Once again I put this loss to bad in game management. TT gets a D- for me on this one, as he did in the League Cup final.  Once again he had players on the bench that could have changed the game certainly in the later stages, instead he sits on his f**king hands as does nothing....he ain't as good as you think he is...

I think I need to look at that bench again to see if we had Hazard or Drogba on there the way some folk are talking.....................!

Well @Nibs sadly I was right on this. No revenge, only a great deal more pain. Losing the league cup to them is one thing, losing the FA Cup is far worse.

Could have been a different story if we had have had a fit Havertz instead of Pulicic. Alas it wasn't to be.

Still, I can take comfort that we at least tired them out a bit more. City will win the PL and Real Madrid the CL.

Tuchel has to explain why he didn't bring on werner against a tired Liverpool backline..

We shd have been pushing for the win instead of bringing on Loftus cheek and barkley as false nines

I think he was injured in the warmup at the start.

Tuchel doesn't need to explain. Most will have seen that Werner has been hopeless all season and looks as likely to score a winner as Mikel used to.

Could have been Indeed, sadly we lack the bottle and Wembley finals are clearly a mental block for some of our players.

Don't think it is so much that but more a case we just don't have the match winners. People are talking about our bench as though it was packed with quality when the reality is, bar Kante, they are all sub-standard. We no longer have a Drogba, a Lampard, a Hazard to win us these tight games. Havertz can do it when he is fit and can be arsed but compared to Liverpool we just don't have enough players who can cause opponents real trouble. Probably why we were happy to go to the lottery of penalties.

Now where's that thread about mass exodus, I have a few more names to add to list........................

However bad we feel about it, we still gave them a game and we were (again) the better team over 120 minutes. So I can only say Well done Chelsea! And f**k off you Liverscum twats!

Amen, and Madrid won’t miss as many chances as us so the CL won’t be theirs

Not sure what p****** me off more, another domestic final loss or another penalty shoot out loss.  That’s 4 on the spin to those scouse c**** (champs league semi, super cup and two this year). With the exception of Munich, this years super cup and the spuds semi, Europa league semi under Sarri out record in shoot outs is s***.  Laws of averages would suggest we win some but f*** me!!!!

Prime Hazard would have scored one of those Pulisic chances.  Previously, Drogba and going back further, Di Matteo, big game players who took their chances. Domestically in finals, this lot are flakey.

no papers for me in the morning, no way I want to read how the scouse f******* “always find a way to win” - lottery on penalties - f*** off Oliver Holt, Danny Murphy and all the other ex scouse f****** pundits

Jurgen Klopp feels sorry for us:

"

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to the BBC: "Outstanding, it was an incredible, intense game against Chelsea - they would have deserved it exactly the same way, like in the Carabao Cup. That's how small the margins are.

"I couldn't be more proud of my boys, the shift they put in, how hard they fought, the early changes. I think Virgil is fine, but his muscle was hurt.

"All of these things, missing good chances, overcoming good moments from Chelsea, then having really good moments ourselves...

"Then in the penalty shoot-out, it was nerve-racking, my nails are gone but I really feel for Chelsea. For the second time, 120 minutes and you get nothing, that's too hard. But for us I'm pretty happy.

"We are mentality monsters but there were mentality monsters in blue as well - it was one penalty. Chelsea played outstanding but in the end there must be one winner and that was us today."

TT was convinced we would win until the last minute:

"

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel: "Like in the last final, in the Carabao Cup, it's no regrets. I told the team I'm proud.

"We were sure that we would be competitive and make life very difficult for Liverpool. We did it again. We struggled in the first 15 minutes but then we were excellent for the whole match. We got to 0-0 against maybe the best attacking team in the world and we also created a lot of chances. We deserved it, as they deserved it as well, but again we lose on penalties.

"We are very disappointed of course. We are sad but at the same time proud.

"I was sure we would win today. I was sure before and I was sure during the match that momentum was on our side. I was sure until the very last minute but unfortunately I was not right. I have to digest it and keep on going. That's life in sports.

"We have everything it takes to win trophies, we proved it. We have a Club World Cup and a European Super Cup and I don't feel sorry this was at the beginning of the season and in winter.

"We were good in Champions League, strong in both domestic cups, we can produce peak performances and we have the mentality in the club to shape the mentality of the players, but Man City and Liverpool have shown you need this on a consistency."

And i thought It was only the scousers with self entitled twat fans.

we lost a lottery. We missed penalties, this time was Dave and Mason, it could quite easily of bern Reece and jorge.

get over it, move on. Don’t slag your own team especially those who gave everything out there and was probably our best player.

Mason is blue and i’m sure he’s disappointed a lot more than you missing that penalty.

These things happen. But why keep him on the bench in that case? Can you not swap in a replacement in that situation?

As I pointed out before Mason stood up and was willing to take a sudden death penalty. Knowing that he is not that great at penalties it showed real courage. I didn't see other players pushing him aside to take one.

Rudiger takes good pens. Clearly his head was not in it nor his heart otherwise he had to be ahead of Mount in that list.

Realistically only Mendy, Silva and Kante should have been below Mount.

Yes. Good call. Surprised he didn't take that penalty. Obviously Mount had to take one eventually as long as it stayed level, but each one you score puts pressure back in the opposition. Really Dave's miss cost us just as much. We were playing catch up for most of the penalties after that. Instead we could have been putting a lot more pressure on their takers. Oh well I know we had one great win on penalties, but there has to be a better way to settle finals.

His heart is not in it anymore, you can see from his displays since he announced he is leaving.

Yeah like the league cup came down to the keepers. It can happen.

Dave's head was not right, cause he is good at pens but that sub is what cost us. It seems smart as he is way better at pens than Trev but, like Kepa seemed like a smart call in February, proved a wrong one.

If you play for pens you leave on Lukaku and CP and make your other subs for players like Ziyech and Ross at 119 minutes.

While others can be prone to miss you can be 99% sure when it comes to a pen Alonso, Lukaku and CP bury theirs.

Back home, kebab on the stomach and a bit more calm. Great day out with the Chels again, few beers before heading to Wembley, outsang the scum in the tube and we were in for a great game. First half we were pants, but the dippers were not very good either. Second half and extra time I thought that we were the better team. We dominated, created good chances and didn’t let them get on to us much. You’d never have thought that they were that team all the media pundits are raging on about! And then the penalties happened. It’s sh*t to loose again to that vermin on penalties, but can’t say anything other than I’m proud of the Chelsea. We were a heavily depleted team, we had to play RLC as a false 9 and then change him for f**king Ross Barkley, and the “best ever team in the world according to the media f**kers” could not get a leg over us. We lost with our heads up, were the better team on the pitch and finally came short on the penalty shootout. The dippers should be sh*tting themselves as Real Madrid, and Benzema in particular, are going to make mince meat out of them. Quadruple my arse, they are just not that good after all and won’t win the PL nor the CL.
