It might have been nice to keep Mount and Pulisic imho. But I do not feel that we NEED either of them.

also neither of them wanted to be here as per most media reports.

trying to limit our high earners as much as possible, life goes on. But it wouldn't surprise me though if Pulisic has an injury free season over in Italy.

Probably.  It's a non contact walking league so its not surprising that he is doing well atm.  Don't think his technique has ever been in question and he probably doesn't even have to run at full sprint pace out there. It's always been about his ability to handle the physicality of this league.

He trains, he makes himself available for selection, and has complied with every footballing request the club has made

Did he though? I'm pretty sure there were talks of him returning for pre-season which he never did. I believe I even heard Poch in his first presser say he was expecting him to turn up to pre-season like all other players and come to his office to meet him.

The snub from Lukaku to Poch's expectation is probably where Poch fully went off him . He was in that interview sounding like a man who wanted to hash things out Mano o Mano to one now, who is not even interested in Lukaku being any part of his plans .

Ahem!

I've been thinking of who called this, since the Roma links started but couldn't remember.

Well done @WhiteWall, you were bang on the mark. Exactly as you said it would go.

Pedestrian most certainly but not so much non-contact. Defence can still be crude. There will be a queue to hack down Pulisic.

“According to @NizaarKinsella, Chelsea shifting Lukaku's full £325,000-a-week wages off the books will save them nearly £16m over the season.”

Wow, £16m a season. Gotta say, the new owners have done remarkably well to clear deadwood and be creative in getting rid of these players.

Have seen it suggested we are demanding Lukaku sign an amended new contract that will see him drop his salary to 7mill pounds a year, which Roma will be able to pay the full cost of and IF (likely when) they don't keep him Rom comes back with 2 years left at the new reduced wage, hopefully making it easier for us to shift in and costing us less if we do not. No extention just an amended contract for his current 3 years left.

If I am not wrong he did something similar last year for inter.

But I assume we’re paying 20m for his transfer fee currently

It would have been really nice to keep Mount but he’s shown his true colours and now I’m glad he’s gone.

This Lukaku situation is one of the most bizzare transfer I have ever seen.

If he want money, Saudi is surely the place to be. So money is not the main motivation.

He said he loves inter but he didn't want to go back. Now he is heading to roma.

If the initial news turns out to be true we'd have done better than I thought we would. If it's an £8m fee and he us totally off our wage bill for a whole season, that's pretty much as good as it could have got for us with the way he has conducted himself.

Of course this will be spun another way by SSN. "Romelu Lukaku finds a way to escape his Stamford Bridge nightmare"

Real headline should be. "Winstanley and Stewart navigate a tricky path to remove toxic striker from their wage bill for the season, despite the striker closing off all avenues with numeous clubs for a move away from Chelsea"

There is only one true love for a narcissist and it transcends money.

It's simple. He wants to stay in Europe.

Granted. I'm always a little pissy in the mornings.

The physicality point of mine, I stand by though.

If this is the case, clearly staying with inter is the way to go.

He would have but a narcissist also has no spatial awareness. By opening his trap with Juve he royally pi$$Ed on his own chips with Inter, in a country where the football clubs have significant and close ties to the ultras elements of their fan bases.

I had a text from an old uni mate this morning... He's an Italian and Inter fan... Obviously can't help him regarding the team he follows.... but he was celebrating the fact Lukaku won't be going back to Inter this season... We both had a giggle and thanked our lucky stars... Lukaku has become one of the most toxic players on the planet... To think I was open to giving him a chance... Glad he's F-ing off.

That sums it up.

Pretty happy with the deal seems we’ve made the best out of a sh*tty situation.  The only problem is he’ll mostly likely back here next summer and we’ll have the whole Lukaku debacle all over again.

If he can somehow learn to keep his trap shut and just tries to be a pro, he should score goals in Italy and with a release clause of £37m somebody will surely go for him especially with the dearth of strikers around

It's clear what Lukaku's main motivation is.

He wants star status and a starting spot handed to him unconditionally, like with us his "love" for Inter was conditional to that.
