You can`t be serious.

About what? I understand if you are so anti-Potter that you were always Potter out before he came, but people have to engage their brains and understand context. If you seriously don't think Potter has had a arguably a more difficult time at Chelsea than any other since Roman took over then not sure what to tell you. I'm also not blind enough to understand that Potter has to take blame too, but so many fans seem to think every thing bad at the club at the moment is down to Potter. It seems that those against Potter were always against him and anything he does is criticised because he's not a flashy name and hasn't won any silverware, as if winning silverware is the only important thing for being a good manager.

Sean Dyche had Burnley in European places a few seasons ago, but many people consider him to not be a top coach simply because he's known for managing Burnley. Potter did well at Brighton before taking over at Chelsea, now people keep saying he's a sh*t coach and all this nonsense. Silverware isn't the only indicator of being a good coach. People bang on about Arteta at Arsenal winning the FA Cup, forgetting they also had a very kind run in the cup. If we had the same run as Man Utd in the cup this year, I think we would have got to the final too. Sarri was known as not having won anything, then comes to Chelsea and happened to win the Europa league against Arsenal. Leicester won the league under Ranieri, doesn't mean Ranieri is world class. There is so much more to being a top coach than silverware, but people think that's all that matters without context.

Agreed.

Where people keep comparing the situaton Potter is in to the likes of Klopp, Arteta, ETH, etc, I would be interested to know what the lowest goal scored tally is or points gained during the darkest 15 game period of any of these managers as well.

Yeah because Tuchel started the season amazing didn't he. It was even said that the preseason was one of the worst the players have had. Losing 4-0 against Arsenal was far from acceptable during preseason. We were embarassed by Leeds, then go away to arguably the weakest team in the CL group and lose. Potter came in and we went undefeated in the CL group. We made it look pretty simple vs AC Milan, the same Milan side that recently beat Tottenham.  There have been glimpses of good performances from Potter in charge, but not enough for various reasons.

What can Potter do when we are robbed of a pen decision against West Ham that could have resulted in us winning the game. What can he do when players like Felix are sent off against Fulham for a stupid decision making. Or missed chances against teams? He can't control the chances missed by individuals can he? Against Dortmund we performed brilliantly, dominated the game away from home, but is that Potter's fault that Felix misses pretty simple chances? Of course not. There's more context than just Potter is to blame for every dropped point/s. Liverpool were gifted a win vs Leicester due to own goals. Was that Klopp's brilliant tactical mastery that resulted in that win?

Here is something he could do, or not do, to be precise.

Don't put Mason Mount up against Eric Dier on corners and certainly don't put Raheem Sterling, who has no defensive capability whatsoever at the back post marking Harry Kane, Tottenham's most prolific goalscorer.

Really? Rashford scored 17 goals under Ole Gunnar, so does that mean OGS is a world class coach too? Rashford has always had world class ability and mentality, he was just low in confidence for whatever reason. I highly doubt it's solely because of the manager. Vardy's best seasons came under Ranieri and Rodgers, neither are world class. Vardy is just a very good striker and always had that consistent ability. I agree that some can be down to the manager, but it's also the mindset of the player. Hazard's best seasons came under Sarri and Conte, but many chelsea fans were saying that Sarri was too old and not good enough, never won anything etc. Is Sarri not good enough?

There are many players who haven't improved us. Ziyech came to Chelsea with great stats, but he's been poor under multiple coaches. The same for Werner and Havertz too - they looked like world beaters in Germany, but at Chelsea their form slipped. I don't think it's simply a Potter issue with them as other managers tried and didn't get much out of them. There's way more context. I am not excusing Potter because of course he's the coach and needs to find a way, but context is important and he's had a tougher time than arguably any other manager at Chelsea imo.

But pinning your excuses on too many players is rubbish. A coach with 30 players has exactly the same as a coach with 25 players. Choose your 25 players and go with them. Make your strand with your group and have the minerals to take it on the chin if you get it wrong.

This guy had Ziyech out the door. We didn't think he would return from Paris at one point, thought he'd do an hotel room sit in over the signing debacle.

He has played him throughout since and therefore, by association, has frozen out someone that he will later rely on. Pinning your hopes on a guy that doesn't want to be here and alienating peope who do is cr&p management. As is freezing out the only proven striker that we have until there is such a clamour for some attacking intent to be put on the pitch that you then go to him in the last ten minutes of a game already lost. Let's not even go there about substititing a young striker you are supposed to be developing against the team bottom of the league, and replace him with a midfielder who is currently out of form in his own position let alone somebody else's. Weak, rubbish management, from a guy who is supposed to have an "ology" in this stuff.

It's laughable isn't it...the arteta comparisons (even though I'm still not convinced by him, lucky with injuries and out of both domestic cups, let's see next season with cl etc.)

Even then potter is a shambles in comparison to first season arteta.

Graham "all fur coat and no knickers" Potter .. one of the finest examples of the Emperor's New Clothes I have ever seen. His principal talent appears to be the art of managing upwards, not only in securing jobs in the first place, but also, and quite bizarrely, the avoidance of getting fired despite sustained mediocre performance. He's an absolute genius at both of those things. If only he could translate some of that genius into the scoring of goals and attainment of points, and the winning of games ...

Boehly has well and truly had his pants pulled down, but unfortunately he seems to be enjoying shuffling around without pulling them back up LOL

I think he's got 12 weeks to turn it around, 3 months to this day is our last game of the season, 14 league games and 1-6 CL games, probably 15 games will decide his fate, starting this weekend with Leeds.

Now the question is what does he have to do between now and then to win the supporters who have have declared "he has to go"?

Lets just say we do improve and start scoring again, and performances look a lot better, what does he need from the last 14 league games ?

We have three tough away fixtures MU, Arse, City, i think he needs to win one of these at least.

I think this is what he needs minimum......

Play better at the very least, have the team working together, play some good football, and scoring some goals that accurately represent the quality of this team.

So I'll be honest he's not going to be able to convince me this season, I still don't think he'll be the right manager for this job. It'll take some good consistency going into the next season for me to think he's the man to take this team forward.

Normally the minimum  is 40 points to stay up so best go for at least 45 points to be sure.

Until we get a win confidence is low.

I expected us to beat the Saints and also next up Leeds yet lets wait and see.

I'm trying to define exactly what he needs to do, What if he goes W11 D2 L1 GD+20 ?

Just playing devils advocate here but weren't Arsenal in the European conference league then? CBA to go a find their games but wouldn't he have been coming up against some seriously shocking teams to stat pad against. Goals conceded fairly similar we just quite clearly don't have a striker still.

Some people will just dig in and refuse to support him no matter, happened to Tuchel, even with a CL final win.

I only want to know ....

P14 W? D? L? GD?

Just show that he can this team consistently playing well together and we look dangerous again. That would be a good start wouldn't it? He doesn't have to win every game.

Like I said, he won't convince me this season as I never wanted him to begin with, that's my choice. But if he was to take some kind of good form into next season and we looked like the package, I could definitely change my mind. I just can't see that happening at all.

In the Spanish press they are reporting that Luis Enrique is on his way to Chelsea.  Apparently he met with Todd and Co., three days ago. I mean Todd is being stubborn as GP was his choice after all, but at some point a new manager is inevitable.  Unless we see a GP miracle? GP wins the CL?  And anything is possible in football. But GP is losing the squad. He is losing the dressing room.  We all know what that means. Apparently Luis want to bring in 4 new players.  He wants to keep Felix and he does not want Nkunku. But I am not sure that is possible, as I understand that the Nkunku deal is done.

Hard to argue Arsenal stat padding when we had the chance to stat pad against the worst team in the league at home, but ended up losing 0-1....

Arsenal also had some utter gash at the time in Mustafi, Bellerin, Pablo Mari, Kolasinac, Sokratis, Pepe, etc

For me I would like to see some sort of plan in place for going into next season. We keep being told this is a long term plan but what is this plan?

Potter has been here since September he should already know who he wants for next season. Reduce the squad size by taking control of the team if one of his excuses is the playing squad is too large to train properly.

what system is he going to use next season start it now. Get the players used to it and stop making 5-6 changes every game.

I’m sure most supports would put up with indifferent form if it meant going into the next season well drilled, playing good football and competing but the football at the minute is terrible and Potter looks lost.

Personally if he doesn’t make any changes i can’t see us winning many games to the end of the season

I would love Potter to answer why to every claim you throw there...he answers pretty well when people accuse him of something

Who wouldn't want the job for £60m for 12 months work ?

I will be up for this move if his basic salary is £1m PA and everything else he earns is performance related.

We have GP on a nice long term salary and package.  This is the deal that Todd prefers. But I think he misunderstood how coaching/management works in the UK and Euro.  long time contracts for young players is smart, but managers need to be on a shorter leash.  GP still has time and of course GP is a nice bloke, but it aint working, and it is hard to see how it is going to work.  The deal with Luis is only verbal at this stage.

Still backing Potter myself @coco, but in terms of results from those league games hopefully we can at least manage:

P 14 W 4 D 4 L 6

I think he'll be sacked if we only win 4 more games.
