Seems like we just repeated the final of the last tournament by scoring early then sitting back and hoping rather than taking the initiative.  Don't know if this is just the English mentality or Southgate's pragmatic boring football, but the better teams will take advantage.

Supposedly one of the best squads in our history yet we have 3 right backs on the pitch and Foden out wide so 3 player playing out of positions and Rice playing in his less preferred deeper role.  Southgate for a Knighthood.

Including TAA? I'd make that two RBs on the pitch.

Rice said himself that he actually prefer to play deeper role.

Pretty sure Ederson would prefer to play in midfield but Pep knows better.  Anyway I don't think Rice playing deep is an issue and Southgate's hand is little forced in that regard anyway.  He just doesn't need to compound it by playing others out of position.  No surprise Trent, Tripper and Foden were the worst performers last night.  Feels like he picked his team on FIFA stats.  Nothing lost we won the game hopefully Southgate can sort things out before the end of the tournament.

Had no idea Rebrov was Ukraine manager, I used to speak to him often at a company I used to work for a while back!

You've obviously distracted him from his job, Romania make it 2-0!

Zinchenko and Mudryk must be the most defensively lax left since Michael Foot.

'DEE-namo KEEF' also sounds weird. Is that even the correct pronunciation? At least affect an accent if you're going to ham it up!

Foden just doesn't do it for England. He was anonymous.

Can't really judge him until we see him on the right yet Southgate won't change Saka while we have no natural width on the left, a damning indictment of Southgate's squad for me.

Still currently top of the group and he will probably say we got a chance to try out TTA without losing points.

One of the differences we have between the premiership is Southgate does not play a high defensive line so the pitch is not condensed and so Kane becomes isolated.

Now Southgate may be risk adverse or just aware of defensive frailties yet this means the midfield runners in the second half just fade, as good as Bellingham was in the first in the second he was much quieter being bogged down in defensive midfield.

That arnold rating is ridiculous, he was dreadful and had no idea how to play the position. Mistakes gave them 2 clear cha, he was a gaping hole in the midfield trying to defend, he was the reason we had no control as Rice had to constantly pick up behind him. Amazing.

Southgate is a clown. One of the main reasons he gave for playing him there was that he has a good range of passing. What about positional sense? knowing when to push forward and knowing when to stick?

Also, isn't it a bit late to start tinkering with the team now?

With Bellingham at 10, and dominant, Kane can't drop deeper as he grew to do and did well. He's now basically a target man.
