June 25, 20224 yr A few reports out there now that Juve won't accept a swap deal, and I cannot say that surprises me. Apparently they told us we either pay his release clause or they won't be letting him go.
June 25, 20224 yr https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10949135/Matthijs-Ligt-fancied-Premier-League-make-sense.html This article isn’t particularly great about Ligt. I hope Tuchel knows what he’s doing.

June 25, 20224 yr Profile wise, he’s a physical presence with clear leadership qualities - fills the gap left by Rudiger, no obvious weaknesses and a high ceiling in the game. The only big issue is the kind of money he’s going to be on as Juve threw everything at him in order to secure him from Ajax as there was massive competition at the time.

The talent isn't there. De Ligt is much more talented but him winning POTS doesn't necessarily make him a better option than Kounde, Gvavidol, Koulibaly or the plethora of CB's we are linked with. I'd be happy with signing him but if the fee gets ridiculous there are other options I'd prefer.

De Ligt is just one of them, but I agree that it is unlikely we will meet Juve's asking price. I could see us being willing to do a player plus cash swap but that seems to be off the table for Juve. I would still love to see Koulibaly at the bridge for some experience and physical strength. Then maybe one younger option like Guardiol or Kounde.
June 25, 20224 yr Update as it stands guys, Timo is interested in moving and willing to take a wage cut to go to Juve main reason is more guaranteed game time. Juventus want Timo as well, MDL (M, De ligt) wants move and would like to come to Chelsea. Now the only issue was the valuation of MDL and the amount CFC were willing to pay in compensation on top of Timo going the other way. Originally reported both Pulisic and Timo were offered, also reports Jorginho could be part of a deal these are all unconfirmed from any top or reliable sources. My top source I value over all others, as things stand claims CFC and Juve are getting closer and closer to reaching a compromise. What the final price could look like is anyone's guess. If we do some quick maths: If CFC value Timo between €40-50m and Juve value MDL at ~€100m you can see why they were not willing to take Timo + €25-30m. From my perspective based on what I'm hearing I think this deal happens guys, again no idea the eventual final sums but it is a deal that currently suits all parties once finances are sorted. The context MDL is regarded as Tuchel's top defensive target, Kounde could still arrive, but its now being reported by many that Kounde was a board/Marina signing and Tuchel isn't as fussed about landing him. So watch this space we could get both or we could choose MDL over Kounde and if that happens do not be too surprised.

As De Ligt is valued higher then it is whatever Juve value him and Timo at. We can say we value Timo at say 45mill euros, but if Juve turn around and say "hey if we were just looking to get him you know you would be doing a loan for 5mill euros and a buy option of 20mill euros on top". So if they value Timo at 25mill euros combined then does not matter what we value him at. On top of that a few are saying Juve don't want a part exchange because they want all cash for De Ligt so they can sign Kouilbaly and have plenty left over, and then, you guessed it, LOAN Timo from us. Imagine there's a world where Ziyech, Romelu and Timo all go on loan to 3 different Italian teams

Can we take De Ligt on loan for instance?
June 26, 20224 yr Tuchel has set his sights on landing Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt. Kounde is on 'hold'. Why would Juventus sell? Well Juve need the money, as the Italian giants want to raise funds to sign Neymar. Oh dear. If PSG can sell Neymar, then they are going to make an offer for Dembele. June 27, 20224 yr 70m Euro initial asking price down to 40m with Timo. Effectively selling Timo for £26m. I feel like he is close to turning a corner here but at the same time he could easily just fall back into old ways.
June 27, 20224 yr Even Werner at his best he is still vastly limited in what we want in our attackers. He's essentially a poor man's Leroy Sane.
June 27, 20224 yr So we are getting rid Timo, Ziyech and Lukaku and we are two defenders short...so basically we need those 6 signings if we want a midfielder too.....
