Potter's tactics explained here. Very similar to Tuchels. To be fair I don't see a difference there.

Anyway Potter's task is to improve in every area during his project here. One problem in that is we need to be top right away. If Potter for some magical reason gets away with that we should have continued with Tuchel.

After the eventual manager-bounce (how long may it be) he really has a work cut out for himself...

Anyway I hope he does well as always.

I don't want him to prioritize academy lads but I want him to give them a chance.

I think everyone here are excited about Borja and Gallagher. We have seen Gallagher and he has struggled but we barely saw Borja. After his nice cameo against west ham, we expected Borja to be given a chance against Zagreb but we saw auba instead.

prioritise was probably the wrong word, i agree i want to see them given a proper chance and keep their position if they prove it.

more likely that it will be Moisés Caicedo

who, i would add, i would like

Yes, Potter said 80M won't buy Caicedo's shoes last week, guess what, you are going to try to buy those shoes in January

Signing a 5 year deal apparently. That’s very lengthy.

Its the value of the deal not the length, how much will it cost to get rid of him with 3.5 years left on his contract is the only stat on his deal we need.

Chukwuemeka seems a similar profile of 8 as Caceido, obviously more raw due to his age though. Hopefully can nurture him into the same level of player.

I was actually thinking of starting a thread along the lines of biggest winners/losers in our squad after the management change, and I agree Chukwuemeka could well be one of the big winners ... would like to see Potter have a good look at Casadei as well.

Fits with all the recent business we've done, hopefully this and all the other long term contracts for players brings stability and an allowance to build.

Who ever the manger is they still have to find away to score against the low block.

watch the clips above

in some of them there are at least 8 opposition players inside the final third

Potter should've been given more time, sick of the culture in this club. Players getting away with dire performances week in and week out and it's Graham that gets the chop. Absolutely shameful.

Sorry, just practicing.

Welcome to the mad house Graham, hang on tight this could be a bumpy ride.  I hope you do well, but this ain't Brighton, this is the maelstrom called Chelsea.

I wonder which players will step up their games and which players will still want out, or will more want out.  If we see Pulisic starting in his current form, as he was the one apparently whining and crying to TB, then we definitely have a problem and an interfering group of owners but I hope its not like this. I hope all players, regardless of whether they are on the pitch or on the bench they are engaged and give him the support he will surely need.

I think we'll see contracts like Jorginho, Silva and others not renewed at the end of the season or sold off in January, especially the likes of Jorginho, Ziyech etc.

Anyway, onwards and upwards...this will certainly be an interesting season I think of ups and downs.

Excerpt from an article about him:

'On the face of it, Potter and Chelsea do not appear a natural fit. What is clear, however, is why Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have taken a shine to the Brighton boss.

He will provide an unwavering commitment to an attractive style of play. No matter the consequences, Potter demands his players stick to his vision. Even in the tightest of spots, he expects his players to look for a pass. Row Z isn’t in Potter’s playbook. Trust your own ability, trust your team-mates, trust the process.

There have been occasions when Brighton’s commitment to Potter’s vision has cost them goals — but that is a danger he is willing to accept.

Those who have worked closely with him say the coach’s most valuable asset is in his messaging to players. He simplifies his communication, his instructions are clear and concise.

Similarly, his tactical planning is said to be chillingly precise. Nothing is off the cuff, everything is methodical.

‘There’s never a wasted pass, everything is on purpose,’ said one well-placed source. ‘He watches the game two passes in front of everyone else.’

I wonder what players Potter will buy in January.

Going to be interesting to see what the new manager in February has to work with.

Potter will already have plenty of talent, to work with, that is in a different league to what he has worked with in the past. All players, try hard for a New Manager/Coach to begin with, so he should have full squad to choose from. Then all he has to do is fashion a plan that gets us playing attractive, attacking football while defending a helluva lot better than we have been. Then we won't need another manager or more players in February.

from DMail commnents:

Potters speciality is handling egos. That's how he's built his career and that's what every player he's ever had says about him. In Sweden what he did was sign players who while talented were deemed "to arrogant" or similar and made them in to a team. His whole success is built on handling egos and getting the best out of them. Chelsea have made a ridiculously good employment here and I wish him all the best
