So Conor isn't really suited to a team looking to dominate possession like us. £40m to Palace might be the best for both parties in summer.

He can, if you watch arsenal, xhaka is playing pivot but he doesn't do much ball progression duty. It is zinhcenko job to do so. Xhaka on the other hand do most of his work up high. I can see gallagher excelling in such role.

In the end of the day it is not about possesion vs non possesion. It depend on player role and who do you want to get the best out of. If you look at united, ten hag is known for possesion football but ten hag will be stupid to force united playing possesion football when his two biggest gun (rashford and Bruno) excel more in open space situation.

I think this is a more  interesting discussion to have.

Which players that we should get the best out of from this squad ?

Do you see Gallagher being good enough for a team that should be challenging for a CL and league title though? For me he isn't a stitch on Mount and there's even question marks over his head for most the fan base.

I agree that mount is better but you can win cl or pl with Gallagher. You don't need 11 superstar to win cl or PL.

Decide which players you want to build around and surround them with player who can support those players.

Joao Felix has hinted he could be open to joining Chelsea on a permanent basis but stressed the importance of Champions League football in determining his future.

Does this bloke even realize he could be the reason we get knocked out of the Champions League?

Should of had a hattrick the 1st leg.

Last night, for me, he was a bit disappointing. For a player with the hype around him and so called "big" player, he didn't step up to the plate and be the game changer we need. Compare him to someone like Hazard and it's obvious Hazard in his prime was superior. Hazard would change the game by himself. I am sure he'll come good, but last night he needed to step up and show his so called world class ability, but he didn't. Let's hope he shows his abilities in the coming weeks otherwise he will have been a disappointing (loan) signing.

Just last night? He has been piss poor for me, and a luxury player we need to stay far from.

Felix, Nkunku, Havertz, Fofana, Broja, Madueke, Mudryk, Sterling, Mount.

🤷‍♂️

I think Mount is gone, the way he's suddenly been took out of the team gives me RVN (at the end with United) vibes.

Forfana will hopefully go out on loan.

Broja can't really be counted on until minimum new year.

Felix as much as I enjoy watching him aesthetically I wouldn't sign him at this point.

I think comparing anyone to Hazard is unfair. Felix is extremely talented but Hazard is probably our most talented player ever

Give him time, I say. Clearly has quality and whether a player shines in a particular match can be due to random factors, like where the ball falls and when. One bit of magic that leads to something is all it takes to turn our perception of his contribution on its head. He’s that sort of player, no? A “fantasista”. Has the potential to be kind of a Mata for us. It’s up to the coach too to get the best out of him. Come on Graham!!

I tend to think of Felix as a luxury player, but the club seem to have used him for a lot of the PR work recently, much more than you might expect for a loan signing, so I guess they feel he is a "good fit" for the project. It wouldn't surprise me if we do end up signing him.

In my opinion he's our best player, I believe he's the type of player that once he's properly settled and our squad in general is properly settled he'll be invaluable to us and will be one of the best players in the league.

I like this thinking, regardless of whether it comes to pass or not. It’s a distinct possibility and the talent is there..  Clearly he’s marketable too, to @Sexyfootballpoint. People like watching skilful players - not just me. Americans understand this better than us, maybe. They love the “flicky shxt”:). They see the potential brand value in a player like Felix, and this is at the forefront of their minds. Who’s more likely to do something that goes viral - Felix or, say, Declan Rice? This is NOT a criticism of Declan Rice btw. Also I’d hate for us to end up a pure luxury team of individuals that never wins - like PSG (over the moon that they lost to bajern). Gotta strike a balance.

This is a very non Chelsea way of thinking.

How do you mean, exactly, Bob? The “brand value” concept, having skilful players or something else? What do you see as a “Chelsea way of thinking?”

Still not impressing me

He is a frustrating player. Clearly has talent and has a very quick football brain. He sees passes, little flicks, unorthodox moves that the likes of Pulisic, Kovacic, Mount and Gallagher will rarely see. Those little movements that could create a chance where others wouldn't create one.

But then he disappears for too long during a game and you start to weigh up the pros and the cons.

I'm in the 'keep him' camp for now but I think his overall contribution  in a game will need to improve if we are to pursue a permanent deal.
