Andrey Santos Signs for Chelsea

No it's not. He's one of 30 that we bought and have completely snookered ourselves financially and competitively so that we have no option but to sell the few that have a positive value to cover the amortisation costs of the duds that we are lumbered with and can't move. This model is so slick that because we are not capable of shifting duds like Delap or Jackson we have trued to think of a way of backing out of the Emegha transfer cos he couldn't even get a regular game at Strasbourg

Jackson should be able to be sold for a profit, but they need to stop being greedy. Ditto with Gusto.

Not sure what we do though with Slonina, Badiashile, Fofana, Fernandez, Mudryk, Sanchez, Lavia, Washington, Kellyman, Wiley, Paez, Anselmino, Jorgensen., Garnacho and Gittens

I haven't included Tosin, Neto and Delap in that list as I don't think we'll make a loss on them despite their performances, albeit wages make them a harder sell.

In a market where back to back relegated Matheus Fernandes goes for a 85mill deal letting Andrey go for near half that price is one of BlueCos worst negotiations to date.

Or to put it another way, valuing him as just above a Garnacho and less than a Gittens.

If this does not show you how bad our situations is with uefa and the powers that be, nothing will.

Agree we’ve bought a few decent ‘talents’ but we really should be buying the next stage of player someone past the potential stage and the more proven professional. Now that doesn’t necessarily mean old just a first teamer. I liked Santos but do we really have the time to wait to see if he’s a top midfielder? I’d say no, we need some real impact players or it’s going to be a long season. We’ll have to wait and see, it’s the hope the kills you.

We won't pay the wages or sufficient agent fees to get these players and we have no European football to offer.

I am surprised we haven't gone all in for John Stones as he is a free agent

Since this lot have taken over the only player we shouldn't have sold is Lewis hall. And he is definitely not the only player we've sold that had this over the top reaction.

If we don't sign Wharton or Scott, then I wSill be pissed off. Until then I'll hold fire. They've made good decisions on who should leave.

Selling Cucurella does not seem like a good move given that his replacement is 20-year old Hato, which represents a huge gamble. Selling Santos when Enzo is unsettled and wants out and Essugo/Lavia can't stay fit is madness. Under the circumstances we need to add two top level midfielders. Dop you genuinely trust them to do that?

We signed a guy for £10m. He didn't excel. We sold him for £50m

He's proving the model, not disproving it.

That's all well and good except for every Santos deal there is a sh*tload of players that they bought over the years who are flops and no-one wants them. They can't get rid of these bums, forget about making profit on those. That's the reason they have to sell good players like Santos/Cucurella/Chalobah etc because no-one wants most of the trash they've accumulated in the last four years.

The model is working though.

If they get the full £50m for Santos then that will take the cumulative loss on BlueCo player trading to date (players they have signed themselves, and subsequently sold) down to about £55m. Sell Enzo for £162m and they'll have broken even ! (as long as you overlook al the wages paid and the huge amount spent on agent fees LOL, plus all the costs of our team of Directors of Football LOL).

Nailed it.

I’ve been saying this, would be perfect for Alonso’s system, massively experienced and proven. Injuries are a big concern though.

I thought the same, but he was interviewed as part of that whole him and Silva leaving thing and he said to the interviewer, a little bit indignantly actually, "Nah, I've been fit all season, just not selected"

Lets note forget that potter from hire to fire cost us over 30 million

And that’s the problem no one wins anything without spending big on the best.

Think the big difference is Fernandes played every minute of each season. I can’t tell you how good Santos is having watched every single minute of Chelsea since he joined. He’s hardly played any football.

We have apparently put a £75m price on Gusto (Book value is around £15m)

We want £120m for Enzo (Book value is around £70m)

We want £40m for Delap (Book value is around £23m)

Nobody is paying those prices for these players.

Two of these players aren't good enough and the other clearly wants to leave, yet we price them out of the market or bizzarely want to keep them.

It is actually possible to make a small profit on each players book value without asking for crazy money.

And that is just a small example of why we are stuck with useless players all over the football club, because the board clearly care more about making money than trying to create a football team that can challenge for trophies.

If you think that’s us done for the midfield then you’re clearly wrong.

We will sign at least 1 midfielder and possibly two. Not a chance we go with what we currently have.

Your knitting is in tatters methinks.

We have already brought in Barco, , we have Caicedo, lavia and Essugo and maybe Enzo, we dont need another midfielder playing one game a week

The variety of f**k ups theyve made are one of my many issues with the ownership.

But buying Santos for £10m, then both managers we've had this season not fancying him, and selling for £50m is objectively good business.

United are gambling that he is better than our various managers rated him.

I think it's more likely that the in 3-4 years time he will be sold for between 30 and 50m than it is he will be sold, or worth, 85m+

And look if we dont sign Wharton or Scott then this is a sign that we are downgrading our team. If we sign either of them then it's simply a squad upgrade

See what happens by 1st september, but losing Cucurella, Santos, and potentially Enzo, whilst not offerung the sort of wages needed to replace them with quality leaves me worried.

Santos stepped in and did well numerous times last season, and that was under a distracted Maresca, and Rosenior!

Another year in england under a top coach and he will be a top player imo.

We have backed ourselves into a corner though, nedd to generate some money to fix all the other problems the recruitment have created. Crazy model, and when there is way more hits than misses, this is the sort of thing to expect.

We are Brighton, we sell players we need because we need the money, and our best players want to leave because we dont match their ambition.

What are the genuine expectations for this season like I’m so curious.

Top 4. Provided we sign a decent centre back, a decent central midfielder and don't lose any quality, Alonso can get this lot comfortably in top 4. Our best attacking players have had the summer off. Our best centre back is fully fit.

Liverpool and City have awful managers. United are doing nothing meaningful in the transfer window and have champions league football, whilst Tottenham are reliant on a bunch of new signings all clicking under a manager who has always failed to convince me.

Arsenal should run away with the title. We should be best of the rest considering no European football

This is dependent on us signing Lacroix and Wharton. Which I assume is going to happen.

I don't see it, at all, but I pray you're right.

This screams another Top 4/5 struggle with a pitiful domestic trophy showing.

Wait! are you saying we actually win?! 😅🏆

At this point I just want this club to sign someone who'd be able to order a beer in the US. 😄

Watch this.

A 8 min highlight video isn’t going to sway me in 2026. He could barely get on the pitch under Maresca, I recall one good game against Burnley.

He’d a quick upturn under Rosenior which faded just as quick and then spent the rest of the season rotating between the bench and middling performances.

In an ideal world, he’d be given another season but I do think money constraints means they can’t turn a decent fee for someone who didn’t show too much.
