Our esteemed Captain has been banned from driving for 6 months and racked up @ 4k quid in fines on 3 speeding charges, failure to cooperate and missing court. TBH why would anyone want a super car in the UK? The British PoPo are not going to allow that gangster sh*t.
September 12, 20241 yr Why is someone at the club now hiring someone to advise him. The amount of money we've wasted on him we need to protect the asset.

September 21, 20241 yr If anyone comes in with a big offer we should take it. He’s getting worse and worse, compare him to Caicedo it’s night and day.

If he didn't have the reputation and the pricetag we'd get shot of him in a hurry. But owners made him captain to ensure he plays of course. I don't actually think there's anything he excels at on the pitch. Decent at some things and poor at others but not top class at anything at all as far as I can tell but i'd invite his biggest fans to name something.
September 21, 20241 yr We can only speculate but with the driving charges and poor performances it looks like he's not taking things seriously enough. Needs to grow up and apply himself. I'm beginning to question if there really is a player in there. Maresca will certainly have his work cut out to turn things around. I'd start him against Barrow and say to him that he's dropped if he doesn't put in a very good performance.
September 21, 20241 yr Author Maresca will keep playing him in this role until Enzo finally grasps it. He wants to turn him into Gundogan.

As long as we play inverted fb with Enzo push high, Enzo won't ever looks good.

September 21, 20241 yr I thought he was pretty effective today. We won 3-0 and he was a big part of the engine room. Caicedo was a different level, but no complaints on Enzo.

I don’t think he’s suited to the PL and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Lavia starts ahead of him imo.
September 21, 20241 yr Hes like a double edged sword but the pointy bit which is effective isnt sharp... That's probably the best way to describe him right now

I don't understand this discussion about grasping it. Playing attacker from tactical pov/position understanding is very easy.

September 22, 20241 yr That’s a pretty good question to have actually. Who would you take, Enzo or Gallagher? Enzo is supposed to be one of world’s best young midfielders and we had to move fast to fend off interest from big clubs in CL. Gallagher has his limitations and isn’t great with creativity. Give me Gallagher over Enzo any day. He’s so much more effective

Yeah Maresca says he sees his value in being a holding midfielder and attacking midfielder, hence why Enzo will probably always start in that role. Needs to grow into that attacking player Maresca wants him to be.

As I posted earlier in this thread, it's also worthwhile remembering that Maresca himself was the same sort of player and had to learn the same lessons. The big difference between Fernandez and Xavi, Modric, Gundogan and even Maresca is urgency. Though revered for their flair they played with energy and determination and Fernandez often lacks that in his club football. As a case in point from last game, the amount of lazy through-balls he attempted in the early game, which were simply underhit and careless. Improved later in the game but we've got to see him move from merely 'neat and tidy' to effective.

It is not about player position though, it is all about player skillset. Let's be frank, Enzo is an elite passer but he is a terrible attacker. The more you push him up the less you get the good stuff and the more you get the bad one. Edited September 23, 20241 yr by Bob stark
September 23, 20241 yr I think we'd say he's under performing even if we'd only paid £50m for him ... but at £107m he's approaching Lukaku and Kepa levels of value for money in my book ... as it stands he's a lucky boy that Lavia is made of glass and Santos is on loan at Strasbourg.
