Enzo Fernandez - Officially a Blue!

Featured Replies

In the World Cup final I just rewatched he looked like Jorginho on steroids. Actually missed a couple tackles in h1 and most passes were about 5 metres sideways.

He should be right up your street then Ozzie.

I read a long piece on his playstyle from the Athletic done by Liam Twomey. He says Enzo plays like Rodri for City or Thiago for Liverpool...

This description was good as well:

Enzo wanted to play for Chelsea, he spoke to 2 or 3 ex Chelsea players and they vouched the club. He will also sign in for english lessons once he is in London.

Would love to know which ex Chelsea players he spoke to !

So it was 1 shot of 121,000,000€ no installements as suggested by Mr. Romano

It is apparently 40 million Euros down now, with SIX staged payments of the balance.

So funny to me that UEFA decided to close that loophole with spreading the fee over the full length of the contract from next summer so then we just decided to basically finish our rebuild in January. Also ensures no other club can follow us and do the same which obviously makes it even better.

Top work from the club. I also don't want to hear any excuses for Potter now. I hope he gets us going but with the squad he's now got we better look like one of the very best sides in the league. And we should challenge for the title next season already.

I guess he'll take the #5 shirt, although also possible that Bettinelli relinquishes #13 if Enzo wants to wear the same number he had at Benfica. I doubt the #3 keeper in the last year of his current contract would have much choice in that scenario LOL.

Your expectations are too high. No chance we should be fighting for the title next season. We have just bought inexperienced young up and coming players from leagues around Europe. There is no guarantee all of them fit in or are as good as the fee suggests.

I would say in 2-3 years we need to be close by whoever is leading the pack.

We've literally bought the most sought after players in Europe mate. They may be "up and coming" but we've also broken records to sign them.
We have a fantastic side now. We will likely add one more midfielder and a striker in the summer. After that there will be no excuses whatsoever. Don't necessarily have to win the title obviously but it's clear we need to be in the picture next season.

Santos is very likely his partner from about 1/3 of the way through next season Really it’s more exciting than I can rember since Roman first started spending.

I don't agree. We have bought most sought after YOUNG players in Europe. Look at the sides that win Premier League trophies. Core players are 28 years old. And that happens for a reason.

Our side is probably fantastic to watch on their day but racking 28-30 wins in a 38 game season with 20-23 year old players is unheard of.

It balances itself out with having T.Silva

Anyone else worried this hasn’t been confirmed by the club?

Not me, he’s been officially registered, Benfica have put out a statement and every reliable journalist has said it’s a done deal.

It’s even public knowledge how we are going to pay Benfica.

Chelsea just want to have a big announcement, today will be the day. 😉

This is the best signing in the last 10 years right after Hazard.

Slow down buddy. He's not a patch on Hazard even in relative terms as they play in different positions.

I've got serious doubts he will live up to his price tag but if he does then we should be title  challengers next season no excuses.

After the whole generational talent Havertz hype, the CHO hype I'm not being fooled anymore. Show me how good you are first. Tired of big money signing duds.

I don't want to alarm you and @Gol15 but Hazard was signed over 10 years ago.

We have Silva, Kante and Sterling which will all start when fit. Experienced core there with experience of winning at the very highest level.

Silva, Kante, Kovacic, Sterling are all very experienced players and will all be important players for us next season if they stay fit. Mount will also be 25 next season so not some young talent anymore, Chilwell who should also start will be 27 and so on. Nkunku who's coming in will be 26 and entering his prime.

We'll have a mix of experience and youth. Which is the mix you want.
