JT would work, at least he'll inspire the players or go down fighting ....

Like he did in 15/16?

He's a great leader but not a magican.

Tuchel himself is a fan of it.

So what this is a fans forum how many people tonight do you know have mentioned XG ? In the North End Road tonight it's bollocks to Potter he's out of his depth not meaningless crap like that you're a good poster but sometimes you get bogged down with statistics.

surely in the very least the players will respect a proven winner..... there's not a chance they respect potter and that's the problem, they're being forced to

BBC headline 'Chelsea must stick with Potter' when we're 11th

Heaadline just a week ago 'Conte sacking a formality' whilst they're in 4th

Compared to how other managers have been hounded out, the media protection is crazy 😂

Ha. Why do you think that is? Any idea?

You didn't hear about the Conte press conference then?

Until the real fans show their feelings about the fraud that Potter is, the more soccer ball Boehly will continue to do nothing. And don't tell me real fans don't boo. It's the tourists that our club increasingly appear to covet that couldn't care less. Boehly, this club will die if you continue to nurture these type of supporters.  Don't forget it was that non-entity Chris Bryant (Labour) that forced Roman out.

Say what you want about Roman but I sure miss his standards.

11th? 11th? 11th?

Anyway it's not surprising, we will finish season higher in 2 places ahead.

That's what the expertise of our young, dynamic manager guarantees.

I get your point but I'm not sure Conte is the best example to use LOL given what he said about the players and the whole culture of the club, including the board. That sort of outburst makes his termination a formality for sure !

Villa have showed what can be done with a simple management change.

Gerrard not performing, won 2 drawn 3 lost 6 in the PL, gets sacked, they bring in Emery who is now won 9 drawn 2 lost 4 and joint 3rd in the PL for points since he arrived. Similar group of players (couple of ins/outs in January), no pre-season ... etc etc

They would have if it was the other round, for example when we won the reverse fixture but would have lost but for Kepa, and wasn't that the sign of things to come?

Said it on the match thread, and will repeat it here - for all the arguments of systems, selections, and tactics, we were beaten today for 2 reasons. 1) a horrendous error by a £60m defender.  2) Our players have a seizure every time they get to shoot - with Mudryk being particularly guilty.

Any manager in the world could who could have sat in the dugout today wouldn't have changed that.

For what it's worth, I thought we played pretty well going forward in the first half and should have scored at least 3 goals during the game (Mudryk should have passed to kai for a tap-in, Mudryk should have scored when through on goal, and Felix should have picked out Mudryk for an easy goal when 3 on 2).

But alas, the negatives continue to outweigh the positives. Main ones being:

- Reece should be RWB i.e his position - stop f**king around with stupid experiments and putting square pegs in round holes.

- K2 is a disaster - inspires no confidence.

- Brain fart from Cucu. Cost us dearly.

- Too many players look lightweight losers (no winning mentality). Kai, Felix, Mudryk, Madueke, Gallagher, K2, RLC all do not ever seem like winners to me. Only Chilly, Enzo and James really have that look - and even James I am concerned about. The same is true for Potter who for me doesnt have the "look or feel' of a winner.

- Felix, as good as he is on the ball, holds on to it too long.

- Mudryk and Madueke - aside from not looking like that have a winning mentality, also simply do not look good enough.

- Why do none of our shots have power? they are all weak as f**k.

- Uninspiring post match interview from Potter. Bland regurgitated rubbish. He needs to put a rocket up some arses, but instead we get the "really organised, we created some chances, disappointing to lose' shtick.  Loser talk.

Positives:

- We are creating chances again. For months under TT we hardly created anything - 1 or 2 shots per game. Now we are actually creating - we just can't shoot.

- Kante returns

- Enzo still best player.

I would suggest that the shots are as weak as fck and the team lacks fighting spirit, because the manager is draining the players of confidence ... just looking at the bloke let alone listening to him is affecting their instincts .... Mudryk today had no killer instinct in front of goal... that is not normal ... My son plays for a team that I coach and instinctively bangs goals in.. it's what players live for, but not for this donut manager

I agree with most of that post, but on the chance creation aspect , the basic facts simply don't support your statement.

Shots per PL game this season is 12.9 (with shot conversion of 8%). Last season it was 16.8 (with shot conversion of 12%).  We had more shots per game under Tuchel (we did score 76 goals in 38 games after all ... )

It's just a personal feeling but Trevoh hasn't really been prone to mistakes like K2 or Cucurella but has been frozen out since the World Cup

He's not a world beater by any means but does a good job whenever he plays. Not sure why Potter would rather play James as CB than give Trevoh an opportunity.

The thing is while you could make an argument that the result was a freak in the contexts of possession, shots, xg etc, you absolutely cannot argue that it was a freak result in the context of our form under Potter.

There are no absolute rules in football management, but imo you should avoid playing two natural fullbacks in a back 3 in almost every possible circumstance. When I saw the line up today I was reminded of the Brighton away line up.

For me, these are tactical choices you can make when you are absolutely confident your players are happy and totally adapted to your ideas. That is patently not the case at the moment, and when you think that this is a back 3 that has never played together (in this context), and you have a natural center back on the bench in chalobah who is stylistically similar to the player he is replacing, it has to go down as an unforced error.

As for mudryk's misses, yes, in the context of the game you expect him to score one and lay one off for a tap in. But in the context of his confidence, his selection and non-selection, his fitness, etc, these are all decisions the manager takes. He is choosing to select an out of form player in an unfamiliar position.

Unfortunately Potter's tenure as manager has been littered with similar unforced errors. In this sense, he has not been unlucky, and was not unlucky today.
