One thing that should be mentioned is that Potter's Brighton had the highest net spend of any club outside the top 6 in the 3 years he's been there.

Given that, is finishing 15th, 16th and 9th the massive overachievement all the pundits seem to think it is?

Over the past 5 years, net spend is 18th of any team that played in the EPL.

Some reports are saying the release clause for Potter alone is 20mill. That is insane shesh.

His current one is 16, I believe? Makes sense it goes up a little bit.

Together with the £13m Tuchel pay off that's a £33m transfer lol, for a manager with no real credentials.

Or one Koulibaly  😉

I dunno potter doesn’t feel me with joy. Will he really turn things around? Will he be given long term?

managing this team is not easy.I’m not so sure that he will be an upgrade on tuchel and I can see fans wanting him out sooner rather than later

If that's true, I think Todd needs to fire his data analysts LOL

Definitely very expensive, but if he wins a haul of trophies it would have been paid back in spades.   I don't have high hopes if he comes, but if he does I wish him well in this mental asylum called Chelsea FC.

Very uninspiring name.

We are Chelsea and should be looking at top draw A class managers.

Optimism is great but nothing in his managerial history suggests he should be or can mingle with the upper echelon.

Brain dead, reactionary appoontment. Best he can achieve with Chelsea is 7th or 8th.

After going through the five stages of grief from Tuchel's sacking I am now ready to move on and accept this appoint for what it is. Looking forward to see what sort of team and system he puts out against Fulham. A lot of people have said that he plays three at the back so I expect that there will be a similar defensive set up. The midfield and the attack is what I think will change the most.

Jt approved:

Thank goodness for that. Surely that'll calm down the fans that are going apoplectic with rage. If JT says it's ok, then it's ok.

I'm quite excited about this next error era. I think it's well past time that a young English manager got a chance with a top six side instead of it always having to be Europe's flavour of the month or a ex-player 'legend'. Howe seems to be doing ok at Newcastle and everyone has just assumed that an English manager can't make the step up whilst having zero evidence to back up the assumption.

Don't get me wrong, I am not expecting a roaring success here, but I do have hope that the new owners, despite what has looked an erratic start, do have a plan or philosophy and that they will slowly implement it.

Would much much prefer Poch, guy had Tottenham conistently up there and to a CL final barely spending a penny. PSG is impossible to manage to hard to judge that, even then the only lost in the CL to the eventual winners last year

Won nothing, except a one horse race in France, Bottled the Champions League final, bottled the Premier League vs Leicester, and had the same as Jose, "toys out the pram" bust up with Levy, when things started to go awry. Don't want him at any price

You're ten years behind mate. We haven't even had a top draw A class player for ages.

I have high hopes for James and Sterling, Silva is amongst the very best we’ve had, but you then need to remember Kante, wasn’t A Class, he was world class, which is A++, Then maybe Eden..

Perhaps they could have done their research and interviewed him a month ago to find out what players he wanted this summer if they were looking to change manager.

Nothing Boehly has done since the day he bought the club has suggested he's done his research or has any kind of coherent plan.

Nearly 300m spent on players pretty much scouted by and selected by a manager only for him to be sacked as soon as the window closes with no idea if the new manager would want them.

Would Potter have wanted any of the players we signed? Other than Cucurella, we know Potter can get great performances out of Marc.

I very much imagine most managers would have wanted Fofana too.

The cucurella signing makes me think we had our eyes on Potter for a while now and with how quick it seems to be going through i wonder if there was contact with him before.

Find it funny how the vast majority of the footballing world were saying Potter is Pep's natural successor at City or England manager, but now he's coming Chelsea he's all of a sudden sh*t.

Who the f**k cares any more. This season has been a disaster and we're only 6 games in.

Glass half empty here !!  Give, whoever comes in a chance for Christ sake.  As you say 6 games in, and we are 6th and only 5 points off the top. Arsenal will fall away, Liverpool are sh*te, United's improvement is a flash in the pan and only City and regrettably Spurs look like challenging. We have plenty of good players, we have the likelihood that there will be a "honeymoon period" for the new man. Who knows Potter or whoever, may be really good at their job and get a tune out of our expensively assembled squad ??  You have to remember this is CHELSEA FC. We always confound our critics 😉

I wonder whether JT will be bought into the first team. Wouldn’t be a bad idea given his love for Potter.

Don't think this is a bad shout tbh. We've always done well when we've had people associated with the club on the coaching staff. Steve Clarke for Jose, Ray Wilkins for Carlo and Eddie Newton for Conte. Somebody who gets what it means to play for Chelsea and can lay that on for the players.

Who is this so called top draw A class manager?
