You're behaving as if we have a history under this ownership in improving on the players that we sell. It's even worse now with no Europe along with being limited in the wages the club can offer these footballers.

I'm honestly fed up with the whole let's wait until the end of the window narrative when its completely disingenuous. We've given these directors enough benefit of the doubt already. 4 years of it.

Still not seeing this with Santos, if he was that great he'd have played more. Not seen him deliver anything in a single game for Chelsea that is a game changer.

I will hold all judgement on this decision until we see who we sign. If losing Santos means we sign someone ready made to partner Caicedo, I will be happy.

So who's the next player to get transferred for showing up BlueCo poster boy Fernandez for the bang average midfielder he is ?

KDH gone, Santos going. If Essugo does anything this season he's next LOL. Lavia probably won't play enough to enable a decision on him :-)

We need to stop this idea that everything we don't like was something Alonso didn't like either. He is part of the leadership team. He is partly responsible for every outgoing and every incoming transfer.

Alonso needs to see a player in training before he can make a proper decision? Then why are you making a call on him?

We finish 10th, and the answer to improve for next season is to sign a couple of players who took their team to 15th LOL. Rogers won't come when he can stay at Villa and compete properly for Top 4 and Champions League (and where does he even play when we have Palmer and Enzo is probably still here ?)

Santos is one year younger than Elliot Anderson. He absolutely could have forced his way into the team if he was good enough. A manager who loved him at Strasbourg came in. He just simply didn't kick on. We don't know why, but he has never delivered a MOTM performance for us.

He stated 13 games in the premier league last year, I don't remember a single great performance.

United are gambling that we've held him back Let them gamble.

Because I’ve seen him play for us in the Premier League for us and is a decent player with a high ceiling and think it’s a bad bit of business.

"He has a high ceiling" is just admitting he's not performed yet but you hope he will. We've been given 50m for a player that might improve but has been average for us. But if you're able to make that call without ever seeing him in training, why does Alonso need to see him in training?

I expect they need this money and sign someone who will improve us. Not someone who we hope will.

Who knows with our board mate, I didn’t see Alonso being a possibility either though, and with the manager title I’m fairly confident we will get a few decent signings in before the season starts.

I'm fine with saying "we don't know" but it's a lot more likely Alonso signed off on this than saying Alonso is going to very unhappy with this.

We have to accept we f**ked up so many things for the past four years and we have come to the point of having to sell in order to buy some more and give Alonso the chance to fix this club.

Andrey Santos, tidy little player with room to improve if he unlocks his passing range. For the moment very limited, good in tight spaces, but that's about it. Keeps it way too simple and does not take any risks with his passes which is not good enough for a big club. But if he improves in that aspect he has the potential to become a decent player.

50M way too good to pass up.

And what in our club management's recent track record convinced you this is what's going to happen? Everything they've done so far suggests the opposite.

I doubt people are upset about selling Santos because they rate him so highly. If we were getting a top class midfielder to take his place most wouldn't give a solitary f**k about him leaving. In fact that's how you're supposed to act as a top club, constantly looking to uprgade your first eleven and your squad. The problem is, we know how our current hierarchy operates and there's next to zero chance of us signing a top level replacement.
