Players are not good enough at the top level. We had that perfect storm of Mendy being superb, Silva marshaling a magnificent defence, Kante dominating midfield and even Pulisic contributing to our CL success.

However time has gone on, Kantes injuries happen more often, Mendys Malouda year is done, our other defenders cannot make up the difference at the back and our forwards are even worse.

I agree. That's why I think he won't last if he wants to play a similar brand of football

Depends on how well he gets on with the owners, and if we make money.

Imo our priority has gone from being the best under Roman, to making money.

You don't get it, that type of football clashes with the way these players play football. Tuchel's best football with these players is the best iteration of Potter's football.

If Tuchel can't motivate these players with almost the same brand of football despite winning the actual CL with them, I really don't see how Potter can get a tune out of them. I would be very surprised if the musical theater therapy works

We'll see if not constantly throwing the players under the bus after lost games could have a positive effect on their motivation and self-confidence.

Only if he keeps us in Top 4 spots.

Has not bothered Arsenal.

Hasn't bothered Arteta, they still sacked Emery and Wenger.

Does Potter get on that well with Todd? Who knows

He had better forwards at Brighton too, even Welbeck and Trossard would be ahead of Ziyech, Havertz, Pulisic and Mount.

Are you saying that our attacking players are sh*t and Tuchel wasn't the problem ? Yeah i agree.

Baring Sterling, yup they are. TT was not the problem there, he apparently was the problem for not getting along with the owners.

And the 4th worst goal tally.

That was in his best season at Brighton as well. That's why I'm surprised so many people think he will have was playing more attacking football than Tuchel

True, exact words from Boehly yesterday, which was alarming to be honest.

I wonder where Potter will go from here, keep it tight at the back and trying to grind out some wins ( like Tuchel did), or takes the complete opposite approach

Don't think it matters, nor do I think it matters who the manager is. Potter, TT, Pep or Todd himself, they would all fail this season.

We spent nearly 300mill and what do we have to show for it?

2 deeply flawed goalkeepers who's level is a Bournemouth or Fulham?

A defence who are carried by a 37 year old, while our captain now looks like an inferior version of the end years of Ivanovic?

A midfield that is still deeply dependant on a rarely fit Kante, a declining Kovacic and the very limited Jorginho?

An offense (Sterling excluded) that lacks vision, creativity and, above all, the ability to hit efforts on target and score goals?

There is not one single element of this team, not even one, you can point to hand on heart and say "they are class", "We have a world class keeper, back four, midfield, creator, goalscorer" etc.

We have Silva, we have Sterling and, when he is fit, we have Kante. The rest of this lot are bottom 6 material and that is shocking for the investment made by both Roman and the new owners.

On the plus side we have a manager experienced in relegation battles...but frankly he and Silva deserve a lot, lot better.

All more than fair points.  We must step back though - this effort is a multi-year restructuring of the club on and off the pitch.  We didn't become a bad side overnight, and are only 100 or so days past new owners.  The football is dire to watch, and we've somewhat lost our way the last few years (despite some momentous highs).

Much to be optimistic about.  Excited to see if Potter can fulfil his potential, and what that may bring out of some great players.  Reece, Mount, Gallagher, Broja, Chilwell, Cucu, Chalobah, Colwill, Havertz, Fofana - there is quality there.

I hope it improves soon, but before we even kicked a competitive ball this season (and before the nonsense I saw first hand in Vegas and Orlando) I stressed patience.  I remind myself to be patient now before every game.  Doesn't stop me yelling, and for fun I tracked my pulse last game, which went from a rest 60 to an in game 125 vs. West Ham.

I think this may be a throw away season, but at a minimum we need to start seeing better football and the results to follow.  KTBFFH!

Let's see if the owners do give Potter time. Todd also claimed Salah is a product of our youth system, so am taking what he says with a pinch of salt.

3 managers on and we still rely on the same midfield and 3 man defence of 2 old CBs and an out of position player.

I see no difference with Potter

Yeah its ridiculous. The Jorginho, Kovacic and Kante age is done, the club needs to move on from it and change our midfield. Two of them are injury prone and one of them simply isn't good enough.

I want a humble and respectful team that runs hard.  Potter said.

I like Potter and think he has great potential, I really do. Quotes like this have me worried, however.

Are we trying to compete with Real Madrid or Leeds?

Feels like another transition year ( really it is given we sacked & hired after 7 games) to write off. If Potter is in for the long haul,  let him do whatever he thinks it needs to be done, and just promise NOT to get mad and press the reboot button after some ordinary results. I'm pretty calm now after last week's madness, result tonight was totally predictable, and the best ( or worst) is yet to come.

I've always liked the managers that with confidence and assurance says what they will do with the team from the get go.

Like "We will create a team no one wants to play against" from Tuchel or "We will be Champions" from Mourinho etc. Potter seems to have a very different mindset.

I don't think Potter got any excuse if he doesn't compete in the Champions League this season and get Top 4. Tuchel did it from a similar starting point, why shouldn't we expect the same from Potter?

Yes, it's odd to reconcile those sentiments humble, respectful, runs hard, with the decision to put Ziyech on the pitch.

With, arguably, the worst finishers in the league. You should see a miss compilation; it is awful. And I mean missing right in front of goal.

They also missed, I believe, 10 penalties in a row; 2 in one match. And that was with multiple takers.

Gutted we didn't even get the new manager bounce, still I learnt a while back to switch of my emotions,I now just watch and stay calm even through the crap, the days of punching the wall or screaming at the tv doesn't change anything. We had a brilliant 20 year ride with Roman but there are more things in life to worry about.I wonder if the asylum will let me out for our next game.
