Don't see why the BBC should apologise for stating what we all know!

BBC apologises after 'Manchester United are rubbish' appears on screen.

The BBC News ticker displays the text "Manchester United are rubbish"

The BBC has apologised after a message appeared on the news channel saying "Manchester United are rubbish".

The text mistakenly popped up on the news ticker at the bottom of the screen during a tennis update just after 0930 on Tuesday.

Later in the morning, presenter Annita Mcveigh apologised to any Manchester United fans who may have been offended.

She said the mistake had occurred as someone was learning how to operate the ticker and was "writing random things".

Another message which appeared on the ticker read simply: "Weather rain everywhere."

Mcveigh told viewers: "A little earlier, some of you may have noticed something pretty unusual on the ticker that runs along the bottom of the screen with news making a comment about Manchester United, and I hope that Manchester United fans weren't offended by it.

"Let me just explain what was happening: behind the scenes, someone was training to learn how to use the ticker and to put text on the ticker, so they were just writing random things not in earnest and that comment appeared.

"So apologies if you saw that and you were offended and you're a fan of Manchester United.

"But certainly that was a mistake and it wasn't meant to appear on the screen. So that was what happened, we just thought we'd better explain that to you."

There is something special about winning a game after you are a goal or two behind. For the PL to actually hinge on you getting the result, it must make it totally Orgasmic!!

Look at some of our great comebacks over the years - the 4-2 Liverpool win under Gullit when we were 2-0 down and went on to lift the FA Cup. Losing to Spurs before beating them 4-3 with a Steino penalty. There are more no doubt, but these games stick in the memory and it's why we all love football. Seeing the sheer joy on those City fans faces when that 3rd goal went in is what football is all about and of course that was made even better, knowing there would be dippers in tears up and down the country, but especially at Binfield!

March 1984 away to Cardiff, top of Div 2.

Chlesea fans on 3 sides of the Ninian park stadium and outnumber Cardiff.

3-0 down at half time.

3-1 down after 88 mins

3-3 final score.

My first Chelsea away game 16yo.

Conference League final tonight.

Hope Roma win for Mourinho and Tammy.

I never thought I'd say this, but: Come on Feyenoord!

Feyenoord are totally different kettle of fish than the Cleaning Solution, thankfully

Good for Jose and Tammy to win a cup, although I still dont get the point of that cup, for those who aren't good enough to make it the knockout rounds of the Europa league?

Yes but also it's just another cup for lower level teams to strive to win. In England we have all kinds of trophies and vases below the FA Cup, it's good that there is more than the paltry 2 cups for the whole of Europe to compete for.

Roma haven't won a trophy for well over 10 years and they are full of joy tonight, it's a good thing for football.

I've yet to convey my condolences to my Feyenoord supporting former boss, but seriously, it what they deserve seeing they play YNWA too. And still they're not as horrid as Cleaning Solution FC!

If they had kept the European Cup Winners Cup around they wouldn't have needed the Europa Conference League. I think there were just too many teams to accommodate in the Europa League.

I'm usually one for saying a trophy is a trophy, but I don't feel anything for the Conference League. All I see is a competition that rewards mediocrity. If Roma haven't won anything for 10 years, it's because they haven't been good enough. This season, they haven't been good enough again, but they (and many other clubs) have been given an opportunity to win a trophy for being failures at the highest level. It devalues what it means to win a competition in my opinion.

I also see people are now praising Mourinho for being the first to win the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League, but all this proves to me is how far he has fallen as a coach. A coach that was once mocking teams for playing in the Europa League is now kissing a trophy that rewards teams for being a bit sh*t.

I may have been able to accept a competition like this in the 90's to late 2000's, back when there was high quality players spread out all over Europe, but not today, not when the gap is so big.

Bring back the Cup Winners Cup, a great trophy that helped to give more value to the local Cups in every country. If that trophy was still around, it would be a more interesting and relevant one than the Europa League, and the Conference crap cup would not be necessary.

It's a chance for the midtable teams or clubs that haven't won in years to compete for something on their level, in theory it sounds great but of course there are problems with it.
I don't think midtable teams have squads that are deep enough to play in Europe earnestly, there's going to be a load of playing reserves and seeing how far they get which devalues the competition.
Then you can genuinely have Man Utd level teams in this competition, they almost bloody made it as well. If they were in it I could see them smoking every team out there.

Right now it's a trophy that is only valuable in the right context, I can see it being a big deal to win for teams like Everton, WH, Wolves etc. But not Leicester because they won the League and FA cup even though they are part of that mix.

Same for the Super Cup which is pure bullsh*t for the European champions but way more valuable for the EL winners, I was happy we won it just to be able witness us do it in my lifetime but I wanted it so much more against Bayern and Liverpool.

Were I can broadly understand your point, football has changed rapidly in the last 20 years in favour of the richer clubs. Presently we’re in the close season but even now before any additions to squads are made, we all can name the clubs who will finish in the European qualifying places bar the very odd aberration(Leicester). The gap between the wealthy and the rest has increased dramatically. A group of clubs in the middle, far from being mediocre simply can’t improve unless they have a Saudi prince investment. Hence trophies like the European Conference League develop in a similar way that League Cup, Anglo Scottish, Anglo Italian and Full Members Cup did in seasons gone by. It gives these clubs something to aim for after February.

Anyone see Rio Ferdinand put himself 1st in his top 5 defenders of all time? He then got into a row with JT over it.

Saw that on Twitter. Ferdinand shot himself in the foot by slating JT for producing all his career stats, as just trying inflate his own ego, but put himself top of his own list. 😂

Look how much it pained Rio to put Terry in his top 5. 😂

He knew he would get absolute sh*t if he didn’t yet still managed to make himself look like a mug by picking himself as #1. The pair of them are having a twitter battle and the comments on the video have Terry clear.

Why would anyone bring up racism when discussing with a player about their footballing record and whether should be or not on your top list?  It just helps very little the cause for antiracism in society that these twats keep bringing it up at the slightest sign of discussion about a totally different matter. A straw man argument helping no one.
