Graham Potter (Now Sacked ) - *Official* New (Now Old) Chelsea Manager

Featured Replies

I have full confidence in Potter. He apparently wants a guarantee that the owners will be patient and that it will be a long-term project. I know, I know, the likelihood is he will be out the door in 2 years time, but he is experienced in the PL and plays fluid, attacking football.

I was watching the MOTD highlights of Brighton dismantling Leicester last weekend and thought 'that's the sort of football we should be playing!'. Funny now that Potter is about to be our manager and he has, on paper anyway, some incredibly talented attacking players like Reece James, Chilwell and Sterling at his disposal.

I'm not so sure. Boehly seems to want a long term manager, at his baseball team they've had the same manager for 7 years now. It seems like he knew Tuchel wasn't fit for such a role and got rid at the earliest opportunity.

I really hope he is a long-term manager. I thought Tuchel was going to be here for years to come and yet...here we are. I'd like to think that under Todd's ownership things will change but...

We had a proven manager who needed time.....

He may or may not work but this is a good qualification for the job:

"while at Leeds, he completed a master's in leadership and emotional intelligence."

On the other hand he has also apparently been marked as a future England Manager and that surely is a deep black mark. Is he the new Big Sam?

TBF Tuchel was widely known not to be a manager for the long term, just look at PSG and Dortmund and how that ended.

Loved Tuchel to bits but looking at it objectively it may have been right.

Yeah he does tend to have an expiry date, certainly from the Dortmund experience. I wouldn't count PSG though. They've discarded Pochettino, Carlo and Tuchel after pretty short stints.

Even if he does have an expiry date, 18 months is a short window, even José normally lasts 3 seasons!

Done deal. Best of luck Graham.

You will need it.

Will alway support the club. Personnel come and go, the club remains.

A bit deflating though that after all my excitement of Colwill an Perhaps Gilmour flourishing under Potter, he will now possibly leave Brighton.

Wonder if the term agreed allow us to recall Colwill.

Verbal agreement reached between Potter and Chelsea for him to become Chelsea's next manager....Skysports reporting.

Of course he has verbally agreed. We're f**king Chelsea and he's Graham Potter. All his Christmas' have come at once.

Exactly he's just won the national lottery...

A little poem I constructed in honour of our new managerial appointment:

We've got super Graham Potter,
he's got a magic wand,
imbued with skill and wizardry,
with blessings from across the pond.

He's Boehly's man of the hour,
long face and ginger beard,
he'll take us to the top of the premier league,
once again Chelsea will be feared.

Well I for one will back him. At least for a while.

He may have won nothing, but we all have to start somewhere. It’s like a promotion to him.

Let see what happens, the CFC rollercoaster is never boring at least only what we seen on the pitch lately.

onwards and upwards

probably conference cup next season with potter..He's not proven at all and the season already started. Good luck to him. I will give him until the World Cup. Then a new "long-term" coach comes in.

Hahaha not far off. Graham Potter reaches verbal agreement with Chelsea on 13m payout in June 2023.

Have to say the last 48 hours have really made me even more pissed off at Vladimir Putin. Wasn't sure that was possible but here we are...
