Oh good, the required number of syllables.

Ok I gotta do this now Val has started..

We've got super Graham Potter

So what's he gonna do?

Back 3 or back 4?

Pulisic out the Door?

Can we qualify for the Champions League?

5 at the back, Havertz in attack, football that will make your eyes bleed..

I actually was!

Because I'm 100% certain if the pressure was on and his job was on the line he'd bench his son as well.

Hahaha, fantastic

I know i am starting to sound like a broken record but for me the manager isn't necessarily the issue. These players are critically unfit for the level of pressing football that is required from elite teams nowadays.

I am currently watching Napoli tear Liverpool apart (which i must admit is my guilty pleasure to own up to. I do honestly enjoy watching Liverpool get beat more than watching Chelsea win lately). Why because they are just fitter. They are playing with a higher intensity and tempo all over the park and are pressing like a unified team whilst the like of TTA and Gomez look on.

I wish Potter all the best but i have my doubts. Not in him but in the egos of some of the clowns that we have here. The most important signing will be the back room staff, the fitness and conditioning coaches.

We must get a higher tempo, a more dynamic and faster level of play overall and for sustanined periods. They need to be much much fitter than they currently are.

I suspect Potter will want to bring his backroom staff with him, if he joins. Most managers do that

I feel a lot more comfortable if the rumors that a sporting director is already confirmed and he suggested Potter to Boehly, are true.

That is what I wondered too, especially given that the decision was supposedly made some time ago. If this is the case then hopefully this sporting director in the wings also had a big say in our transfer targets.

Agreed, just hope the fitness coaches are real hard arses. I remember when Conte first came in during the atmosphere of "the rats" and after the Arsenal debacle he basically just ran their bollox off. I know we didn't have Europe that year but we were the fittest team in the league by a distance

That is promising, if it's true.

I mean, Potter is highly rated and apparently all of the top clubs have looked at him. My worry is that:

- he’s never won anything (Roman would always employ someone if they won something)

- He’s managing at a higher level. Can he make the step up?

- Will he be like Rodgers or Hodgson at Liverpool? Out of his depth.

I hope not. We’ll have to wait and see..

I think it's the cult of celebrity getting in the way to be honest. Fuelled probably by Ferguson, Jose and the growth of the internet and social media, the manager suddenly became a "star" and a discussion point as much as the players.

In the good old days, i.e. the first 25 years of my life as a Chelsea fan, I doubt I was even aware of the manager and his role in things match-to-match. It was all about the players.  I had a Ray Wilkins poster on my bedroom wall ... never one of Eddie McCreadie LOL. I can't recall a single manager I was ever attached to in the 70s, 80s and 90s ... even when the likes of Gullitt, Vialli etc were hired/fired.

From when I started going in 1978 John Neal without doubt is the first manager to make an impression on me.

@Munkworth do you reckon he’s a Nonsense Potter, cos he’ll inevitably lament, “why is it always little ol me”

Do you follow Andy on Twitter? All I see when I hear Graham Potter is his action man picture (TFTM thing). His tweets automatically delete though so I can’t find the f**ker anywhere!

Similar career trajectory to Sarri, starting out in the lower lower league

We all saw how that worked out.

The only way we could possibly compound the utter idiocy of sacking Tuckel 5 games in to the year is by hiring Potter.

No record as a player or as a manager. The egos in the dressing room will eat him alive. This is a "Oh he plays nice football signing" , but I'll make the same comment as when people were turning their lonely eyes to Eddie Howe a while back. There is a difference between over performing with a medicore team and winning every week with a team of players worth 300k a week.

This is a bad call that will end with us outside the top 4 and back where we started next summer.

If we go with Potter he is under so much pressure straight away. The players are looking at his training methods, does he put on good sessions. He’s got to have confidence to stand in front of a group, mainly full international’s and convince them he deserves the job based on his career so far.

Will soon see how much Todd really backs him.

Good post. Definitely true. Completely different working with unknown/lower signings to players elite players like Sliva, Sterling etc.
