Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

Featured Replies

Tuchel is a superior tactician, he's probably in the top 3 in the world. I also think Tuchel is the best knockout manager on the planet.

However, in league form, he's not been too great for us as I dont think he sets the team up to be competetive enough against the smaller sides. I trust him to beat Madrid, PSG and Liverpool yet don't to beat Wolves, Southampton or Fulham.

Can't compare Potter to Hodgson, that is beyond unfair. I've seen Potter's Brighton outplay us, Spurs, Pool, United and Arsenal on multiple ocassions. He is a top coach, it's just whether he can handle the big club atmosphere.

That's my biggest concern. If there's a long term project in plan then there should be a sporting director involved.

Long term aim is to win the league yes ?

No English manager has ever won the EPL.

So we go long term with an English manager.

We finished on 74 points last season with a massive injury crisis and huge  uncertainty around the clubs future. If James and Chilwell hadn't got injured we most likely would have finished in the mid 80's.

But it's Tuchel's abillty in knockout games that's going to hurt the most, I can't remember the last time we could get drawn against the likes of Real and have every chance of winning. Didn't even need to park the bus, we pressed them off the park.

City with Haaland are pretty much impossible to beat in the league right now, I'd happily take 3rd/4th under Tuchel where we were serious contenders for every other trophy.

We won't finish ahead of City in the league again until Pep and Haaland leave imo.

Unless Potter has an objection to moving during the season or doesn't fancy the poison chalice Bully is offering him, cannot see why this will not happen by this time tomorrow

even if it doesn't work out het will get a 8 million pound send off and being sacked by Chelsea isn't really a blemish on your CV as it is inevitable

Pretty sure Brighton got booed off last season and Potter basically called the fans ungrateful so perhaps the football isn't as good as we're led to believe.

it's not hard though to improve on the West Ham and Zagreb football

Could be wrong but in the last 20 years probably longer the only English managers to win anything are Arry FA Cup and McLaren league cup at Boro.

Only last season Potter went on a 12 game winless run in the league. He also went on a six game losing streak a few months later and had Brighton in the relegation zone for most of the season.

In addition to this Brighton scored the least amount of goal out of all the teams that weren't relegated.

Why are we after him again?

Tuchel's 5 at the back didn't always look so negative either. The big difference with Brighton and Chelsea is that teams don't sit back and defend against Brighton like they do against Chelsea. Teams set out to beat Brighton, Potter has no idea what it's like to play against teams that put every man behind the ball and tries to hit you on the break.

you're right and that's what the risk is, but every appointment is a risk, we've gone through wave after wave of 'proven' managers and the result is still the same so it could be Zidane, Poch, Simeone, Allegri or whoever people want and we end up doing the same thing, at least with this appointment on the surface seems to be a long term plan.

It is because he over achieved with Brighton and most importantly his ability to get along with hierarchy. Tuchel won the quadruple and took PSG to the champions league final but got fired because of his personality

he plays a back 5 too.. i dont think that i can see that formation again.. the only thing that i would like to see is a return to a back 4..

He also got 18 out of 24 points in his last 8 games last season + a really good start this season

Even without Haaland they're miles better than us. The only Chelsea players that would start for them are Reece James and Kante who's never even fit anymore. So really just one player. Personally I think Sterling is better than Grealish as well but that's about it.

Honestly a miracle we've managed to beat them in several cup competitions

I honestly don't see how he's any better than Nuno. If anything his record in the league is worse. 15th, 16th and 9th, and even last season Brighton were 15th in goals socred, so it's not even like he's an attacking manager.

Wish him the best of luck if he comes here but the hype around him is baffling

No, they didn't. You just made that up. In fact, they weren't in the relegation zone once last season. Their lowest position was 14th.

Potters BHA amassed the fourth highest average possession per 90 last season with 54.8 percent. Only Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea averaged more possession.

Only four teams scored fewer goals than BHA last season, three of them were relegated.

If he likes a lot of possession but fails to score much, i don't see why we got rid of Tuchel, other than we need a submissive gaffer to coach the players.

At least he's used to coaching forwards that are sh*t LOL.

As the Thais would say ... "Same Same but different !"
