Brentford v Chelsea (PL) Wed 19th Oct 2022 19:30 GMT

If Brentford bombard us like in this fixture last year I don't trust Kepa to save us like Mendy did. Good to see Broja start. Will take any kind of win tonight, then we look good for the United game at the weekend with a fresh team.

Nah you're right... after all, when was the last time we saw Kepa save the game for Chelsea..?

Really man! Kepa has being outstanding of late so very strange people still give him grief.

Bloody hell Havertz can get away with murder can't he?

Looks like this

Kepa

Dave Chalobah Koulibaly Cucurella

Jorginho Ruben

Gallagher

Mount           Havertz

Broja

We are screwed as, apart from Havertz, that is the side I would have picked. So bad choices lol.

Some called for a side to match Brentfords work ethic. Well with Broja, Mount, Gallagher, RLC, Dave and Cucurella We have done.

The oddity it picking the German ghost again.

Broja with a massive game!

He will need to. Hopefully Mount can find him with constant supply, and the others are more miss than hit with final balls.

I'm a fan of Mount and Gallagher in the same team - the work rate is hard to match (added bonus they both have quality).

Not sure what to expect - hope for a win and would be a big win, but this is a journey.  Can see a draw today.

Tbh i am not crazy about this line up. Broja and gallagher deserve to be playing but again 3 at the back against Brentford and Mount in the middle is just a bit strange. I would have liked to see a different formation.

Unless Potter is playing 4-2-3-1 instead with loftus cheek and Jorginho in the middle.

That makes it, what, one time in four years?

Not trusting him fully to command his area if the game turns into the ball repeatedly being crossed into our box again is hardly unfair "grief". He's been good under Potter so far, was brilliant on Sunday, but it'll take a lot more than that for me to be able to trust him as undisputed #1 over Mendy.

Could still be a back 3.

Kepa

Dave

Chalobah

Koulibaly

RLC or Gallagher

Gallagher or RLC

Jorginho

Cucurella

Mount

Broja

Havertz

Or

Kepa

Chalobah

Koulibaly

Cucurella

Dave

Jorginho

RLC or Gallagher

Gallagher or RLC

Mount

Broja

Havertz

Honestly I'm sort of hoping we go with 4 in the back.  I feel like the 3 at the back formation requires on great wingback play which we don't have consistently without Reece James.

A few games ago we played a 4-2-3-1 and it worked pretty well.  I'd like to go back to that.

A few permutations there (all of which I think we've seen before this season): 4-diamond-2 with Mount behind Havertz and Broja, a somewhat orthodox 4-4-2 with Mount and Gallagher as the 'wide' midfielders, or a back three with Loftus-Cheek at wing-back.

We should for me (vs United) play Chalobah-Silva-K2 back three with Ruben wingback.

Strange times. More concerned about us getting a shoeing from Brentford than i was about Aston Villa. Who'd have thought that the Griffin Park boys would be a formidable PL force and a team steeped in history such as Aston Villa are relegation fodder
