It's only been 2 months.

I certainly haven't seen enough from Felix to suggest we should spend over the odds for him at the rumored 80m, but I don't agree to the idea that we haven't seen any sparks of creativity or attacking influence. He's very exciting when he has the ball but his overall game needs improving.

He tell you that personally?

Hazard was Chelsea main player for 8 season

He played well one season then took the next season off then the cycle continue.

Which seasons did he take off?

Imagine if Hazard had to play in a non-scoring team managed by Graham Potter in which pretty much every player was a shadow of their former selves ...  what a frightening thought LOL

He literally carried Mourinho's defensive setup for the second half of the season in our league winning season.

It's bad enough this narrative keeps getting spun by rival fans. Hiddink confirmed Hazard was playing through a hip injury.

So comparing a fully fit Felix to an injured Hazard is even worse then.

Strange you say that.. Conte one of the best modern coaches said his team failed because of a lack of all of the above and not due to tactics and techniques.

there are a lot of good technical players around who don’t make it because they don’t have “heart desire”.. etc.. I don’t think there is a debate to be had in terms of what is more important because I think both are equally important.

Felix would have been fantastic back in 2012 when teams used to have actual number 10's. The Mata/S.Silva/Ozil/Isco era of football. There's a reason that brand of footballer died out, no place for a luxury player in teams these days.

We scored 73 goals that season, and Hazard got 19 of them.  Subtract Hazard's 19 and you still have a number 12 goals higher than any team of Potter's has every scored in the PL.

Mourinho was a god damn attacking genius in comparison to our Graham LOL

The majority of that was scored before Xmas. After the loss to Spurs (?) Mourinho spent the next 4 months shutting up shop for 1-0's and relying on Hazard. Costa went haywire and decided he couldn't be arsed to score anymore.

22 goals in 16 games (with only 1 defeat) is a Potter dreamland LOL. If only we had it that good !

Give Potter prime Hazard instead of Felix and i imagine we score similar numbers to that.

I doubt Hazard scoring 6 goals (incl. 1 penalty and 1 penalty rebound) in 16 games would make much difference to results with Potter in charge ... it's not much difference from Felix's rate of 2 in 7 to go to 6 in 16 ... equivalent to 1 extra goal, maybe 2. Or zero goals difference without the penalties 🙂

influence on games though. Teams had to set up two men to mark Hazard, teams now just have to slightly press Felix on the edge of our box to capitalise with a goal.

He is by far the best in our team with the ball - seems so comfortable with it. Normally instant control. Can run at pace. Can spot a pass.

Just no end product.

You can see the potential but at 23, and having been around senior football for so long, the window for potential is closing rapidly. I think he is capable of close dribbles, slide-rule passes and outrageous finishes but lacks the mental attributes to do that consistently, and that's why he'll never be a top tier player.

The definition of a luxury player. There's a reason why no one uses a number 10 anymore like back in the day with Mata/Ozil/Isco etc. If we had him in 2011 he'd have been good, these days he's worth about £20m to a mid table team.

Joao Felix in 9 Premier League games for Chelsea this season:

-6 Key passes

- 1 Big Chance created

Kante in one game vs Liverpool

- 3 Key passes

- 2 Big chances created

Big pass, don’t get sucked in by Jorge Mendes PR machine.

That's damning.

Think he's a talented bloke but I don't see how anyone can watch last night's performance (and his performances since he's arrived) and come to the conclusion we need him, when we already have Nkunku coming in and Felix will likely cost 80m. To which those funds could actually be allocated for a bloody ST.

Or a swap with Havertz...

That would be the ideal scenario for me.

Havertz and Felix are such similar players (and even same age), I can't understand why any coach would play both at the same time, especially when neither are much of a goal threat. But Felix offers a lot more than Havertz and seems to have it all bar the goals. Some of his play is sublime - very Hazard like, and I wouldn't hesitate to take him as a permanent and offload Havertz who has run out of chances and was shocking again last night.

Would need him to cut out the diving and card waving though. Hate to see that.
