May 2, 20233 yr As a Chelsea fan from England, it's infuriating that I've seen him put in about 4 good performances combined for both Chels and the national team, whilst lighting the league up repeatedly at Arsenal and City. He really looks like he doesn't care as well.
May 2, 20233 yr Hopefully this lazy overpaid joke of a player can be shipped out as soon as possible in the summer. Quote
May 2, 20233 yr I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a Chelsea player so much. He’s lazy, doesn’t give a f*ck, gives the ball away carelessly, stops attacks completely, he stinks the place out. F*ck him, Guardiola must have been laughing when we brought him.
May 2, 20233 yr I always wanted to know why he does an impression of a T-Rex when walking around. Edited May 2, 20233 yr by Chelsc96

Particularly his first touch. And he has always lacked a football brain. Of course everyone is aware of the fact that he generally needs 4 or 5 chances to take one. But he had strengths. He had pace, a low centre of gravity, good balance and was very, very, very direct. Running at opponents and creating space for others were always his main assets. However, as with many players who come into the EPL at a very young age and play regularly, (17 for Sterling), he looks now as if his best years are behind him and is shadow of his former self. Pep knew it for sure. We should never have brought him. Simple as that.

I agree he's technically poor but disagree on his football brain, you can't get into the amount of goalscoring positions he does without some know how.

Not doubting his talent, he just seems burnt out at this stage, having been one of the main men at Liverpool from such an early age then City. Wasn't helped by his mid-season conversion to WB tbf, he'd started the season quite brightly- but seems really lost now.

Yes, you can. Getting into the positions and having the required touch and composure to actually take a high percentage of those chances are completely different things. Sterling has never had a high conversion rate. I actually see an awful lot of similarities between Sterling and Werner in terms of abilities and style of play but for sure Werner had a much higher work rate. Sterling's main asset was always his pace and directness. Sadly he will be 29 this year and that speed is no longer there. He now has nothing else to offer.
May 3, 20233 yr Didn't realise it was going to be an All English boys club when Lampard arrived. The one constant since hes been back is Sterling starts every game under him, and Sterling is the worst player on the pitch and does nothing. I just dont get it. We all called it in the summer too. We knew this was going to bea Lukaku part 2, and it has been. Man City saw us coming, and replaced him for Alvarez for 1/3 of the price and whos 8 years younger. Prob on 1/3 of the wages too.

Really good comparison that, Sterling and Lukaku. Same excuses too, not playing to his strengths etc.

After everything he’s done for Liverpool and City, all that experience, he should have been showing the young players how to win games even when not playing well. Instead he’s one of our laziest players with an awful attitude. The squad would be much better off without him.
May 3, 20233 yr You have to wonder if Tuchel was just trolling Boehly when he was in for Sterling and Aubameyang. If the bloke had the hunger and ability to take Chelsea somewhere, Pep would not have sold him to a "rival top club".
May 13, 20233 yr That is more like it. I thought he was sensational today. Not just the goals, but he was a havoc all game and was best player on the pitch. I hope Pochettino can help him bring his City form back to us next season.

Raheem probably has had the most chaotic season of his career 3 manager changes with a 4th coming end of the season, and being played out of position constantly that would disrupt any player. Raheem underperforming is understandable now imagine the young and new players it must be even worst for them.

I really hope and think he will prove people wrong next season.
May 13, 20233 yr Wouldn't get carried away. Even Ziyech and Pulisic have good games once in a Blue moon too.

May 15, 20233 yr Sterling at City was a cog in a very well organised, disciplined machine, and prospered. Everyone knew their roles. Pitch him into the mess that is Chelsea and it's unsurprising he has struggled. Especially at wing back! He hasn't lost his ability as the weekend showed. With at least a semblance of organisation under Pochettino, he will be fine.
