Personally I wouldn't pay £100 million for Caicedo the same as I wouldn't have paid £100 million for Rice. However, if Boehly, Egbalhi and Pochettino really want him stop dicking around, pay what Brighton want, and get it done.

Liverpool have not removed their bid for Caicedo. Chelsea want the bid removed, as Caicedo has made it clear he wants to join Chelsea & then Chelsea won’t have to go above Liverpool’s bid.

As a retaliation, Chelsea (similar to Liverpool with Caicedo) have put a £50m overall package bid in for Romeo Lavia to Southampton that has been accepted.

Why not just match the Liverpool bid of bid a couple £000,000s than Liverpool have? Like someone said it’s a dangerous game. The longer this goes and it could be a decision made in hours or days, we risk Caicedo changing his mind. 

I feel it will be ignorant to be surprised at what happened yesterday. Brighton were greedy, but again we should have gone so high for this player before now. 

He's worth it. This is why we have decided to use this transfer strategy this summer. Many clubs don't want to sell players to us, we've anticipated this, but we've made sure that Caicedo wants to join us. Whatever any club wants to do about Caicedo, we have made sure he wants us. 

Liverpool may just try, but he wants Chelsea. There is nothing Brighton can do about it.

There you have it, 12 hours later looked like we are back in the driving seat 🤫  Only winner out of this saga is Brighton, they ended up getting more than what they expected. I'm happy if Caicedo is a Chelsea player, hardly feel like some kind of victory. With 2 100M+ MF in the team, we need to get back into the CL, unlike the Roman era the investment will be returned

It's a proper process of price discovery. Liverpool valued him at 110. If we pay a similar amount +- 5% it's hard to argue it's the wrong price. It's where the market for this player is right now. Fans, players and management can be happy that we have paid the market price, not been held to ransom, not done over by Brighton management, not been mugs. Equally Brighton's judgement about the market value of their player was also correct and their decision to hold for the market price vindicated.

Liverpool were serious enough for Klopp to announce it as a done deal and schedule a medical. Hard to seriously see it as a gigantic stich up.

I wonder how Bloom feels about all this. I doubt he is happy with Caicedos behavior.

He may refused to sell to use to spite him. Still gets 110mill from Pool as no way he picks sraying at Brighton over joining them.

Haha, it really is a perfect, laboratory example. Should be in economics textbooks everywhere from now on!

It's why I couldn't subscribe to the "we bid £100m and we could have got him if we just did that in June" theory.

Had we bid that at an early stage Bloom would have 100% raised the price.

It’s easy for us to criticise the negotiations. But we don’t really know the full picture
