We still have the bomb squad to a lesser degree. Last minute deals may be exciting, but means the squad cant really be changed as supporting Alonso might require when the right players become available. Plus, these guys get their pants pulled down the moment we enter a transfer deal. Its how weve ended up with a surpless of sh*t.

No club is currently thinking, transfer window opens next week, we better get Tosin in. However when it comes to the final week, those clubs who didn't think of him in June and didn't pick up their first or second choices will panic. That's the reality. If we can't ship the ones not in the picture in the final weeks then that's on the ownership. Outside of Fofana they are all sellable. But unfortunately not very good at very good at managing the sporting or promotional side. So I imagine we may end up with a couple others stinking up the joint
June 26Jun 26 Trev is clearly a decent lad. He’s dependable in most areas but we have to be looking at better in the starting positions. Trev is at a stage in his career where being a sub won’t have any redeeming factors for him. For that reason he needs sold.Good luck fella. You deserve every success

Gvardiol has only done anything of note at LB so yeah I'm definitely not including him.Mate I get second hand embarrassment reading your posts in the Next Manager/Rosenior thread the way you rimmed him off to be a success. Trust me lol I genuinely don't care what you think of my opinion.

June 27Jun 27 If only we could regenerate Frank LeBouef. Spraying passes around the pitch... how much would he be worth in todays ball playing centre backs era?

Every game Gvardiol played this season was at CB for City, so not sure where you’re getting that from. Or do you think he was sh*t this season? He’s one of the best CB’s in this league.I’m not your mate. Rosenior was sold a dud hand from the directors, which you like to remind everyone with every thread (broken record). Or does that only count to dick ride players and mangers you like? I understand you probably don’t follow the English football pyramid in the states so won’t have seen Rosenior’s career before twitter told you what to think of him. That’s ok, no need to get emotional about it. They’re just forum posts champ.

June 28Jun 28 Como have offered a package deal worth 27m euros (£23m) and Chelsea want 35m euros (£30m). Trev would do really well in Italy. He is a great lad and a decent player. A solid squad player and a Yoof system product. A good South London boy. Gypsy Hill. He is not good enough to be a starter at Chelsea imho. But he is still way better than I thought he was - when he came back form his loan at Palace he was great.
June 28Jun 28 Credit to Trev, he’s done very well for us considering the club treated him pretty appallingly. He should move on as he’s under appreciated here, like a lot of our academy players. He’s rarely let us down and been a good squad player.

In a conversation about needing good ball-playing centre-backs, Henry referred to them both as good as anyone in the modern era at breaking the lines or switching play and talked about how Desailly was the best at breaking the lines with hard, flat passes above even Fabregas or Xavi. That said I don't think "ball-playing" is a modern phenomenon. Virtually all the best centre-backs of the last 30 years have been excellent on the ball. Ferdinand, Puyol and Maldini were brilliant moving with the ball, Roberto Ayala and Fernando Hierro were basically midfielders in La Liga, Terry was the best long passer at the club until Fabregas signed (Lampard even said he was 'embarassed' by Terry and Jody Morris' ability to hit a 60-yard pass accurately), Lucio was incredible at everything, Cannavaro, Desailly, Nesta, Campbell and Jaap Stam were all known for line-breaking passes to their midfield etc. The stereotypical 'clogger' was dying in the era of Adams and Keown, Carragher and Vidic was its last breath. Quite a few of those clever pundits thought he wouldnt last a season...

Couldnt find a picture of it sadly. 4 hours ago, SydneyChelsea said:The stereotypical 'clogger' was dying in the era of Adams and Keown, Carragher and Vidic was its last breath.Fair shout, I remember Terry being one of the best passers I've seen. Dont remember desailly for his range of passing but he was militant into a tackle and rarely lost a 50/50. tough as boots, and one of my favourite players. The Rock... Also dont remember Nesta pinging passes, but agree, best defenders can play.

Honestly, our homegrown players deserve so much better than what theyve had. We are selling a capable first team squad player to dip into and promote from our bomb squad. We should be selling the bomb squad and adding to the players who are capable of playing for us.
