoyingly.

Pace merchant and a good finisher by all reports. 15 hours ago, Scott Harris said: Can you remember the last time we had a full team all arriving for pre-season at the exact same time? Maybe we could reduce the PL size to 18 clubs, that could be a start since we cannot do anything about useless internationals.

Expanding the European Championship was the start of the increase in games and once Sky arrived the rest is history. Players really needed a pre season too, many would return seriously unfit and overweight. Even transfers were kept under wraps, the first you knew the club had sold someone was on the back of the Evening papers.

They just need to reverse the mess they have created over the past 5 years. Expanding the Euro's, World Cup, Champions League and adding the Nations League is way too much, and currently it's only the Euro's and Nations League that are causing these issues. Once the Champions League and expanded World Cup starts, things will get even worse. The Nations League was supposed to remove most international friendlies and it's done that, but the problem is that they have added more fixtures overall. I remember at the end of the season you would get two international friendlies at most, now we have 4 Nations League games. Edited June 8, 20223 yr by Scott Harris

We need to scrap the league cup or reduce it to exclude PL clubs, there's no money in it and the prestige is fairly minimal. The FA cup has made some changes I think the semis are single legs now and the PL is allowing more subs for league games. Realistically players and clubs need to shun tournaments that aren't worth it, league cup, nations league, club world cup etc. are all bullsh*t competitions. Send the reserves to compete in them.

General consensus was he was over performing his Xg, and was overpriced at €60m when Utd were linked to him earlier. The reported Liverpool fee is huge though and you do wonder if Klopp is panicking with the impending departure of Mane, Pep signing Halaand and a looming rebuild of his ageing core. Then you remember Liverpool and their use of data; could turn out to be an astute buy.

We’re good at signing defenders but not forwards.

They create chances, he'll finish them.
June 11, 20223 yr Two best attackers in Portugal going to pool in 2 windows. Diaz and Nunez will tear up the league imo. Impressive work to replace Mane and Salah.

June 11, 20223 yr 5 Cobham alumni in the England starting XI tonight ... how impressive is that ??!!!! Take a bow James, Tomori, Rice, Mount and Abraham ! Edit: And two more on the bench (Guehi and Gallagher) Edited June 11, 20223 yr by Sexyfootball

The success is though each player has achieved their own level, they’ve been schooled and pointed in the right direction. Neil Bath and his staff take a bow, they must all look on nights like tonight with pride.
