He is a much better defender than Stones and Laporte imo, and Diaz too. It would be a sensible signing. 

Though according to several sources, quoting German media, De Ligt has a verbal agreement with Bayern and will wait for them.

That is because teams don’t respect the new owner. They wouldn’t try this with Roman, and they lived in fear of upsetting him in case he goes after their key players. Boehly could have earned some respect by appointing a savvy sporting director as soon as get in the door, by trying to handle negotiations himself he has made a mess of things. Doesn’t help that he has sidelined Marina who was well respected, even though she isn’t most fans favourite.

what Boehly should be doing is star stirring the pot, start making phone calls to agents to target top players in the "european elite" teams. Doesn't matter if it comes off or not, just offer ridiculous amount of money to get a verbal agreement, all the sudden you will see the Barca or Bayern back off a bit.

I prefer us to take our time, get the right players than spending 97mil on another useless lump. The fact there is competition for who we are after says we are on the right track.

If you want us to shop at the top table instead of going for the Lenglet's, Richarlison's, Jesus' of this world then you have to prepare for this happening more often than not.

The cold heart reality is we are not as attractive to players as Bayern, Real and Barca are (if/when they start challenging for UCL titles again Milan can be added to that list too).

There's many things we can be criticised for in recent years but Brazilian players choosing Barca and Dutch players choosing Bayern would happen regardless of who's upstairs. United pre Glazers were the best run club for a long time but not even they could compete with those four when it came to the top tier talent.

I can’t see this being quick though. We will want to get some of our other targets over the line first as if we pay £75m for MDL then the price goes up for about other targets

Problem is not that some players prefer some specific clubs. Literally every player on the planet will have his dream club which he wants to play for. The thing that we take f**king ages and ages to sign our players. The way we sign players is so long drawn that people on every corner of the earth know which player we are trying to sign. We were linked to Tchouaméni for so long and what happened ? Real came in and done the deal in literally 10 days. Kounde's head seems to be turned by Barca the same way and De Ligt by Bayern. And by the way how did we end up in this mess ? We didn't even talk properly with the player who wanted to stay(Rudiger). And now we're willing to spend 70 mill + high wages on a replacement.  

The worrying thing is that literally nobody at the club knows who we want to offload and who we want to sign. The only deal done till now is Lukaku and that was also possible because he was hell-bent on leaving. 

It's about doing the business as quickly and efficiently as possible. Some signings do take time but almost all top clubs like Pool and City get their 1 or 2 main targets quickly and then assess the market for squad players. The current state of affairs reeks of disarray and lack of any planning.

I would argue our Dutch players have been better than those who have turned out for Bayern. The Dutch being more influential at Barca due to Cruyff.

On a side note I have to laugh at Bayern insisting that most the fee for Lewandowski is paid up front. As it is their belief Barca may cease to exist in a couple of years on their current financial trajectory.

Why ANY player would EVER choose the Spanish or German league in todays game is beyond me. Both leagues are completely and utterly dead. Genuinely if we sign this guy for £80mil (when we have Colwill) we because he looks good on a YouTube reel and has had smoke blown up his ass for a few years then god help this club and everything it stands for.
