Sterling more effective than Hazard? This is the most "I watch the stats, not the football" opinion I have ever seen. Swap Sterling for Hazard and we wouldn't have won even half of what we won during Hazard's time with us. City on the other hand would have won everything with or without Sterling, just like they did last season.

Have you ever seen Hazard's very obvious training ground impersonation of Sterling ?

It's hilarious, I'm surprised there wasn't an outcry over it !

you could buy a fairly decent squad with that.

what  A TERRIFYING 'waste of Money'

Alarmingly you could buy Brightons squad twice over for that. And we're going to give them another £100m for another 'one' of their players. They have and are royally f**king us. :face_palm:

I remember it, it actually started a war on Twitter at the time of City fans saying Sterling is better than Hazard because he scores more goals.

I'm horrified that people can compare Hazard to Sterling, the comparison disgusts me. People really have no shame.

We paid a fortune for Cucurrela after he had just  1 great season

Now we want to do it for another player after just one full EPL season.

Cucurrela was the Brighton fans player of the year, and everything I saw of him was good. All the football sites were raving about him. Why does this drop in form always seem to happen to us ?

If we get the other guy , I just hope he continues his outstanding form.

I'm not one who thinks everything was so much better in the old days but one thing I really don't like about modern football is all these top line obsessed football fans. Not only has that led to genuine unironic debates about the whether the likes of Hazard, Firmino (who was the attacking glue in that peak Klopp team) and Modric were overrated but has also given poachers who do f**k all else and take a lot more out of a clubs system than the goals (usually stat padding against the lesser sides) they bring an overinflated status, ala you know who.

What's worse is when you then try and explain the nuances to them they just ignore it and go GoAlS wIn GaMeS like a lawyer trying to win on a technicality.

So do goals win games or does conceding goal win you games? im confused now. What's the point of football? Is Gary Linker not a great player cause he was a goal hanger who made a career scoring goals in the box?

Think the point is more people try to down play a players importance these days if they aren't contributing with goals or assists. I've genuinely seen people on Twitter says Giggs was sh*t because he 'only' averaged a goal every 5 games.

Agreed, he's only a sh*t person 😃

BTW when did tv programmes and newspaper articles start showing statistics like xG or whatever? Years ago the theory was that 'soccer' would never be as big in the US as other sports deemed typically American, because it wasn't as statitics driven. We can bin that theory now, apparently along with players who don't deliver such a nice spiderwebbery drawing

I mean look, put Hazard in that Man City team and he would have scored more than Sterling, while looking unplayable as well. I guarantee you that.

What's your goals prediction for Raheem this season?

To put it in the most basic terms possible.

Stick three poachers in your front three and good luck having a good enough build up to even create the chances to score enough of those said goals.

I don't know, I won't read anything too much into pre season when players are solely working on fitness and new tactics.

Fingers crossed I'd be happy between 10/15 and a number of assists. I reckon the question is who will step up this season and deliver a target like that? I'm hoping a striker does, and a couple of wingers. If the midfield can start scoring again then everyones job becomes easier.

I'm merely sticking up for a player in blue ladies and gents. Never like seeing a player struggle and always want them to deliver until they either don't or show they're not a good enough level. Really think now that we've cleared a lot of deadwood form the squad, it is a chance for players like Sterling to shine. Wouldn't it be good if he does? He aint a Hazard, robben, duff or any other tricky dicky we've had, but he carries a goal threat and if he does that better than anyone else we have, so be it, he'll have my support this season until he either mugs us all off or delivers. Im quietly optimistic about this season.

Yeah, don't doubt it... Sadly, Hazard aint coming back and is in decline, we saw the best of him and wasn't it absolutely brilliant. However, We now have Sterling and I reckon he deserves this season to put right the wrongs of last. A lot of players need to step up so I hope this year the players take ownership of how they play on the field rather than hide behind a fat pay check each and every week delivering dross.

Always tries to beat 1 player too many!

other critics say he never takes anyone on. 🙂

My only comment is that Sterling is pretty fit and determined this season. He played lots of minutes yesterday and still had the energy and determination to chase back 30 yards at top speed to make a successful tackle. Think he will be a good member of the team this season.
