This will be a really difficult game. Seen a few Brentford games this season and they've looked a decent side - they'll be right up for ti as well..

4-0 Chels.

If only it was an easy one and we could win 12-0 :good2:

Brentford have won  3 games and let in 19 goals in their 10 matches. If that’s something we should be scared of then it’s going to be an ulcer filled season.

notwithstanding Kepa we look a bit soft at the back so it could be a good game to watch. I hope so n

A physical team who look to out-work and out-muscle opponents. We need to match their physicality and work rate right from the off.

In my opinion we shouldn't play into their game. City would never throw their biggest players on the pitch just because they face a physical side.

Our best bet to win the game is to control the ball and control the tempo. We failed to do that on Saturday and barely escaped so we need to learn that lesson.

Midfield was a mess v Villa so Jorginho needs to come in. That should settle us down and have Brentford run after the ball instead of running straight through our midfield with it.

Just read that Ivan Toney is an injury doubt for them tonight. That will certainly help. So will not having Sterling on full-back duties and Cucurella learning to be a centre-half.

Do you watch Strictly Come Dancing Droy? My guess is your favourite would be the slow waltz.

Gallagher at wing back? Why because he's the only one in the team that hasn't had a turn there yet?

I actually called it in the summer. I think he would do a decent job there especially in the inverted role.

Either way the reality is Azpi cannot play every game so thinking outside the box is required.

That should help too. Those were baffling decisions from the coach. Up there with some of the more mindless decisions I can remember from our managers.

Think we’ll solve the WB issue by playing a back four of Dave, Chalobah, KK and Cucu

midifeld includes Jorginho, Kova and Gallagher

Mount Kai Auba up top

Changing my team - completely forgot about Sterling!

Kepa

Dave - Chalobah - KK - Cucu

Gallagher - Jorginho - Kova

Mount - Auba - Sterling

If Toney is out then that is a help. I don't remember of he was one of the 4 scorers when they thrashed us. I don't think he was. So they are still dangerous without him.

I guess Silva needs to be rested tonight with the games coming up within the next week. So my main worry will be if Toney plays (or even if he doesn't) and Brentford getting at our weakened defence bearing in mind what they did last season against a much stronger defence. Not confident with KK - can see why he gets the number of red cards he does.

We need to attack as much as possible to take the pressure off the defence.

I'd aim to flood the middle here.

Kepa

Azpi

Chalobah

Koulibaly

Cucurella (Chilwell vs United)

Jorginho

Kova

Gallagher

Mount

Broja

Sterling

Rest Ruben so he's fresh for wingback vs United, likewise Silva can't play 3 in 6, Auba on the bench partly due to his performance today but also to rest for United. Also with this lineup it allows an in game switch to a back 3 (Gallagher wingback) or 433 (Mount wide) if needbe.

I don't know if he's using the same formation but Potter's gone for this lineup bar Ruben/Kai for Kova/Sterling.

Happy with that bar Ruben's selection because as i said on the quoted post i was hoping he'd be rested to play wingback vs United.

A few permutations there (all of which I think we've seen before this season): 4-diamond-2 with Mount behind Havertz and Broja, a somewhat orthodox 4-4-2 with Mount and Gallagher as the 'wide' midfielders, or a back three with Loftus-Cheek at wing-back.

No idea what the plan is against Man Utd if Azpilicueta starts here. We saw last season how bad he can get when he's run into the ground. Hope he can last until the World Cup and then it's Spain's problem? Not that I necessarily have a better idea, but it doesn't seem sustainable.
