Matthijs de Ligt: Chelsea interested in Juventus defender

Rumour to make us get in to gear? Bayern don't often pay such fees and wages.

As I have said before Juventus are desperate to sell him as his wages and transfer fee alone will more than cover Koulibaly and Bremer.

He may be an exception as he the best CB around for his age round and he is a short term investment as well as a long term one. It is also evident that Bayern have been regressing and there defence needs a leader. Also the likes of Sane, Coman are on big wages so they would pay De Lijt big wages too imo.

Now we just need Real to Gazump us on Sterling, United on Ake and to end with 0 new signings.

I know a certain printer that would be most happy with this @mwblue10

I will saw this on Bayern though. Fantastic club, but playing in a tin pot league.

I get Mane going there, he is near the end of his career and he knows Bayern means German title after German title with a chance to win the CL.

But De ligt is young, he should be challenging himself to play the best leagues, not going to easy street. If he goes there is shows a real lack of competitiveness.

If anything that adds to the pressure.

You're not going to want to be part of the first squad to blow the league in a decade and you certainly won't want to be a player who signed the year before it happened.

Wont happen unless they play like idiots.

It's been on the verge of happening a couple of times but they changed manager on time.

All it takes is one complacent year and a possessed competitor, it's happened to Paris twice in six years.

Well things really are starting to feel a little desperate to me. Plenty of available players just don’t seem impressed with us/owner/TT… something

Joke club. No other club in europe seem to have the amount of f*ckery as Chelsea do. Clearly there are people involved who are way out of touch or out of their depth.

This deal is now on the brink of going south, but hey "advanced and constructive" talks are ongoing with Man City over Raheem Sterling. Utter bollox.

As soon as any player gets to the point of talking to us which seems to be after weeks of BS, they then have a complete u-turn.

We can only hope Sterling does the same.

The only reason you are all coming to the conclusion the club looks like a joke or clueless is if you believe every single transfer rumour to be fact.  On top of the fact you probably follow every single tiny bit of news regarding Chelsea transfers and only pick up the more substantial transfer news from other clubs.  My advice is to stop believing every rumour to be fact.  Personally I’m quite confident we will have a good transfer window.

Exactly, it's hilarious seeing someone get upset because we didn't sign a player we were rumoured to maybe be interested in perhaps, maybe......just because fabriziano knowsodall on twitter said so...who's really Keith in Slough.

Matt law has reported on most, This absolutely stinks if true, We are dropping targets left and right, Could be agents spinning to the media and hopefully this isnt true.

IF true what an abysmal transfer window so far.

Plenty of time but the quicker we get a few in the better for the squad going forwards, Pre season exists for a reason, Although not essential

Tbf, for that to be true I'd personally have to hope for most of the reports to be unsubstantiated. I've found them pretty depressing so far.

Overpaying for burnt out divas like Ronaldo or Neymar would be catastrophic. The money we agreed to spend on Raphinha could give us a real shot with Gnabry, the best attacking player I believe we could buy this summer. Ake is solid and usefully left-sided, but paying 15m less on him than what could score us Koundé would be painful. Sterling would be an alright transfer.

De Ligt was the only excellent serious transfer rumour so far, and even involved the possibility of offloading one of our attacking players. He seems open to a move, and him moving to Bayern for a reasonable transfer fee would be a real tragedy. At that point I'd have to hope for a set of completely new names to appear, or to actually just give our youngsters a shot next season.

I understand the ‘don’t overreact’ point. However the clubs directly above us and directly beneath us from last season have all made strong additions to their squad… in time for pre-season as well. It’s what the best run football clubs do. Set plans and execute. We are clearly not executing any type of plan as it stands.

Not convinced about the Bayern link, they’ve only spent over £40m once in their history, De Ligt is going for big money, worth every penny though. Not going to keep regurgitating my De Ligt PR campaign as to why but he’s the only ‘elite’ option in the window in terms of availability and he ticks all the boxes. With the new Dutch connections at United I’d be more concerned with them being linked, as we all know they like to throw money around, no CL football though.

I agree with you mate. Would be a key part of rebuilding our spine, instead of wasting our time and resources on Raphinha and Sterling.

Agree clubs like city and Liverpool have a board and manager that have been working together for years and their transfers have probably been planned for months possibly years.  As for the others it’s easy to think they are all doing good business when they could be buying a load of cr@p as usual.

You’ve got to bear in mind we’ve been sanctioned and just sacked off most of the board.  It seems like Tuchel has most of the say now this could mean previous targets might be off, at the very least plans must be disrupted.

My personal take is that the board was for Tuchel to continue with the back 3 and all targets where targeted with that in mind, but now Tuchel has been given full control he’s changed to a back 4.

The fact others clubs have had months of planning and we maybe starting from scratch means we are probably working harder and quicker than most.

Fact is we aint doing much, PL season starts in just a fraction over a month away, so not much time for pre-season i'd like to actually hear what Tod says, he's even more silent than Roman

Although I agree that we shouldn't take every transfer rumour as truth, I'm not as convinced we will have a good transfer window. Every club around us are getting players in and improving their squad and we are going into pre-season with no new signings. I wouldn't be surprised if Tuchel is getting frustrated, I'm sure he will want time with any new players we do sign before the new season starts.

TT and boehly are in charge of transfers, The frustration would have to be from not landing players they want!
