August 23, 20223 yr Leicester have picked a fairly strong side vs Stockport today, including Tielemans, who may be sold. No fofana in the squad too. No doubt in my mind they want to sell, they just want their price met and also don't want him to debut again them imo.

But we’ll sell for an offer we deem acceptable and the longer this goes on and the closer to the deadline this gets the more we’ll want.

And if people question why he’s valued so highly, sometimes a player comes along who just stands head and shoulders above the rest and it’s pretty obvious very quickly how good they are. Kante was one, Fofana is another.

Kante was a nobody when he signed for you, he and his agent had had smarts to insert a minimum fee clause that allowed him to go. Fofana and his agent should have done the same, they did not, their mistake.
August 23, 20223 yr Leicester City have rejected a 3rd offer from Chelsea for the defender Wesley Fofana. It is believed Chelsea are currently unwilling to go higher than £70m including add-ons. (via @David_Ornstein) #CFC #LCFC Interesting. I can’t see Leicester selling for £70ish.

We were linked with Adam Webster yesterday and has been said we have put a deadline of August 27th to agree a deal or we move on to another target.

August 23, 20223 yr Apparently we are preparing one more final offer that will go in this week. That offer is said to be the very maximum we agreed at board level to offer for him, add ons included, when we first started trying to buy him. If it is turned down we will be moving on to other targets as TT wants a CB badly and is willing to settle if he cannot have Fofana.
August 23, 20223 yr Sun (take with a pinch of salt) now reporting we have walked away. Won’t believe that until other credible journos say the same. According to Fab and other decent journos they think one more bid is coming.

August 23, 20223 yr Author They are only threatening to walk away to make the situation even more volatile I figure. Fofana will go mad

It sounds like one more, a last bid, will will be made and then a line drawn under it as either Leicester need a replacement, which they apparently have been looking in to, or we need to move on to another target before the window shuts. Our deadline for a yes is apparently August 27th and then us and Leicester can move on.

We paid that amount after about 20 starts in France because we thought he was that big a talent.

Be unhappy sure bit he has not even submitted a transfer request. Leicester are under only small pressure form him to sell him

Yes i remember potential, i remember Bayern Munich offering crazy money for CHO and us putting him on a silly weekly wage. Potential, pfft.

August 23, 20223 yr I’ve said it before but this tactic of getting 90% of the way in a transfer then moving on to other targets before finalising the 1st deal is a strange tactic. No wonder clubs are trying to fleece us, they probably see us as a club with crazy cash to spend but no real structure to how they are buying players. We should of had this deal done already if we are serious about wanting this player, then we should of had a striker in for the match against Leicester. Instead we are trying to do multiple deals before next week’s deadline. Which will either end up with some failed attempts or paying over the odds, there is even a chance we end up paying what the selling club wanted in the first place while spending weeks haggling and dropping points in the league.

August 23, 20223 yr I hope, if we really want him that badly, we offer them around 75mill, with realistic add ons, and see. If they reject that without even trying to negotiate then we know they won't budge from their "not for sale" attitude even if we chucked 100mill at them and we can all move on. If they at least come to the table then we know their is a chance.
