Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

Featured Replies

It is going to be interesting.

A lot of clubs fans have previously spoken about Potter as a possibility when their manager was ousted.

So he is a dark horse option.

I have not watched Brighton much though have noticed they have good energy and it will be interesting to see how that translates to our game which is sometimes played at a pedestrian pace.

We are still going to have to break teams down that is the nature of facing sides with less creativity they play on the counter attack and if Potter wants to reach the echelons at the top of the game he has the challenge of finding an answer for us.

No-one can accuse CFC of being a boring club, the revolving door moves again.

Potter will have my FULL support and I for one am delighted that he has agreed to come to us. When you look at what he has achieved with small budgets, journeyman players and some inspired imports, it really is exciting to see what he can do with a hugely expensive bunch of misfits. We do have some fabulous talent in the squad and I just have a feeling that Potter will get the best out of them. He doesn't strike me as a bloke you would want to mess around, and he will see (like even a blind man can) that we lack real Leadership both on and off the pitch. I know it's completely another level to what he is used to, but his CV says that he has earned the chance to at least try and make it in the big time.

Then maybe Eden..

Maybe?

There was a time when he was at minimum top 5 in the world and probably the best in the premiership.

Eden was from that era though of having top players, and was exactly the point I was making when we signed Sterling a while ago.

People liked talking up ‘transition phases’ here, well this is one, I just don’t know if there is anything to transition to, and I think it will just be a chase all the time of achieving a 4th place from here on.

I hope Potter has the power and backing of Tod n Co, and the players are told to shape up or f**k off, New Captain, no Jorginho pissy passing, get the ball into the area at earliest opportunity, and enjoy the ride Harry

It's quite difficult to play sideways, sideways backwards football with pace.

No the problem is all the non world class players and their large egos.

Do you think that maybe Brighton also had large egos in their dressing room? Egos aren't just exclusive to the top tier. If the only egos are players that aren't crucial to the team then we're in a good place. The historic Chelsea problem was our egos were also our best players.

Hahaha not far off. Graham Potter reaches verbal agreement with Chelsea on 13m payout in June 2023.

Have to say the last 48 hours have really made me even more pissed off at Vladimir Putin. Wasn't sure that was possible but here we are...

I've got little doubt Roman would have sacked Tuchel at some point. And if he had we'd be looking at Poch lining up as our manager.

Oh yes please.

Noticed over the last couple of years Potter has taken Lamptey, Gilmour and Colwill to Brighton.

Do you think he'll come in and prioritise the academy lads? Chalobah back in the team, perhaps Broja starting games.

he turned Welbeck into a very effective number 9

from all our strikers i think Broja is the best suited to play a similar role. I think he's stronger in the air and on the ball than Aubameyang. Or maybe Havertz, although he didn't score enough goals, he has impressed me with his strength and physicality and sh*thousery

I don't want him to prioritize academy lads but I want him to give them a chance.

I think everyone here are excited about Borja and Gallagher. We have seen Gallagher and he has struggled but we barely saw Borja. After his nice cameo against west ham, we expected Borja to be given a chance against Zagreb but we saw auba instead.

As far as i'm aware no players from Brightons academy have gotten much of a chance with him with one exception and thats their goalkeeper.

with Östersunds he played a 4-4-2 so a slight variation on that might also be an option

Reecey - Fofana - Thiago Silva/ Koulibaly - Chilwell/ Cucurella

              Kovacic - Kante/Jorginho

 Mount -       Havertz              Sterling

                     Broja

I think we will bid for Lewis Dunk in the next window, their fancy MF,  maybe even Welbcke. We are going to make Brighton our feeder club 🤔

more likely that it will be Moisés Caicedo

who, i would add, i would like
