Raheem Sterling signs for Chelsea

Same for me. I don't think Sterling has a shred of leadership quality in him at all. There were games last season were he didn't even look like he was giving 100% IMO. I also think he has lost a yard of pace.

He shouldn't be selected just because he has experience. His role in the team means he needs to deliver goals and as with all players, give total effort.

Was our top scorer and was injured from January til about March tbf

Last season Sterling scored 9 goals in 2,564 minutes.

The sum collective of Pulisic, Madueke, Mudryk, Ziyech, Felix and Mount was also 9 goals ... in 6,290 minutes.

Sterling might not have been anywhere near his best, but given the performance of the alternatives, he's still the first winger on the team sheet for me !

One of the very few bright spots last season, (possibly the only one), was the form of Madueke when Lamps started playing him. Pacy, skilful has a trick or three. Looked very promising with a run of games. Personally I'd be gutted if he was left out for Sterling.

So two inexperienced wingers to rely on?

Nkunku and Sterling as the inside forwads, Mudryk and Madueke as depth.

With all the sales projected to happen I believe it leaves Lukaku, James and Sterling as our only mega earners.

Assuming we find a way to bin off Lukaku then I don't think Sterlings star shines brightly enough for him to be earning 2 or 3 times more than the next best player.

He still deserves another season to perform under a great manager. I reckon he'll have something to prove now after seeing City win the treble and his standards being dropped.

Finished the season our best forward player in the little time he had on the pitch! Let’s at least keep hold of this one!

He didn't have to be very good to be better than the other forwards 🤪🤪🤪🤪

In a settled system I would be surprised if Sterling gets less than 10 goals this season, assuming he hits the ground running I'd expect a similar haul from Nkunku too.

Not really sure why anyone would want us to sell him, every game he played last season he was one of our only players capable of making a chance out of nothing (either for himself or for someone else).

Sterling was definitely one of our best attacker last season.  He can get 10 goals easily.

Last year, at times he was asked to play more like Hazard whereas his best role is closer to Pedro.

To me it looked like he was asked to play like Demarai Gray when he is more of a Luke Chadwick.

Felix Johnson has said Sterling has received a big offer to go to a Saudi club, but he is not expected to accept it.

Go chase the bag out in Saudi Raheem. Been at the top level since you were 16, your legs only got so much millage left.

Would save us a packet in wages too.

Why do we want to sell all of our good players? 😭😭😭

Don't get why so many people want Sterling sold, was the only player that looked like scoring when on the pitch last season. Only really struggled when he kept stupidly getting played as a number 9.

And as a WB. Haters will be haters regardless of facts and reality.

The only reason why I would keep him around is because of his experience, because outside of that, I don't think he is very good and I just don't have any confidence that we will use him correctly. I've been saying it since the day we signed him, if he's not being used to run in behind the defence to get on the end of crosses, then he will fail. That is the player Sterling has been for years now, so if we have him picking up the ball 20 yards from box and running at defenders, then he will continue to struggle. Watching Sterling in a Chelsea shirt is like watching Sterling in an England shirt, he may pick up the odd goal but he will be really frustrating to watch.
